In my first ever post here, someone suggested I tie this pattern and I think it came out pretty good, I’m even getting the posts down a little more efficiently it seems. This community has been really cool so far thanks for all the encouraging words and suggestions. I’m stoked!
Pretty happy how this one came out
The man, the myth, the legend. His contributions to this hobby+art are incalculable. His Pop Fleyes book opened my eyes (along with so many others) to a new world of possibilities.
Figured I would post here for anyone who hadn't heard the sad news.

My brothers wife is Alaska native and is licensed to buy/harvest/craft with stuff like ivory, seal pelts/polar bear pelts etc. Would there be any more interest or benefit to flies tied with these materials? Edit: I just realized It auto corrected the title to poor bear 🤦♂️
Just started trying to learn and I keep having an issue of when I am wrapping the thread around the hook the the thread keeps breaking. The thread came from one of the Orvis kits and I feel like I am not pulling on it all that hard. Any ideas?

Hey there, tying up some patterns here soon for the spring for stripers and blues on the fly out by island beach state park in NJ and trying to decide what hook size to go with for most of the common patterns , 1/2 and 1/2 , decievers, hollow flyers, clousers , ep shad and peanut butter etc
Would 1/0 to 2/0 be the most common size ?
Any thoughts on brass or tungsten dumbbell/hourglass eyes for whatever hook size is suggested vs lead 7/? Just go up a size for brass and down a size for tungsten ?
I have tried to tie but I think I would rather take a poke to the eye with a sharp stick than tie my own. I spend way to much on flies fishing. I so apricate those who do tie my flies, probably more than you realize.
Where do sell them? Do you ever sell them here on Reddit?
Why are foam body mayflies so damn expensive? Are they that hard to tie?
Inspired by a friend on the Spey pages.
Has anyone used chenille in place of dubbing and caught fish with the product? Bought a materials kit off Amazon that came with a bunch of flashy and fuzzy chenille. Tied some nymphs with it and I like how they look. Is there a reason I don't see many flies that include chenille on here, in the shop, on YouTube, etc?
Not my best work in regards to proportions but it made me chuckle.
