If you were to spend the same amount on a gaming laptop as PC and monitor, let's say $2k, how much better performing would the PC be?
Hi gamers, I have a Nitro Ryzen 5 5600H, RTX 3060 6gb and 16gb RAM. Has it got any more life left in it for gaming and new games? Or is it time for an upgrade? Any advice would be great. Thanks you.
I don’t have a lot of knowledge about tech related stuff in general, I want to get a gaming laptop that’s in the $1800-$2000 (Canadian Dollars). What’s the best that I can get with my budget?
So this is my first post I’m looking to switch from console to gaming laptops, but I’m wondering which ones that are good and cheap like preferably the 200 to 400 dollar range. Thanks
I know this is hard to find but just in case someone finds
Laptop: Asus TUF Gaming A15 FA507 NV ; Ryzen 7 7735HS, RTX 4060, 16gb RAM
I´ve experienced low FPS playing valorant. I´ve monitored gpu and cpu and i´ve obtained this values. Are they normal? I think that powers of gpu and cpu are too low. Im using GHelper and im playing in turbo mode whit turbo boost disabled. All drivers are updated. Any solution?
My TV i played on with my PS4 finally blown so I guess I need to stop being lazy and get a PC like I planned 2 years ago. Mostly I play COD so something of the sorts that can run it and not overheat or crash etc etc. I originally had an Acer Nitro 5 which worked great but it's outdated. Any suggestions? Oh I also like online Minecraft servers so idk if that helps. I appreciate any help or recommendations
I got this 3 weeks ago coming from MSI GL66 Pulse 3050 8gb ram core i5 to this bad boy for under 1k used from Best Buy.
For 993 after tax super steal? How long will this laptop last me when it comes to playing Xbox exclusives and modern games on medium to high settings ? Don’t care about ray tracing or 4k gaming or ultra high settings or performance.
These 50 series laptops what’s the major difference between those for 3-4k price point compared to my current laptop?
Btw the battery life for this laptop is awful is this normal for a gaming laptop like this?
So my recently purchased Raider GE68HX appears to be in need of a repasting as one core regularly hits 100C. I've been a desktop gamer for decades so please correct me if this is normal behavior for a gaming laptop. Anyways, assuming it's not, I'm considering repasting, but I can see from a few vids that the the VRAM uses a thermal putty instead of a paste? Are there any issues using the same thermal paste as the CPU? I've also been considering getting a sheet of PTM7950 and just using that for everything. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It has Ryzen 5 7535HS & RTX 4050 6GB The screen is good its 144hz 1080p with 100% sRGB Is it good? I want it to play Multiplayer games / story games Studying cuz iam High school student Studing programming & Ai self learning

