Looking for advice to make sure I'm not doing something I'm going to regret later. Looking to put a 2" lift on a 76' J-10. It has new stock springs. Poot around in truck, no off-roading or anything.
Looking at Rusty's 2" full length AAL (front and rear) and Skyjacker Black Max shocks.
Hey, all!
My father-in-law got his hands on a '67 Gladiator J2000 some years ago, and the poor thing is just sitting outside uncovered, year-round in the mountains of Colorado. I want to help him fix her up, but he doesn't know where to start and isn't super motivated. I'm hoping that buying him some parts may jump-start his enthusiasm.
I'm no stranger to vehicle repairs, but I'm much more of a mid-90s and up guy, and I've never owned any Jeep vehicles. Someone who is relatively local to me is selling what he lists as a '1970 Jeep Gladiator'. Comparing the images to Jeep's history webpages and other places, it looks like it may also be a J2000, but I'm honestly not sure.
My question here is how compatible would the parts be between those two vehicles? Things like door latches and strikers, especially since his 67's doors do not currently latch and are held semi-shut with rope. I know both vehicles are on the SJ platform, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.
Thanks in advance!
Hello, the exhaust valve on my 78 Wagoneer is disconnected from the handle to open and close it, I am just wondering, which position is open and which is closed?
77 J10, built AMC401 and now an NV4500 with 6.34 first gear and np205 t case.
Hey everyone.
I’ve got a weird issue with my dash. Everything works except a couple gauges (intermittent issue). The fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge used to work as normal when the key ignition was turned on. Now both gauges aren’t working except a rare occurrence when it does and then dies again.
Is there a schematic that someone would be willing to share with me? I’m thinking this has electrical.
Thanks!
Hey yall, pictured circled in yellow here is a hose that runs from the radiator to seemingly the transmission. It is leaking ATF fluid from somewhere along the line. I cannot find this line to save my life! Anyone have a link or at least what this could be called?
Sadly I may have to sell this thing, don’t really want to but it may just be time. Only thing is I can’t really figure out a price, a lot of the ones I see are fully restored and auctioned. So I was wondering if I could get some help from you guys?
1983 J10 35K original miles on the 258. All new brakes, rear swapped to disc/caliper Sniper EFI Brand new suspension 3” lift on new 33s Everything except “air” works even the radio Minor body damage on the bed Some rust but all surface
Any ballpark ideas would be appreciated, don’t want to short change myself but don’t want to list egregiously high either.
Hello everyone! Just looking for some advice on how and where to put rear seatbelts into my 77 Cherokee. Also where to find solid seatbelts for this thing. I went to a local Jeep parts store here in CO springs and the worker there said to try and find where they were previously installed, but I don’t see anything that indicates there used to be seatbelts back here.
I’ve got two young kids and would love to get some seatbelts installed so that they can enjoy the jeep with me. Thank you!
Hey, yall! Ive found some of the best answers here as opposed to the ifsja, fsja, and figured id make a post. Anyway, wanted to ask if yall know of any aftermarket or facebook marketplace Dog dish style hubs thatll fit a 1988 GW wheel? Id really rather keep the original aluminum wheels because theyre in good condition but i love the look of a big ol dish. thanks!
I have a 78 wagoneer limited and sadly got her stuck in some mud overnight. My transmission is showing some water on the dip stick so I think it’s time for a flush. I figured I’d do the differentials as well.
So is it best to just flush fluid through the drain plug or take it apart with a filter change and stuff too? If so anyone have a good video I have found some iffy stuff online! Thanks!
I have found an ad for a 1979 jeep golden eagle that I'm interested in.
However, there is no contact information. I've entered my email but have not gotten any response. Am I doing something wrong?
Hello all- my stepdad is giving me his dad's then brand-new 83 Waggy. It never left the family, and never left Colorado until after like 2006 when his dad died and he inherited it. It has moved reliably under its own power since then but I think that's just because he never paid much attention to it. He did put a new fuel pump switch on it (his dad installed a secondary fuel tank) and he did put an electric fan on it.
Here's my conundrum. I live in Oregon, it's a 2,500 mile trip. I've been looking at shipping it to me, but that's so expensive I feel like. I haven't thought much about it until recently, until I watched one too many Roadkill episodes and had my own harebrained idea to roadtrip it back home to me.
Is this too dumb? My idea is to spend a few days replacing all the normal things like brake hardware, water pump, all the usual suspects and then road trip back to Oregon with my brother. I've been around FSJs most of my life, and consider myself a decent mechanic.
What else would you suggest that I carry? My idea is to have spare points, plugs, wires, ignition box, etc. but I've never driven a waggy 2,500 miles! If you do think it's a good idea, what's a good route for me? It's in south MS and I'm in eastern Oregon.
I’m trying to install an upgraded lower steering shaft on a ‘76 J-10. I couldn’t get it to connect to the upper shaft. So, I did something I obviously shouldn’t have. Tried to force it. Now, the upper shaft doesn’t extend as long as it did (see pic). I’ve screwed up haven’t I.
Hi All! New to the Reddit community but a few years into the Jeep project. I have a 1974 Cherokee that I am doing a 6BT swap along with F250 axles. It probably would have been better to do a frame swap but... Here I am. In usual fashion I am a glutton for punishment and went my own way by starting a website to document my builds rather than using an established forum... I am still learning but if anyone needs assistance with a similar project I'd love to exchange knowledge. I haven't a clue how to use Reddit properly.
I’ve read that all FSJ’s are wide track. Is this accurate? I have a ‘76 J-10.
Also, I’m wanting to lift by 2”-3”. I have blocks for the rear. Is add-a-leaf a good option for the front, or should I swap out the front packs entirely? I don’t use the truck for off-roading, just going to Lowe’s when I need to.
