Issue after Cam Position sensor

This is on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler JKU, I did do the disconnected battery overnight also when changing the sensor.

Got a check engine light a week ago roughly, was the cam position sensor, went to AutoZone and got one and swapped it out. 8 times out of 10 it will start absolutely beautiful now. But every once in a while it seems to go through a few start cycles to start, after it starts it runs beautifully with no issues. We then thought maybe we got a bad sensor so we got one from O’Rileys and it had no issues for 3 days and then today it started to do the odd start every once in a while. I’m attaching a video of what it is doing. I’m sorry about the beeps but you can clearly hear the starting issue.

I was told by a local shop that all aftermarket sensors for the cam position are junk so I’m waiting on the Mopar sensor to be shipped now .

This issue didn’t start till after we changed the stock one out.

Thank you.

Would you trade a jk for tj

Background Started with a stock height ‘88 YJ with very minimal mods (bestop seats, winch, bumpers, not much else). Had that for a year or so when a really good deal popped up on a 2010 2 door JK. Bought the JK and sold the YJ.

The Jk was already lifted 3.5” with 35’s, winch, bumpers, 1 ton steering, chromoly shafts, etc pretty much everything I’d look for in a build other than lockers and a Dana 44 up front

The challenge is, I hardly ever have time to wheel it, and the JK definitely doesn’t have that “go cart” like feel to it anymore that the YJ had.

I’m debating the idea of selling off the JK and moving to a stock height TJ, 31’s, ideally a rubicon for the Dana 44’s and lockers

Anyone done the same (or opposite) and have feedback?

Lease end - warranty question

Hey everyone - my 2021 Wrangler Unlimited is nearing lease end. I am planning on buying it out (securing financing ahead of time and going through leasing company not dealership) but wanted to check as this is my first time. Should I have my mechanic do a once over to see if there’s anything I should file under the warranty before the lease ends? Does the lease end typically mean anything or is it more just the warranty itself? I get you all might need more information - just curious if there are typical things to get checked / fixed under the warranty, ie that corrosion issue I’ve heard about.

Thanks!

Ok guys, where do I start?

I've got bells ringing, lights flashing. It feels like Christmas every day in my 2010 Rubicon. I cleaned my battery terminals real nice and got no lights for about ten minutes and thought I fixed it all. I guess I just got lucky. Where do I start looking?

2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

I’m looking at a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 210,000 miles on the clock. It’s a private sale, and the owner says they’ve kept up with maintenance. I haven’t checked it out in person yet, so I’m hoping to get some insight. Is a Wrangler with this mileage a potential project, or could it still have life left?

I am in no way a machinic and was curious if there is anything I should look out for that could be major issues.

They are asking $8000

Tops off… aaaand rain

I left my tops off the last few days not expecting rain… so of course it did last night. It wasn’t a sprinkle, but wasn’t a downpour. Any pro tips other than wipe it down and let it air out before putting the tops back on?

1997 Jeep Wrangy

I have a 97 wrangler. It runs perfectly however the gauges went out. They worked perfectly fine for a long time and then slowly over time they would flicker and sometimes work and then not work other times. Now they don’t work at all and I have no idea how fast I’m going or how much gas I have. Before I take it to a shop somewhere, does anyone have an idea what it might be before I get charged for something I might not actually need that way I have some sort of idea? They still light up when I turn the headlights on they just don’t show any info. Any advice is appreciated!! :)

Step or no step?

Any input on if my JKU would look better without the side step? It’s 2.5 inch lift and 33”s so I hit my knee/shin on the damn thing all the time and have never put my foot on it to get in but I don’t want to take it off if it’s going to look bad.

Idle rpm on older models?

I've got an 05 6.0, it's idled around 600-700 since I bought it in 2010. Recently started idling 1000-1200. I had a few mechanics look at it for other problems, none could figure them out, I took it to a dealer who fixed the other problems but said it's normal for them to idle this high. Has mine been idling really low this whole time or is the service department where I'm at full of it?

New 2024 4xe Rubicon

I recently acquired a 24’ 4xe Rubicon and have noticed the speakers are not great, also no subwoofer. Has anyone replaced their speakers yet and/or installed a sub yet. If so where did you get it and how and where was it installed. Pictures would be great.

In the market for a TJ

Right, I’m looking to step into a TJ…possibly. What are the big red flags when buying these vehicles? Rust for example, where are they susceptible and will those rust areas be easy to see from underneath the car for eg.

4.0l looks like the engine to have, but any other advice of what I should be aiming for would be helpful. Prices ranging from 7-13k it seems.

I’m in the UK. Thanks!

Christmas wreath on spare tire

Hello! So this year is my first year with a Jeep wrangler and I want to decorate my spare tire sometime in November for the holiday season! I already bought outdoor garland but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on lights and what’s legal in NY. I have a 2009 2 door with a soft top and I’d personally rather not have something plugged into anything under the hood, I would rather some kind of battery pack option. I don’t know if I should go with colored lights or white. I was thinking of getting maybe 5 or 6ft of battery operated string lights and wrapping them around the tire with the garland, then slipping the remaining lights and battery back into the soft top so it’s out of the weather. Let me know any suggestions :) thank you!
