Can't find a list of ballot drop boxes, anyone got one to share?
Anybody know a good place where i wont be ripped off?
Hi Michiganders!
I lived in the US for 5 years, 2 of which in Ann Arbor, and moved back to my home country in Europe last year. I'm wondering how y'all feel about the upcoming elections. I'm back home now, and while I loved my time in the US (esp in MI!), I'm a bit relieved I'm no longer there when I watch the news.
I was in AA during the previous elections/covid and it was a bit of a scary time. How are y'all doing? Are you worried/excited/scared about election day and it's aftermath (whoever might win)? How do you cope? Do you watch CNN nonstop or blocking all media?
Anyone willing to share (and I don't mean your political preferences but just how you experience the whole election times in general)?
Just wondering if anyone has advice or knows anyone that works at the venue to help out?? I recently bought tickets to surprise my boyfriend with one of his favorite artists. He rarely does anything nice for himself and works really hard. Unfortunately, I am not well versed in ticket buying either and they aren’t ideal (Section 118, Row 21🥲). I’ve tried contacting StubHub, TicketMaster to try and exchange them for seats a little closer or even floor and nothing can be done:(
Any contact with staff working at the venue that night or ways to get into floor? Just need opinions/info on the best way to navigate this:)
Hoping someone can help me out here, the name completely fell out of my head and this has been driving me nuts all night. Yelp reviews are no help and there are so many Chinese places on Google maps that it's easier to ask.
I have fond memories of watching the huge bright fishtank waiting for a table or takeout as a kid and they always had little rabbit fur animals for sale at the register in a glass case. The aquarium was on the right wall in the waiting area and the trinket case/register were tucked in the corner after it. I'm pretty sure it was in Wayne county toward Detroit but not all the way to the city. Grew up in Belleville and the drive felt a little long for takeout as a kid but not as far as the Marlboro Man or the big tire. The dining room was really nice, lacquered carved wood everywhere and low lighting with a ton of pretty decorations. The sweet and sour chicken was yellow instead of the basic red syrup and always had good chunks of pineapple and a couple cherries. The egg rolls and sauce were fire and I'd always dump any that was left on my rice or even just drink it out of the cup if there was enough left.
I live out in the middle of nowhere now and someone brought me home some "you have to try these" egg rolls with tangy dipping sauce that made me go "Oh holy shit these taste like childhood" but they were from a place in Brighton and we never went out that way as a kid. I can't really text my parents to ask but one's from Allen Park and the other from Westland so it might have been one of those areas? Hope this rings a bell for someone local and I don't have egg rolls chasing me through an aquarium in my dreams about it.
Does anyone have recs for crazy/weird/fun restaurants (with good food of course)?? I’m going to see my college freshy brother and want to take him someplace cool for dinner
If you have seen signs marked, you know what I’m talking about. Been seeing them all over the last couple months.
There was a guy (possibly dead) laying outside of a red truck flat on the ground and a bunch of fire trucks and police came rushing in
Planning to host a DJ night in the Detroit area next spring. Looking for smaller, affordable venues! Max 300 people for capacity. I’ve reached out to a few places already, but some venues it’s been 2 weeks with no response. Any recommendations/info appreciated!
Madison heights area, but i will definitely drive a total of 20 minutes each way for the right deal. Jet's? Louie's? Cottage Inn? Not papa johns.
Give me your recommendations, extra points if a coupon is involved.
Edit: thanks everyone for the suggestions. Current front runner is jets by popular demand, but I'm open to other suggestions. Keep 'em coming
I’m looking for some straw bales, if you want yours picked up let me know I want them for my garden.
theres a crazy loud metal road plate installed outside my apartment. it rumbles so loudly when cars drive across it and echoes inside my building, ive called all the public service departments to find out who can take care of it, to no avail. its drivng me nuts please. i need help who do i contact
Being so close to election day I wish I could just shut off my phone, Between 20 and 30 text messages a day about voting and multiple calls. If I wasn’t contractor would’ve shut my phone off weeks ago. Not to mention the people going door-to-door.
I am disgusted by the lack of Maintenance on Michigan Ave Between I-275 and Haggerty Rd which is in Canton, MI in Western Wayne County. There's Dead Animal Corpses that have been laying in the road for more than 2 weeks along with potholes that will damage anyone's tires if they go 55 mph when driving over them with trash scattered all over the area. It's Bad enough that we have potholes that could've at least been patched until the Wayne County Road Commission can resurface it in the spring. Btw, the damaging potholes are found in the right two lanes when you get past the Northbound Ramp for I-275 on the westbound side which causes me to slow down to avoid damaging my tires. The Potholes are worse on the Westbound side than the Eastbound side of US 12. This Makes me furious and disgusted when I have to commute from my residence in the Metro Detroit area to College as a student who has to commute to a neighboring county about 18 miles west from Westland, MI where we have a bridge that still isn't done yet with the estimated ETA probably being December at the earliest for that being complete. Whenever the road commission does come out onto that part of US 12, they bring it down to one lane and either put patches down that deteriorate over the winter or doing a partial resurfacing instead of resurfacing the entire section of the road. I'm Tired of Looking at the animal corpses on my way to class each and every day 4 days a week. They need to do a emergency repair for the Potholes along with resurfacing that entire Section of Road on Both the Westbound and Eastbound sides in the spring. In the Meantime, They need to Come out and get those Animal Corpses Cleaned Up along with performing the emergency repair for the Potholes to get us through the winter ASAP!
Did anyone else see the graphic ad that aired on channel 4 around 11am today? They had a disclaimer and said that the views expressed weren’t the networks, and said they had to air political ads unedited. It was a bunch of aborted babies and people being lynched. Some pastor talking about how Kamala wants to continue the black genocide?
I was watching tv with my 5 year old son and was not prepared for the graphic nature of the ad (especially so early in the day, considering the strictness of the FCC)
Who was the pastor? Why is he saying these things and putting ads like this on the air?
I’m pretty sure there were more grants based on the other $8-9M that the state received the last few years. Is it me or do they always have their hand out?
Where can I donate non-perishable food in metro Detroit? I used to use the Detroit Community Fridges but they seem to be defunct, and I tried Google but it only turned up places one could get food, or the option to make a monetary donation.
Thanks!
Does anyone know places for sure that will accept candy donations? There’s a few dated articles I found but wanted to know for sure. I’m headed out this afternoon and would like to do a drop off if possible. I’m in Oakland county and will be headed to midtown this afternoon.
Thanks!!
Was supposed to go with a friend but they had to cancel last minute. Looking for some cool people to hang with when I go Saturday! I’m dressing up as 2b from Nier Automata.
I really love the neighborhood and the apartment buildings themselves, however the google reviews are somewhat sus regarding auto break ins. Looking for anecdotes from those that live/have lived there. Would you recommend it?
