(Sorry if i did this wrong this is my first ever reddit question) š
Currently have a green terror (FEMALE) jewel cichlid (not for long) dimerus , and a parrot. Upgrading from a 60 to a 75 so Iām thinking one more cichlid, maybe two smaller ones after I get rid of the jewel. Any ideas?
I was thinking maybe a species only tank males and females look different my only thought is how many females or alternates that the johnni would not kill
Sometimes cichlids end up with eye damage? One if the best things you can do is up the water change. Consistently clean water is key to healing many issues with cichlids.
I got this guy and few other from a local who had to move. He arrived with a super cloudy right eye, upped the water changes and Seachem stress guard, here he is two weeks later. Seeing progress hopefully š¤ we can get this guys healed up.
Do you recharge or toss them (to be safe) ?
If you recharge, how many recharges do you realistically get before it's effectiveness reduces noticeably ?
How often do you recharge or replace on a cichlid tank ?
Iāve heard of people doing this so I tried it today. They have paid zero attention to the two slices in there so far. Anything I can do to make this more enticing? Does it take a while for them to notice it? How long until I should remove?
This is Jeremy, my massive blue Acara/Gold Saum hybrid. She is the centerpiece of my tank and about 7ā long.
I started a 150 gal. African cichlid tank and I did a fishless cycle. Before placing my first fish in the tank I did a water change. My ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrates are 10. I got my first fish (he is alone, I was afraid to add the first fish so I just wanted to start with one). For the first couple of days he was hiding, but for the last 24hours he just swims up and down the glass. He eats and when I walk up to the tank he stops, but i am concerned there might be a larger issue. Could it be boredom? Should I hold off on adding more fish? Thank you!
Not sure what I have here- heās actually more purple/very dark blue unlike the black he looks like in he picture with reddish yellow tips along his top fin and a hint of red along his gills. Definitely male between the color, his attitude, and heās developed egg spots. Also, based on whatever he is how aggressive should I expect? I have a pretty aggressive tank but donāt want a bully
Hi guys,
I'm looking at setting up a new world tank with some discus. I understand they like a minimum of 28c and wanted to know what other fish can be kept with them. I've seen them kept with angels and I've been looking at dwarf cichlids as well. Also what new world tetra are OK at these temps as I'm worried cardinals will be an expensive snack for the angels š¬
Thank you in advance for any advice!
Hi all! I am new to the cichlid world, I have a 75 gallon with a 10 tiger barbs, 2 blue acara, and 2 t bars. I looked in my tank today and both of the blue acaras are guarding what I assume is eggs! Is there anything I should do with them??
Blue Peacock I bought on a whim online two years ago. He's 5" now.
Got this royal blue peacock a few months ago from livefishdirect. It was supposed to be a male, and it arrived with gorgeous standout blue coloring, so I didnāt question it. Now since Iāve gotten it out of quarantine and into my main tank, itās colored down, started holding its mouth like this and stopped eating. Itās been like this approx 2 weeks. I was pretty certain this was egg holding off the bat, but itās been long enough now that Iām questioning it. I havenāt been able to vent the fish bc itās small (under 3ā) and incredibly fast and good at hiding.
Hi all! This is my first time using an egg tumbler and Iām not sure how much they should be bouncing. I have my air pump on the lowest setting but Iām not sure if thatās too much or not. Thank you!
