/r/IndieDev
This is the place for indie devs and gamers to share anything, be it game development, their favorite games or just cool images, GIFs and music from an indie game in a casual community-run environment. If you're an indie gamer, this place welcomes you too! After all, every gamer is a potential indie developer!
This is a piece of /r/IndieDev history. If you want to start another /r/IndieDev game jam, message the moderators!
Generally GIFs and images are the community-preferred medium to get your idea across. Links to Steam, Kickstarter or YouTube don't get anyone's attention. Check out our top posts of all time to get an idea
Keep in mind that this is a community of developers and even though we're all gamers too, this isn't your audience per se, it's more like a room full of peers.
We have a community-run wiki with tips and tricks, related subreddits and helpful resources. There's a page to add your subreddit or website.
There are a lot of indie-dev-related communities on reddit, here's a full list, but the few in the sidebar/about-tab are a good place to start your reddit journey. They are friendly and active, but not overwhelmingly complicated.
That being said, there are no strict rules here, use common sense when you post and use that report button if you think you need to!
If you would like to do an AMA, add a game jam or any other event to the /r/IndieDev calendar, message the moderators!
For more information about submissions, you can check out the really detailed guidelines here.
Thanks!
Check out our list of indie development subreddits for more. It's community run, so add a subreddit!

From my cofounder: Crandon Dillard: One of the things we wanted to be able to do is realistically capture the nuance of melanated skin in our Afrofuturistic RPG Unyverse. We have worked hard to capture that shine and shimmer that happens when our skin is under light. For some of us. I'm not as lucky in this regard LOL. But I digress. Tell us what you think Did we capture that Black Girl Magic. Shout out to whomever this beautiful sister is!!!
We’re going to Dice next week so check us out on Steam and wishlist 🙏🏼 or posting on socials about it.
If you want to get involved please reach out to me here or dm our Instagram. We’re bootstrapping now but we have investment momentum thanks to our partners at CAA.

Hey everyone, we finally have something to share! The first demo of Hungry Horrors is live, and we’d love your feedback.
It’s a roguelite deckbuilder with pixel art, mythology, folklore, and food at its core. You play as a princess trying to keep monsters from British and Irish folklore fed using real regional dishes. Some meals go down well, others… not so much.
The game is built in Godot, with all artwork hand-pixeled in Aseprite. Right now, the first two biomes are playable. If you give it a go, let us know what you think—what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d love to see more of.

I am curious. I heard lots of things about choosing the right genre if you want to be a succesful game developer. But I also know trends are changing so what do you guys think is the best genre to choose if you just base it on todays popularity?
Hello everyone!
We have just released a playable demo on Steam store page. THEMIS was made in Unreal Engine 5.1.1 and it has been inspired by souls-like games and puzzle games like Portal or Talos Principle. Any thoughts, overall impressions and/or feedback would be much appreciated!
