AMERICAN MOTORS CORPORATION—
A place for any owners (hobbyists and collectors alike) as well as anybody with general interest (long time fans or just curious onlookers) to come and discuss, share, and inquire freely about anything related to the strong line of American Motors vehicles. The world of AMCs is often seen as a rather niche topic, so in effect we’re a very small and friendly community, and we leave this sub open for users to use as they see fit.

This is the car that goes with the window sticker.
Found this in a drawer from my Fathers Eagle
My great-grandfarher bought this brand new in 1963. I still have the bill of sale and window sticker. 43,000 original miles!!
She runs great now!
Yeah I don’t know how I got here, but I have 2 now. A 550 and an 880.
Put about 250 miles on the Rebel since it arrived. I got a chrome air breather cap that it’s supposed to have. Found frost on it when I first got up this morning, going to have to go in the barn this week.
Not perfect but should clean up nicely .
Bought this a few weeks back and finally arrived today.
Alright it’s official. She’s for sale. Run and drive, turnkey fully working 1963 Rambler Classic 550 , 2 door with its original 195.6ci engine and newly rebuilt T37 Transmission from a 69 American.
Deal includes spare 195.6ci engine, T35 transmission, many boxes of spare parts, carburetor, new old stock parts, etc
Selling to get another project car for less, and with the leftover cash I would use to afford an engagement ring
Is 6,500$ a fair asking price? The price is fully negotiable Thanks
Finally got it back on it's shoes after a Wilwood front brake upgrade and 1 5/8" drop. Fronts rub badly, which I expected. I am running 15 x 8 up front with 225/70 R15. Basically all I can do is go straight. I like the drag car look so will probably go with a 15 x 6 or even 15 x 4.5. with the appropriate tire.
I bought the car with these wheels and they are showing their age, so wheel and tire upgrade/or at least renewal is on the list anyway, but coming sooner than planned...or maybe not sooner...lol.
I love the stance now though. The big wheel housings on these Javelins make it so easy to stuff tires in them, at least in the back.
Also got the line lock installed but not powering up so some troubleshooting to do there and the brake switch doesn't mate well with the Wilwood master cylinder pushrod, so need to do some fixing there as well, but overall, very happy with the project so far. Just need to clean up the "little" stuff(pun somewhat intended).
I know this cars not directly an AMC, but I’m running out of places to look for someone to work on my car. I’ve got a 94’ Eagle Summit lx that’s stuck in limp mode. Car isn’t throwing any codes. I’ve got a list of possible problems and fixes, just not the tools or knowledge to really work on a transmission. Each mechanic I’ve talked to has told me they wouldn’t work on it for one reason or another. One suggested that I try asking people in AMC car forums, so here I am asking! I’m in the north Texas area, and willing to travel to the right mechanic.
Looking to get into a classic car restoration, saw a 1972 AMX for sale that has been bought before I had funds to buy myself. How hard are the old javelins to work on? I love the car, and for some reason I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this specific car since I first laid eyes on it. It would be my first restoration, and I mostly just want to get an idea of what I’d be getting myself into if I’m able to find another one at a time that I can afford it.
I think part of the appeal for me is that they aren’t as common as the same era mustangs/camaros/mopar. Is this a fine car to start learning on? Or would I just get myself into something I can’t finish?
Hi, does anyone know if I can get an alternator bracket for something like a Ford v8 to work on my 77 AMC401? I have the CVF racing mount but its annoying to get alternators to fit on it and tensioned. Will probably track down an original mount but before I overpay the AMC tax I was wondering if they're basically the same as another engine style.
Cost is ~$2,900 plus $600 round trip shipping, it’s my core. Does anyone have experience with S&J? Looking to drop this in my 87 Wagoneer.
