Hey folks,
Brand new. My son passed away recently and he had some wonderful project cars. I'm working to find homes for them... he would've hated to see anything junked. If you're interested or know someone who might be - here's what I've got:
1985 Jeep Comanche 4 cyl 4x4 manual transmission. Ran before parking. Project car. Front axle needs a ring and pinion installed and all bolts tightened. Interior complete but needs reassembly. ---Let me know if you know of anyone, or a good forum to check out. Thank you
'86 Longbed F:Dana 30, R:Dana 35 Mighty 2.5L/AX5/NP207
She's been in the family since new and now I think I can call her almost roadworthy after 20 years of sitting. She just kinda keeps wheezing along, slowly.
It's an 89.5 so she has an ax15 but that's about all that's good with her. She's a total trash pile but I do love her. Slowly rebuilding it.
Motor and trans pulled out today. 1987 originally a 2wd 4cyl 4speed a manual. It will be getting a full 1994 xj 4.0 ax15 231 swap. First is deep cleaning and rust repair then I’ll start reassembly
I just acquired these Dana 44 from a JKUR auto. I’m planning on throwing these under my girlfriend’s 91 comanche. The MJ has the 4.0, AX-15, NP231 amd getting a 6” lift. The 44’s are geared to 5.38 . I only plan at the biggest tire set of going 35’s but have a set of 32’s off of my rubicon JKUR and I have a set of 4.10 gears out of my JKUR. Do I just leave the 5.38’s and run the 32’s till I get 35’s? Do I swap out the 5.38’s with the 4.10’s and keep it at the 32’s? I’m trying to save some cash, just need some input.
Does anyone know what the stock rear leaf spring perch angle is compared to the pinion? Getting a C8.25 axle ready to swap over but my Comanche is a days drive away from me and my welder. This is for a bone stock SUA MJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This may be a dumb question but I’m putting my 89 on jack stands. Where is the appropriate place to jack and place my stands? this is my first project car and learning as I go. Thanks for any advice.
I need help finding a Jeep Comanche MJ 1990 Cab Headliner Board Replacement
4.0 with the 5 speed manual. It died the other night on a drive and now won’t crank or start. When I turn the key the only thing I hear is the fuel pump. So far I’ve replaced the starter and the starter relay. Any advice??
I’m a novice when it comes to working in cars and I’m going to replace the fuel tank on my 89 Comanche. It doesn’t drive and I don’t have a lift to put it on. Would it be easier to replace it by taking the bed off or just put it on jack stands?
It's all in the title really. Has anyone ever flat-towed theie Comanche before. Just drop the transfer case into neutral? Do I throw the shifter in the first gear or leave it in neutral too?
I just recently picked up an 88 comanche for a pretty good deal. I am looking to replace the whole braking system, brake booster, master cylinder, etc. I have been researching the disc brake conversion, but looking for recommendations on what will be the best option right now.
It's a 2wd and I dana 35 rear axle I believe, no c-clip. I'm not against going with disc brakes for easier maintenance, but can't get a clear answer as to what parts are compatible. Replacing the drum brakes might be easier for now, but I also believe I may have bad axle seals in the rear. If I was going to also replace the bearings, it seems like that would be a good time to also swap to discs since I would need to remove those bearings for the non c-clip axle.
I am replacing my fuel tank because it’s rusted out, along with the fuel pump and sending unit. I can’t seem to find a sending unit that has great reviews. And almost all of them say it was not a 100% match. Any recommendations on where to find a new one?
I'm looking at getting a shift extension for my '90 5speed. Anyone know the threads on the stock riser? Thanks in advanced.
Seller says it spent most of its life out west and that there is basically no rust on it. 4.0l automatic with 90k miles. It has been repainted though, but was told no accidents or damage. I know 4x4 are generally more sought after, but it's not a big concern for me. I definitely plan to look it over very well, but if all those claims are true and there are no significant rust issues, does this seem like a good price? I have been looking for a comanche for a very long time and most of the ones I have seen are completely beat up or rusted in half.
I got my first car from my grandpa a few years ago and it was a 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer Olympic Edition, long story short I made a dumb decision to drink and drive one night and crashed into a concrete pole, I put a V in the frame and destroyed the front end, but I was fine and drove it home, drove it for 30 minutes the next day with no radiator and no power steering. Up until that point, I liked the truck, but didn't know anything about cars or the truck itself, but after that I was in love. Over the next year, I rebuilt it piece by piece and learned everything I could about it, which just made me love it more, until I was finally done. Drove it for a month, and was hit by a semi, completely not at fault. I took the insurance money from it, bought this for $900, and over the past year have turned it into this and done a 8.8 swap all with my grandpa's help. Now it's finally ready to daily reliably, and eventually I'll start fixing the Olympic Edition, again. I love the trucks and the time with my grandpa, but I'm ready to just drive the damn things already 😂
I went out of town for a week and parked her in the barn since it was still warm out. Came back and it’s 20° outside and my tires are frozen on the floor. It took a little Cosby sauce to get her going this morning, but she’s gonna be parked in the garage with the heater on for the next few nights. My out of town vehicle will have to go off to the barn instead.
