Hi! I'm a high school senior interested in studying nursing and as this is one of my options, I was interested in how the nursing program is, as well as Wayne as a whole compared to other universities in Michigan.
Anyone else here graduated from MISB in the last 2 years and still can’t land a job? Starting to get irritated I spent all this time and money and it’s impossible to land an entry level job even with referrals.
Who do I report advisors too?
Even if you don’t struggle in math ESP/RSP is extraordinary. They care, they help, take advantage!
I plan to take it with the porfessor called zhu zhe and I've seen some interesting reviews. For those who have taken it, what can I expect?
Hi everyone! I'm a pre-MLS major seeking people who are in the program to help me answer some questions, as I'm about to apply to its professional program soon.
Is the interview hard?
How difficult is it to get in?
If I don't get the admission, what's next?
Thank you in advance!
Can freshman live off campus? Don’t wanna live in dorms
Im transferring from HFC and my GPA rn is 2.466 The engineering requirement is 2.5.
I plan on applying soon, but is it possible that I'd get rejected because im not at 2.5?
By the time the fall semester ends my GPA should be above a 2.5 but I obviously cant wait until my grades are up.
Please let me know, Thanks!
Im a freshman and college and wanna make the most of it by trying different courses to see if I’d like to do it as a hobby. Next Semester im taking photography just to see if I like it. Im just wondering what other classes there are that I could make a hobby of.
Side note: Is there a auto shop class? Ive been seeing people modding cars and i thought it would be cool to take an autoshop class to learn the basics of car maintenance and see if I like any of that stuff.
Hi! I am a prospective transfer student meeting with my advisor and I had a couple questions regarding people’s experience or wanted to see if anyone had any general advice for me :)
I am meeting via zoom, should I send my transcripts in an email to my advisor beforehand? I am first gen and navigating the college process by myself so anything would be helpful!
Someone please tell me failing calculus 2 at Wayne is normal before I jump a bridge
Hey Everyone. I need to take PS1010 as a gen ed requirement. Several professors are offering this course. Any recommendations?
hoping to get 3 extra tickets to the 9am and 3 extra for the 2pm commencement ceremony this Saturday. I'd be willing to pay for them! Pm me if you have tickets to sell.
I know A&P is going to be difficult, but should I take it during the summer? If I do I will only be taking the lecture and lab for it.. any tips or opinions?
Has anyone submitted a graduate application and on the application checklist it shows two boxes for unofficial transcripts? Like idk why there's two and not just one. Also the box for unofficial English proficiency scores shows as received but I didn't upload any scores and I'm a Canadian student (so I don't even need to)
I’m a junior majoring in supply chain. Next semester I’m only taking 9 credits for my business classes, and the rest will be electives. Is there any elective classes you guys enjoyed?
Did anyone have Prof Farhat Chowdhury for ECO 2010 this fall semester? It seems like she’s a new teacher here and has no reviews on ratemyprofessor.com so wanted to see if anyone has any experience with her, as she’s the only teacher offering ECO 2010 online for winter!
Should I withdraw from BIO 1050 as a pre-nursing major if I know I won’t have a grade that looks good on my transcript (A or B)? By the end of the semester I’ll have 3 A’s and one B, if I stay in BIO the highest I would be able to get my current grade up to is probably a C- or C.
And if I do withdraw, would that mean I would have to take it again next semester, and than BIO 1510 with lab the corresponding year?
I’ve already emailed my advisor, just waiting to hear back from her. Any advice would be appreciated tho!
Hi, does anyone know if there’s a place on or near campus that I can go to vote early in person before election day?
For Bio 3100, Jared Schrader is teaching in the winter semester. I was wondering if anyone has taken him and knows how he teaches, how his exams are, if attendance is mandatory, if lecture is recorded, if there’s iClicker? I did look at his rmp, but some comments seemed a bit contradictory 😅 thank you!
Hi everyone, I have a quick question. Let’s say someone has difficulty being in open spaces and needs support to get to class. Would Wayne State University accommodate this kind of request? Does anyone know if they offer assistance for this, and if so, how to go about getting that support? Any help or advice is appreciated!
Thanks!
Anyone have either Jian Huang or Nausheen Shah for physics? Taking the class next semester with them.
Just wanted to know if there is anything happening on Halloween. I have no plans that day and kinda want to go do something besides sit at home after class.
I know the UGL and Mort Harris gym closes at 11 most days, but I’d like to know if anything closes past midnight
Also was wondering what is the course load for anyone who has taken Psych research methods in psychology? Or even a professor they recommend.
My main classes this semester are really tough so I need a easy class that i wont really need to study for maybe just like hw, and essays or stuff like that. I've taken classes like this for my cultural inquiry and DEI. Please let me know if anyone know any professors or classes like this.
This post is for those who want to become teachers and are interested in going to Wayne.
Don't. Don't do it. The classes are fine, the teachers are fine. But the clinicals/student teaching will make you miserable. The department for education is SO PAINFUL it's baffling. They will place you in schools that are an hour drive from where you live (MANY are in this position). If you have a very serious problem, you will have to persistently dog on them so that MAYBE they will help. And I want to stress that "maybe", because some people just get left hanging.
So unorganized, so lacking in empathy.
Notable:
Many students in pre-student teaching are placed in very far away schools. Too many of us have an hour drive one-way. And that's in these conditions, it would be much longer in winter with the snowy roads. And they said their goal is to place us in the same schools for student teaching.
One student only needs one class to graduate, but they don't offer it until 2026 since it's a special program. Their suggestion? Find a different university
For your clinicals you have to observe a teacher in a classroom for about 40 hours @ a 3hrs 1x a week cap. Some students had their teacher leave for weeks so she could give birth and take care of the newborn. A student asked what to do "Could I observe the sub?" Department said no. "What should I do then?" Department ignored his messages. And as a cherry on top the student still had to make up those hours.
For your clinicals you are also assigned a coach, and you are required to have meeting with them multiple times in order to pass the course. The problem is that some of them simply vanish off the face of this earth and don't respond to emails. Not the admin's fault but this is something you may deal with.
I'm not sure why they are like this when they apparently weren't before. I just thought I would warn you how things are right now. Hopefully they improve, but right now you might be better off finding a different university IF YOU WANT TO BE A TEACHER. The only reason I'd consider coming here is if they transfer your credits nicely, or if it's the nearest university to your house.
Idk I might be stressing myself out but can I? Im in the ESP math class where its a Lecture and then a Workshop. The work shop only allows 4 absences and I already have 2 due to random unforeseen events. Im worried because I was reading an article and it said the midwest was going to have a “La Nina” winter and that has me overthinking a bit.
Long story short, what happens if I get more than 4 absences in the workshop? Can I still pass the original math Lecture or are they connected?
