Hello community,
I am currently looking for a laptop for university and video/photo editing.
I currently have two laptops to choose from for the same price, each with 32gb ddr5 memory and 1tb hard disk:
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 ProX with an i7-12700h and an RTX 3050 notebook GPU
or a Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 with a 7840HS and a 780M.
Of course the ProX has the better screen and possibly better workmanship, but I'm relatively sure that the 3050 combined with the intel processor will drain the battery quickly. And I think the AMD processor is faster.
i'm also afraid that the i7 will throttle because of the heat and the additional graphics card.
I need your advice,
thanks
I’m not doing anything super taxing. Mostly low poly stuff for a VN.
I need a laptop for some graphically intense stuff (for school) but my parents said they wont get me a 'gaming' laptop bc i have an xbox and a switch already although i found a laptop labeled as a gaming laptop with a really good price:performance (other laptops with other specs are like 200 pounds more expensive) how do i explain this to my parents (who have no knowledge of tech other than knowing the difference between a laptop and a desktop 😭😭)
Display: FHD/OLED 14 inch RAM: 16 GB SSD: 512 GB Battery: 4-5 hrs backup Processor: Intel i5 (11/12th Gen) Microsoft Office: 11 (2021)
For a student, for coding, running IDEs, NO gaming intent. Mainly durable/long lasting-less expense on maintenance
Hi All.
I have a 6-year-old Inspiron 7773 2-in-1 17.3" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - NVIDIA GeForce MX150 - 2TB Hard Drive. It has an M.2 2280 slot and I changed the 2TB to a 2.5" SSD. I switched it to 32 gigs of memory. It's showing it's age and I'm looking for a replacement. So, basically, I'm looking for a 17" touchscreen with an M.2 slot and a 2.5" drive bay. I haven't had any luck. I guess my best bet is a laptop with 2 M.2 slots? I don't need the 2 in 1 feature.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Im in need of a straight forward office laptop, nothing crazy. I found one on sale for $400. should i buy it?
I am a student intending to pursue mechanical engineering from Germany and need to purchase a laptop that can easily handle softwares like Solidworks, MATLAB, CAD etc... please advise which one is better
Good IPS Screen, 16:10, Good color gamut, 16GB RAM Latest Ryzen CPU, No Dedicated GPU needed, Good keyboard and touchpad, Lightweight, Long lasting battery, No heating issues, Silent fans
only thing that works is the mouse. i had to connect an xbox controller to shut the game off and when i went to restart my laptop it’s been stuck on the “shutting down screen” for about 5 minutes now. nothing on the keyboard works including the power button
I am pursuing career in engineering. I want a laptop for gaming as well as for my college stuff like coding and programing please let me know if this a good choice
My laptop does not have an ethernet port, but I saw that there are a few adapters like USB-C to Ethernet, and USB 2.0 to Ethernet. I just wanna know if USB-C ones specifically do better than USB 2.0/3.0 ones, since I found some for very cheap and the 3.0 ones are pretty expensive. Thanks!
Should I just cover it with electrical tape or replace it with new charger?
Being sold for around $1800. Mainly concerned about the durability of the hinges as I've seen many family members laptops break from the hinges. This will be my first laptop.
Also looking for recommendations for durable laptops with good hinges.
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I was curious to get others point of view, experience and confirmation. I fear this laptop as its RAM soldered, thus not upgradable... Is that the case?
I have the 16GB version, but was hoping to add some more...

I want to sell my old laptop and want to know what its sell value is today. thanks.
I have the link to the original amazon value but obviously it will be worth less now - MSI Raider RGB GE63 15.6 inches Intel Core i7 8750H GTX 1060 Gaming Laptop - 1 TB HDD & 128 GB SSD (Renewed) : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
I am thinking about buying a thinkpad p14s AMD R7 PRO 7840U with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD and with AMD Radeon 780M Graphics. I am thinking about using it in my physics studies to run Python and Matlab calculations, for physics simulations. I need the laptop to be powerful enough and have a good battery life. Is it a good deal? Are there other options that are better?
So my lap is Acer Nitro V15 i5 13420h rtx4050. It got two high rpm fans on the right side. While playing games CPU and GPU temp stays under 75°. Right side of my lap is cool but middle left side of the keyboard around F,G,H keys it feels hot. So is this normal?
My Asus Vivobook Pro 14 laptop has a weird charging issue. The battery gets stuck at 12% charge and doesn't go up any further, even after leaving the charger plugged in for over 1.5 hours.
The charging light on the laptop stays on, even when I restart the laptop or unplug the charger from the laptop itself. The charging light won't turn off.
But nothing lets the battery charge past 12%. It's like the laptop is stuck and can't charge properly.
Has anyone else had this strange charging behavior on their Asus Vivobook or other Asus laptop? If so, what was the problem and how did you fix it? I'm confused about how to get it charging right again.
Any suggestions or insights would really help!
Thanks
