List of first things to fix first. Yes I’d removed the cowling to get a better look at the water pump and It seems to be idling a bit high.
I’m new to the whole FJ community.
Anyone know what size the brake line is? The rigid copper line. I suppose I can go get some calipers to measure.
'69 with a '67 327 ci vetted engine, SM465 granny low and 3'spd transfer case.
Does any one know if the rear barn doors can be converted to half doors? Wanting to buy a FJ with a soft top but was worried the rear doors would be a giant wind deflector with no top.
What kind of engine oil do you guys use on this bad boys? Mineral, synthetic, semi synthetic.
Thanks🤠
Hi I have an 1982 FJ45 with power steering, but the hoses are all dry/broken up and leaking, replacing them isn't straightforward, since I still can't find anyone nearby that has them.
Custom fitting new lines won't be viable financially speaking, due to the possible damage to the other steering components from running dry.
I'm quite used to driving manual steering so I want to delete my power steering, I just don't know how.
I'm open to retrofitting parts from other cars as necessary
Any help is appreciated
I think this is a fuel leak - it’s going to the car hospital again soon but wanted to ask here if anyone thinks it’s not a fuel leak?
Thanks!
I am the proud owner of a 1974 FJ40. I bought it from a friend that had it taken apart to remove rust and repaint some parts. Otherwise it ran when he last touched it a few years ago. But it came to me in this state.
Here is my question; At this point of breakdown, what are some things that are just easier to do now instead of 5k down the road. What are some things out of the ordinary staring at me that should be checked?
TIA! I'm very mechanically inclined from a different industry, just not an expert on cars yet. I'm just an idiot with expensive tools, I tell people.
Any suggestions on how to free up an OEM rear diff?
I have a 76 FJ40 with a SBC 350. My fuel pump went out, and I went ahead and managed a replacement.
For some odd reason I’m still getting a humming noise.
I assumed this was the failing fuel pump and that it would be solved by swapping the pump.
This is how it sounds a few moments after idling for a bit, and then shutting it off.
What would this be??
