I've had Asus GL752VW for the last 9 years, the only game played was World of Warcraft which worked fine.
Recently with the Steam sale, bought games like Grand Theft Auto 5, Dying Light, Red Dead Redemption 2, Farcry 5, and few others but none of them will run it freezes my laptop.
This laptop works fine for me, does everything need it to but hurt to see this fail. Now am looking at $3k+ laptops, do even want a laptop or is gaming desktop more superior?
Seems Asus Strix 18 or Acer Predator Helios 18 are two most recommended, aside from M18 which hear can have lots of lemons? Next year, NVDA releases 5050-5090 series apparently so figured better to wait till then? Should buy now just to play a few games, games have wanted to play for years now will admit.
I have these two option on my new laptop, which is is better?
also how to check max ram and what happen if I upgrade more than the max ram? the processor is the famous AMD Ryzen 7 7435hs.
My screen stopped working a while ago and I just realized I can replace it. I need some help. I want to replace the screen as well as a new Hinge cover. Im not sure if i need a new Hinge though
I saw a screen replacement here: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/ASUS/VIVOBOOK~S15~S510UA/
Should I get these parts. I'm not familiar with either of these websites but they seem to have the parts i need.
I really need the documents on this laptop and I would also like to get it working. Does anyone have any advice for me?
My laptop looks like this
Laptop Specifications
Model: Asus VivoBook S510U
Processor: Intel Core i7 8th Generation
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce
Screen: 15.6 " (Not sure if its FHD or HD but matching models are FHD)
Storage: 1TB
RAM: 8GB
OS: Originally Windows 10, but now Windows 11 after updating
Either this or a Kingston 2tb for $105 or a Kingston 4tb for about $230. I only have 5 games installed and I have literally no space left, this Fortnite update left me completely drained. Here’s to hoping none of my games need to update anytime soon.
I'm a high school senior that applied as a mechanical engineering major, and I wanted some thoughts and opinions on what laptop I should aim to get for college.
For starters, I'm aware that Macbooks are pretty much out of the question because of their extreme incompatibility with some of the engineering software that I'll have to use.
Currently, I've been looking for a laptop that has a somewhat high performance in gaming, since all throughout high school, I've been using this really cheap and old desktop with low specs that could barely run some of the simpler games like Minecraft and Roblox.
I'm looking for a laptop that is at least somewhat portable, has a decent battery life that can get me through the day (I know that gaming laptops drain VERY fast). and doesn't have RGB lighting all around the exterior (or at least it can be turned off).
The only laptop that ticks all of the boxes and that I like is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus.
Although the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales are happening right now, I'm convinced that the prices for some of the models that I'm eyeing will significantly decrease next year after CES, so I'll probably buy a laptop around Jan-July? (Around the time when the next gen models release/Prime Day in July)
Please let me know if you have any tips/suggestions for me to mind as I look for a laptop to buy.
Is this true? I read this earlier in a comment
Hello all,
I am just wondering is this a good deal for a technologically illiterate gamer such as myself. To be candid I am a Costco addict so I lean toward their deals. For a new PC all I need is graphics for games like Bannerlord, Rome Total Conquest and Fallout 4. I need something that is reliable and will last about 5 years. I thank you for your advice. Have a good weekend.
Hey guys so on Black Friday I bought a Zephyrus G16, the one with a 4070. This is honestly my first gaming laptop or gaming pc, and I’m not sure if there are any tips you guys have when setting it up. I heard that I should get rid of armory crate and use GHelper but is there anything else? Thank you!
Was looking around earlier this morning and saw this Acer Predator Helios 16 being sold for $997 CAD on Newegg. I gotten it immediately and now am waiting for it to arrive.
I tried checking the listing in the afternoon and it's sold out. Ultimately, if this were to be legit or a scam, I will need to see, but I am so looking forward to receiving it regardless, and will be also needing some basic tips on what to check for when I receive the laptop!
I own a HP OMEN 1660ti Laptop, and last month my battery died so I replaced the same through HP service centre. Everything is working properly such as battery backup, charging etc. But when I open the HP Support assistant app, one of the tab is displaying Battery calibration needed. I performed all the steps as per the instruction given, but still it is displaying battery Calibration.
Is there any concern regarding this battery Calibration thing as everything is working fine without any issue?
Like I pointed out in the last post:
Got a lenovo 7i 2022 and the laptop worked great for years except a fan problem that I got fixed by getting it changed under warranty. But recently I noticed the laptop had problems running games, it would work fine for 30 mins but then have insane frame drops and get really annoying. I reset my windows thinking that would be the problem but after running user benchmark, it was confirmed my gpu was under performing. Any tips or help from you guys?
