This is the fourth thing I've ever written in Gallifreyan (one swear word and two names previously), and my first time writing a phrase. I put some tick marks on some letters to note how many lines were needed, pls just pay attention to the long lines. Just wanted to make sure I got it all right! Thanks y'all! ๐
I posted this in the Dr. Who community but saw this subreddit right after.
Hi Dr. Who community! Here's the deal.
I'm a dumb uncle with no knowledge of this show and with a niece that is obsessed with Dr. Who. I want to get her something unique for Christmas, already found a couple of vintage Dr. Who items and in my search discovered there's a cool looking language that goes with it. I saw the Sherman Guide and tried a few different translators but I'm either coming up with: Translators that don't do numbers, One that gave me like a whole bunch of separated circles for all the words/numbers, or all the different translators seem to have completely different results.
I hope this is okay to post here. Can anyone give me some sort of guidance on this? I would order something engraved for her online that they do the translations, but I'm worried that with the postal strike in Canada, I wont receive it in time. I'm looking to do her full name and birth date. Is there a good resource for this (I did see the guide and unfortunately, my non degree in astrophysics isn't kicking in to understand it).
Again, sorry for my absolute and complete ignorance of Dr. Who.
Also willing to commission someone if anyone is looking for any extra work!
Last note, I tried looking up the different "Flair versions" and I think Sherman is the one I want to use.
EDIT: TY everyone that contacted me!! You guys are an amazing community! I've started up with someone, very excited to see the results!
This is my first time making a font, and it has some mistakes, but I like it. Sorry if I messed anything up.
This is my first neat attempt at circular gallifreyan. I wanted to know if it reads correctly?
I wanted it to say "I love you" for my boyfriend. I tried to put my own spin on it a little bit but I don't know if that takes away from how it's read, or ruins it lol
I hope it's readable w/o the 'start here' indicator.
Feedback is very much Welcome
The the big one is my name, the little one is my initials.
This idea came to me in the middle of the night. Sorry if its inappropriate/against the rules
I dont quite underatand something. When stacking consonants, how would you tell the difference between "SS", "SR", and "ST", as well their inverse, "RS" and "TS". (starts, assets)
It's my understanding that the double "S" still only needs three line modifiers, but wouldn't stacking "S" and "T" also only have three lines?
Bonus question; how would I attach an "O" to a stacked "TT"? Which bite does it intersect?
Could you also let me know if I stylised anything incorrectly
I put the word "two" into the translator, and the following came up ... wouldn't this more logically be the word "tow" - if we are reading counter-clockwise.
I have little to no idea how the language works. Do you guys & gals know where I could start learning the basics? Or is there a sort of alphabet sheet I could use?