Hello Redditors!
Please bear with me here, because I am pretty clueless when it comes to computer specs (hence this post).
I am currently using a 2015 MacBook Pro to play Sims 4, with a decent amount of mods and custom content but nothing too extensive. My MacBook tends to struggle quite a bit with long loading screens, etc. so I am thinking about finally upgrading my gaming setup to a proper gaming laptop. I would primarily be using a gaming computer for specifically Sims 4.
Here is my question: I am hoping to upgrade while staying under $1k if at all possible. I know this is a pretty low budget when it comes to gaming computers, but I unfortunately to not have the funds to get anything too fancy. Would this laptop (see the picture of specs and link below) be an appropriate choice for my needs?
This is the laptop I am currently considering:
Thank you in advance for any advice!
I got 475Gb internal memory on my laptop and im using a 4TB HDD that i bought like 5 years ago with my first pc because it was cheaper than a 4TB SSD (I didn't know anything about pcs), now I still have the same HDD but on my gaming laptop studying abroad.
What are some good external SSDs, for games, in the UK around 100-200£, preferably around 2TB, theres so much information online that I don't know what to trust, apart from not going with the sandisk one
I got my Lenovo LOQ (15" Intel) with RTX 4050 about 6 months ago before starting college, until i started school i didnt think about battery because i almost always had it plugged in. but now that i take it to school regularly i battle time as it was dying in like 75 minutes.
of course i turned to redit, and found recommendations for completely shutting off my dGPU while not plugged in. this helped a bit, doubling the amount of time my laptop lasts. but it still isnt enough for me to get through 2-3 back to back classes.
- yes i have all non-essential start up applications disabled
- yes my refresh rate is at 60Hz
- i keep my brightness around 70
- i set my maximum processor state to 70
when i open task manager, while just browsing web or doing school work, my GPU, CPU and Disk activity are all sub-5%. but my memory is always 50% to 80% in use. i hardly have any programs running at any given moment, for school, i shut everything down and only keep open Chrome, which takes between 600 and 1600 MB depending on my number of tabs open. now i feel like a 1400$ laptop should be able to handle 6 tabs just fine.
so im wondering, is this laptop just designed to be plugged in all the time, or is there something i can do to make it last longer during the day.
So right now i have a MSI 16 GB RAM , i7-11800H and RTX 3050ti ( 4 GB VRAM ) later this year i plan to buy a new gaming laptop and for the moment i have in plan 4080 or 5070ti but i dont know for sure if i will have the budget and i was also thinking about RTX 4070 ( 8 GB VRAM ) what is your opinion on 8 GB VRAM for the next years ? please take in consideration that i play all of my games on low / off settings maybe some settings on medium and that's it . ( i just want better performance i dont mind some bad graphics ) and if i will go with the 4070 i hope that i can play GTA 6 xD
I have the ge68hx which comes with 4090 and 13989hx but it can only do 230W combined. I know now we are to the point where laptops can do 250+ combines load wattage
However I am curious how much it helps in gaming? Because I wonder is there any scenario in games where CPU needs more than 55w?
This is the only test I never saw any reviewer do. Compare the total wattage of a laptop in gaming.
I want to buy a gaming laptop in the next few weeks, but I'm not sure which one is the best fit for me. I've always used a desktop, but now I need a laptop.
My main use will be gaming since I'll be using my tablet for university and work. If I ever need to use the laptop for those purposes, I wouldn’t mind accessing it remotely with a program like Moonlight.
The problem is that, in my country (Brazil), gaming laptops are very expensive. I'm considering either the Acer Predator Helios Neo with an RTX 4060 and i7-13650HX (~R$7,600 or ~$1,300) or the 4070 version with an i7-14700HX (~R$10,150 or ~$1,740).
From what I’ve researched, these laptops are worse compared to other 4060/4070 options, but their prices are very appealing (other laptops with a 4060 are priced close to the 4070 version). I was leaning toward the 4060 model since it's much cheaper, but my main concern is how long it will remain decent for gaming. Maybe the extra cost of the 4070 model will give me more years of usability, but since I've never used a gaming laptop before, I don't know what to expect.
Which one offers the best value for the money?
(For reference, I’ll probably upgrade the SSD and RAM in the future if possible.)

I will use it for studying (I study computer engineering) and occasionally playing WoW, CS2, Valorant and COD. I’m open to recommendations for models from other brands. My max budget is 1400€.
here are the options:
Asus TUF gaming A15 FA507NUR-LP018W R7-7435HS/16GB/512GB/ RTX 4050 6 GB
MSI Cyborg 15 A12VF i7-12650H/16 GB/512 GB/ RTX 4060

If some options miss some specs it's because they're from different sites. Thanks for your time reading this.
I already own this laptop. Had it for two months and it’s been great so far.
Saw some talk recently that HX CPUs have mobo issues (or something else - forgive the inaccuracy) and now I just want to be rest assured or know if there’s any precaution I gotta take (like undervolting for example).
In any case, I could’ve sworn it was the i9 that was notorious but I just want to make sure my i7 13650HX won’t kill my laptop one day.
I kinda regret getting a 4070 not a 4080 since that’s the price point I was at. Granted I was going for a more sleek look to take it to school and it served me well. But PC building is too expensive and I want to sell this laptop to buy a new 4080 or 4090 one. Looking into the Lenovo 9i or the 7 pro since it’s on sale rn. Anyways the computer is barely used with minor scratches and dents I was dumb and bought it with warranty for total of $2300 back in 9/24/2023. Ik im not gonna make my money back but would like to know how much would you buy this for?
Absolutely love this laptop but I’m moving over to a tower. It has been able to run every game I’ve tried from Assetto Corsa with mods to No Man’s Sky running VR on the Quest 3. Your typical games (Call of Duty, Rocket League, etc.) no problem. Runs flawlessly and is a unit.
I wanted to get a new gaming laptop to play games and probably for school and video editing but i need some help and advice
My previous laptop had an igpu and is pretty slow for big games but decent at mid game (minecraft and such)
The specification that im looking for is something like Rtx 4060,Intel i5-i7,16gb ram
I prefer nvidia and intel over amd(dont ask me why XD)
If possible the budget is less than 1300 usd
Currently the laptop im interested is Nitro v15, Helios neo 16, Helios 300, Msi cyborg 15
If you have an advice to me or a suggestion for another laptop please do share it 🙏
Thanks in advance
