hello all, my boyfriend is a big fan of land rovers, he has a 1980 stage III series I in bahama gold. i had a hat custom embroidered with the land rover logo and he absolutely loved it so i’m looking for any more ideas, i’ve been considering buying him some books as he has a collection, or a model car however i can’t find one with his specific model and colour. any other suggestions would be great, thanks!
I’m looking to buy from someone the yeti pictured. I believe it is an employee only item for Land Rover dealership employees. Please let me know if you have one available!
I am looking for a second car, and have settled on an LR4. I was considering an LX470, but I like my RR (apart from the spotty electronics) and have a good JLR mechanic nearby.
I know everyone says to try to get an LR4 from 2013 or earlier for the V8. I currently have a 2018 RR SC, and that's been a pretty good engine for me - is the 2015/16 LR4 roughly the same (apart from the extra 2 cylinders)? My RR has about 36K miles on it, and while it did need a coolant fix (which cost almost $4k because of where it is), it's been a good engine for me - just some fluid and brake stuff.
It's easier to find a clean 2015/16 Lux LR4 near me than 2013 and earlier (and I'd like my JLR mechanic to do the PPI). Should I expect similar reliability from a 2015/16 LR4 or will it be a completely different experience at ~120k miles? I don't have the space to do much work on my own, and so while I don't mind taking it in for service once a year after an initial punch list (considering my low usage, that's about as frequently as oil will need to be changed), but I don't want it to be in the shop every other month.
Relatedly, is there a sweet spot for mileage? It'll be a daily for me (wife taking the RR), but I would only put be putting on ~75 miles per week. I'm wondering if I should pay more for a lower mileage one since I'll be putting so few miles on it myself.
and i absolutely love it
Hey everyone! Just scored what I think is a great deal on a 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 S with automatic transmission. The vehicle has about 105k miles (170k kms) on it and is in excellent cosmetic condition. The previous owner only provided documentation for an oil and filter change done about 1,800 miles (3000 kms) ago.
I've already scheduled it for service at the dealership tomorrow where they'll do:
The car drives perfectly smooth with no strange noises, and I can't spot any fluid leaks. However, given the mileage and limited service history, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything crucial. Any additional maintenance tools that I should have just in case? Any common issues I should watch out for with this particular model and year?
Really excited to join the Land Rover family and would appreciate any advice from experienced owners!
Note: Would love to hear your experiences with this model and any preventive maintenance tips to keep it running smoothly for years to come.
Looking at buying a 97 Land Rover but the seller says that the coils are repeatedly going bad. It initially went bad and swapped out new coils but then the new coils also went bad. Does anyone know what could be causing this or if replacing the coils again wont help? He wants 2k for it and it’s in pretty much perfect condition from the outside.
Please recommend roof rails (side) for 2023 discovery p300? Is that a good idea at all to mount thule box on tip given the vehicle height? Thanks! 😊
-Hi guys ! I wish to buy a Freelander 1 td4 SE.
-What do you think I should pay attention to ?
-The car looks good actually, it has only 147.000km, 2.0 td, 140hp. The price is 2800€.
-I don't see any rust or accident bumps. -Any advices ? This is my first car and I want to be sure that I make a right decision.
I had a broken plug and had to solder the wires together to get my fuel pump and gauge working again. Now I get a brake sensor light and a CEL for a P0447- Evap emission vent control circuit open. I am wondering if I soldered the wrong two red wires together. Can someone tell me what these two red wires go to?
I’m in the market to get my first car as I’m getting my license soon and I stumbled across this beautiful gem and it’s only $5795 which is well with in my budget giving me a lot of wiggle room to get whatever needed maintenance done off rip think is I don’t know what that is. I’ve combed through the subreddit a bit and I’ve seen a lot of people talk about suspension issues, replacing a water pump, coolant lines, but those issues the all said was before the 100k mark I did also find two recalls, already checked the vin and it says it’s fine it has one incident report and 2 previous owners, what other issues should I look out for and should I get this as my first car? From the pics I’ve seen the owners took really good care of it 🙃(I really want it lol I love the way it looks and it has all the features I want)
Going to be in the Cotswold’s next March with 4 adults and a 1.5 year old in a car seat. Will be decent amount of driving for 4 days around all the towns. Is the defender 110 big enough? Yep of the adults are tiny. Or do I do defender 130 or just the Land Rover straight up?
