TLDR: I'm considering buying a local FJ62 and weighing whether I should buy it next week or save the money I would've spent and start looking again in four months.
I've been considering an FJ62 for the last two months, I absolutely love these vehicles and I see them as an amazing companion for my weekend camping trips. I'm looking at one next week with 189K miles, that's mechanically sound (owner's mechanic said "nothing is needed" in a recent top-down maintenance), has no body/frame rust, and clean interiors (the dashboard especially). Seller is asking $24K.
I'm very excited by the prospect of owning one. I like working on my vehicles (I own a '94 sportster that I do most maintenance on) and often take my car/motorcycle on long weekend trips to national parks. By that token, I'm generally reasonable with my spending: I live below my means and put alot of money into savings and investing - that's afforded me the opportunity to buy any non-essentials without issue. However, this one is different because I'd be using some of emergency savings to fund the purchase: it would take me 4 months to rebuild the fund to where it's currently at.
I expectedly received sound advice from the folks at /personalfinance (delay the purchase and start putting away money for this purchase and reassess in 2025). From a LC enthusiast's perspective - am I overthinking this? How long were you shopping around before you found the FJ you were looking for?
Almost 500 Miles on the New LC and she did pretty good for the first Day of putting the LC to work and taking over for the GR Corolla.
All I gots to remember the GR is this little sport Guage 😄
So, I am looking at a Landcruiser or Hilux depending on price etc etc I have found one I like here but I am not sure whether the engine is good, whether the transmission is good in this model. Whether it’s too many kilometres. It is a 1990 medium wheel base 5 cylinder manual diesel engine, with 290,000 ks on it attached in link is the car. It looks like there is some rust.

I would love to have a Land Cruiser as my first car. I love the 70, 60, and 40 series Land Cruisers. My dad has a 76, and I’d like to have either a 45 or a 60, but I’m not sure if I can afford to maintain them. So, I’m considering the 71, but I’d prefer the 40 or the 60.
So my question is if it a is really hard to maintain the 45 or 60? (I live in Europe)
Looking to sleep in the LC200 on a camping trip. I’ve done it once with an Amazon inflatable mattress but unfortunately that didn’t last. It was fine but I need a more durable mattress option.
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as air mattresses that fit in the LC200? Any particular brands? Luno? ExPed?
What do you do to level the end where the 2nd row seats make the floor dip?
I am not interested in building a sleeping platform. I am looking for air mattress.
Thanks for you help!
I am the proud owner of a 2022 4Runner ORP with KDSS (which I love) and a 2001 LX470. I think the trade in value of my 4Runner is probably around $40k.
Why or why not would I want a Landcruiser 250? What benefits would I get over the 4Runner? I live in Bay Area, do a few 4x4 trips per year (actual medium hard 4x4 stuff in the Sierras, more than fire road and less than Rubicon). Is it worth switching?
Things I care about: KDSS handling, off road articulation, range, camping usability with kids. Things I don't care about: electronics, creature comforts.
Currently have a 02 LX 470 that just completed a 6 hour road trip. Shortly after Battery light came on and radio unit stopped working. I already knew the battery was failing but the alternator and starter has been tested previously. New battery was installed and battery light continues to be on and radio still won’t work. Alternator and starter were tested again and showed no issue, no fuses blown and the car starts up no problem and is able to hold voltage. I’m at at loss as to what could be occurring, anyone experience this before and found a solution?
I live in the south of Ireland, and not only do we get the lowest spec vehicles here they're also marked up to the eyeballs.
Without delving into Customs duties, VAT and the dreaded VRT, where are people importing decent models from?
Tanzania and Australia are two I've seen mentioned. And are people finding stock?
All ideas appreciated!
I’ve had it for about 4 years now and love it, super sick all around absolutley amazing. O oh thing is it’s been hard to travel it around with the Navy and my wife hasn’t been super enthusiastic. Just had the front axle rebuild, new distributor, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, full Dobinsons suspension, fluids, fuel regulator pump, transmission lines, brakes, tie rod ends, alternator, belts, and probably some stuff I’m missing. Drives great and feels amazing, only thing that would scare people is the 470k miles lol. No frame ruse just a small spot on the rear wheel panel.
What’s everyone’s opinion on how much I could even get for it? Love seeing everybody’s cruisers!
I'm looking at a 1996 Land Cruiser HZJ75 on Monday that was apparently imported from the country of Georgia, but the current owner doesn't have importation paperwork. I'm looking to avoid getting scammed.
It has a New Jersery title.
Based on the pictures, it doesn't seem unreasonable that the truck may actually have 60k miles based on the condition. Being expensive and imported though has me very cautious about buying it. The seats are new or at least newly upholstered which seems a little suspicious.
I will test drive the truck and of course listen to the engine for any knocks or issues with timing, but I wanted to pick the mega brain and see if you folks have any ideas I haven't thought of trying. I will also have the vehicle inspected, but I don't know any shops in the area. Teaneck, NJ
I did see a video recently where a guy recommended checking the pedals, steering wheel, handles, carpet, and shifter for wear which I thought was very smart. I'll also check the oil and transmission fluid for discoloration, granules, or flakes.
Any and all advice is very appreciated. Thank you!
Spotted this FE Meteor Shower with the top wrapped - really liked the look. May do something similar on mine.
I have a 24 lc300 GR Sport.
When the brake pedal is fully pressed down and when the car is at a complete stop I get a tick sound(coming from behind the dashboard) along with a physical bump feedback from the brake pedal itself.
The dealer says this is completely normal on all 2022+ lc300s.
I find it very annoying to the point where I want to sell the car.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I really wanted to get the GX550 but it isnt sold in my country yet so had to settle for this. Honestly im not disappointed.
I took the 250 down chicken corners, Gemini bridges and long canyon all successfully with no lift and 275/75/18 tires. Only had one skid plate hit on Gemini bridges but it was user error as I just went to fast on a climb (I'll post the video later for y'all to laugh at me).

Hi. I have 4 KO3’s on my LC. I purchased a set of tire chains for my size (265/70/R18) tires. I now want to know why the owners manual says (look at pic) You cannot mount chains on these size tires. Why? Chains are required in certain areas I will be driving through. I know I have severe snow rated tires. I have never seen this before in an owners manual. Thanks in advance for everyone’s help!
I'm planning on off-roading it daily thought out sub 0- temperatures if not colder and with the deep... DEEP snow and just plowing through it with ease. Searching for the right year they all seem to blend in in which ones to get. Traveling longer distances with longer trips and trying to stay out there as much as I could. V8 is preferred for above 200k miles reliability, but wanting to be able to get it under around 100k miles or around 80k miles. I'm taller person around 6'4" room in the cab would be nice to have, storage is another thing that would be a luxury to have in the back to be able to have a setup for off-road equipment and camping gear and having the option to have a rooftop tent on top. Any ideas on what I should do now to find the right year/gen/model? I don't know where to start.
weekend trip with the girlfriend. may be the last adventure in the cruiser. love this vehicle and it's been absolutely a pleasure to own the last 2 years daily driving, plan on parting ways next summer i need a truck again.
Getting the overtrail and wanted to gauge thots on the 10y/100k mile warranty cost. Should I get thru dealer or 3rd party..?
Under/behind glove box on passenger side.
The buttons somehow fell in overnight (assuming it was the driver) but I took the car off roading last night and enabled it, it doesn’t show on my dash for some reason but it’s enabled and doesn’t turn off. Anyone know what I can do to fix this or what’s the problem?