So, you guys asked me to not use benchmark and I tried using some of your recommendations and got to the same point that my 3080 ti is drastically underperforming.
I have no idea why this is happening and it would be great if you guys could help me.
To other legion 7 owners:
Yes I have it on performance mode
Yes I have dgpu on
No I have not done any tweaks
Just bought the Asus TUF A16 for an awesome price ($679), but the trackpad is absolutely fucking terrible. Asus has no excuse for this. Making laptops since 2007.. Get your act together. More precision not trash.
Suggestions?.. Better trackpad on other laptops that always responds? It's hard to beat this price but this is a deal breaker for me
Solutions or Return are my options? . I almost threw this thing against the wall. I'll explain.
I'm considering Dell G16 now unless someone has some advice. Updated drivers and tried thr MS one.. Still lags.
When moving across the trackpad with one finger will be smooth until you stop and move again, the pointer stays still for half an inch of movement then moves like thr driver woke up. . It will do this over and over again.
It's as if the driver isn't always active until you move and it wakes up or has to wait for CPU cycles.
Left clicking with thumb, holding and moving windows around does this too. The whole functionality seems like it was thrown to the intern.
This is insane to me. I have laptops from ten years ago that function much better. I mean physical left and eight keys were much better but I understand it's modern trackpad.
I'm guessing this is an Asus thing because drivers never fix these things? Yes and I already tried the Microsoft driver. Same shit.. I don't think allot of people recognize these small but important details. It should be a feature to have precise movement.
I can't imagine video editing, photoshop etc etc. That's why I purchased this, not just for gaming. Everything else is amazing for the price. Ordered 64gb ram but I might save it.
Yes I purchased this so I can pick it up and use it quick. Not carry a mouse around. That's what my desktop is for. Have a controller for this and will use a mouse occasionally.
TLDR: Trackpad stalls and lags, looking for a solution or a better gaming laptop manufacturer with a good trackpad for all around usage.
I'm currently looking for a 16" laptop what are your guys' top recommendations (I value performance over cost)
I don't want to get something I'll regret buying later, my current top pick is the ROG Zephyrus G16 but I trust your opinions more

These are my specs, I’m trying to minmax temps at the moment. Plan on playing mmo’s and arpgs at highest graphics which I don’t think are as demanding as AAA games. Do you think I have room to undervolt, and if so how do I do that?
I'm planning to buy a gaming laptop with rtx 2050. I came up with the choice of Asus tuf f17 or MSI thin... So please tell me what should I go with
Just got this new Asus ROG strix out of the box. First time it got 6 percent than said it was disconnected from the internet. Now it won’t get past 0%.
I can’t even get it back to a screen to select the WiFi network. I’ve got it plugged into an Ethernet cable now and still nothing.
Any ideas?
Hi, I decided that the best suit for me is a 18’ size laptop with a 4080/4090 because I want it to last me a few years, it’s going to be a desktop replacement that’s why the biggest screen possible and the more powerful cpu/gpu combo. These are things to note
I have an MSI katana with a 4060 RTX gpu, the exact laptop model is MSI Katana 15 B12VFK-291US. Recently I bought an LG 27GS60QC-B gaming monitor. I have never used an external display with my laptop so I wasn't aware that you need a display port in order to take advantage of freesync. My laptop doesn't have one so from what I understand, I just won't be able to use that at all? Thing is, I don't know how big of a deal this is. What are the consequences of not using that? The monitor hasn't shipped yet, so is it enough of a dealbreaker to cancel the order and look for a different one? Thanks!
so i’m looking at a lenova legion 5i or 7i, i’m only planning on playing lesser demanding games like team fortress 2, and emulators so would i be fine with an intel i7 or pay 300 ish more for intel i9
Idk if the problem I’m having is my laptop or my hbb? Pls help give me suggestions to fix or look for a new hbb
I’m looking to get a gaming laptop but can’t seem to make up my mind, I know I want at least 1TB of storage and can handle AAA games without lag
I really like the sound of the lenovo hp laptop, its got a 20gb ram, a hdmi and a usb c I can hook up VR to it, whats your guy's opinions on it? Is it a good laptop? I am very new to the whole pc laptop thing but my friends want me to play vr chat with them and mouthwashing, SCP foundations and other various games.
Are you guys seeing this? 11k MSRP??
Heyo! I am looking for a good laptop under $600 that can support steam games (preferably all as I love checking things out) I heard some chrome laptops could handle it, albiet not well but wanted some of your guy's opinions