As the title says
So, long story short, I’ve already done the following to the car, what else should I look at now that my heads are being worked on and I’m already going to be that deep in the engine bay?
Quick vehicle 411 -Mileage: 114,985 -Prior service history unknown, so have done everything since taking delivery in February with 101,251 miles on clock.
Work already completed since taking ownership: Valve cover gaskets Fuel injectors Spark plugs Coolant crossover pipes Upper coolant hoses Timing chain Timing tensioners Timing guides Cam Phasers Water pump Thermostat All fluids already serviced (oil, coolant, transfer case, transmission, diff) Air suspension compressor Right front air strut Rear struts Entire front end (control arms, ball joints, sway bar links)
When my Land Rover LR4 is idling I can sometimes feel a small knocking or vibration. It seems like every few seconds or so a piston combusts in a unique way which I can then feel. This wasn’t happening a few months ago.
When giving it gas or driving I don’t notice it. Or revving the engine while in park etc.
What’s the problem you guys think?
Wife and I are planning to drive from WA to FL this winter, I am going to need some service along the way, already have a dead DRL. I have heard bad things about LR of Spokane, other options would be SLC, Denver, Dallas. Any thoughts?
Hey everybody! I hope your winter’s have been good so far 🤙! I have an 04 Disco 2 that I need some parts for and would like to do it my self as well as a few upgrades! Any of you seasoned vets have any good forums and/or parts sites they’d like to share?
Is this common? Took to dealer and they claimed to fix after 2 weeks. Again no heat.
I recently purchased a 2015 LR4 and need to set it up for winter driving up to the nearby ski mountains (VT, ME, NH). After some internet searching i'm thinking of going with the following setup...
Wheels... 18x8 in steel wheels from Terrafirma (w/ 30 mm spacers)
Tires... Blizzak DM-V2 Size 255/55R18
I could use some help confirming if these setup will all fit together?
Also, will this mess up my speedometer accuracy?
Thanks!
Hey fellow Land Rover enthusiasts,
I’m having some serious issues with my Defender 110 TD5 (2005). Recently, it's been producing a lot of black and gray smoke from the exhaust, and I’ve also noticed it’s consuming motor oil at an alarming rate.
I’m not sure where to start diagnosing the problem. Has anyone experienced this before or have an idea of what could be causing this? I’d appreciate any advice or tips to get this sorted out.
Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to your thoughts.
The alternator on my 1996 disco died, and I cant seem to get my hands on a new one(due to shipping restrictions), only a defender alternator. From my research I believe the disco alternator is 100amps while a defender is either 60amps or 65amps, but the dimensions and fitting should be no problem Will I be fine fitting that new alternator? Since I cant, for the life of me, find a disco alternator.
Hey just got my Freelander in having a new subframe as the last one was a bit rotten. The antiroll bar mounts aren't quite lining up, they're 2cm too short. As far as.im awake the subframe is the same for the entire period of the Freelanders production period and also the Evoques. I see there's two antiroll bars but theyre fundamentally the same and obviously the Evoque has a different one.
Has anyone got any experience of this? Or could measure their rear mounting brackets for a late Freelander (we have a 2008).
Did a quick search but didn't see much, so sorry if its elsewhere. Dad bought a 2024 defender 110, lives part time in the Green Bay area, and is (correctly) concerned about deer, lighting, and front end protection. Im more of an American 4x4 guy but want to help him out. I'd rather just ask the right people instead of search aimlessly. Can you point me in the right direction for quality aftermarket? TIA.
I’m new here and was hoping this community could help me out. I have a 2006 LR3 HSE and I’m looking for a new bumper something like a full brush guard. Do any other vehicles share the same bumper mounts as the LR3?
I've been looking around for one of these as I love the look of them and can pick one up for £12k. It's had a new turbo and timing chain installed which I've heard can be a problem with them. Got a fairly low mileage for its age too at 60,000 miles. Is there anything else I should look for when viewing? I'm worried that it's too cheap and I could be missing something!
Happy Thanksgiving (at least in the US, otherwise Happy Thursday).
Looking into getting a 2020 or newer Discovery. Any issues or hidden maintenance costs I should be aware of before making the leap? TIA
