I am relocating to Mattoon soon. Is there recycling available for the area?
I recently got hired as an engineer at one of the plants in Decatur for ADM. Start date in a couple weeks. My goal is to eventually get into senior management or work in the corporate offices near the plant as I am currently pursuing my MBA.
Does anyone have any experience with the company and its advancement of its employees internally? Thanks in advance!
Wondering if anyone in the Decatur area seen any for sale?
Hello all,
I have a job opportunity for an experienced individual who has a background in alterations of any kind in Peoria. It is a full time position with benefits and good pay and monthly bonus opportunities!
Please let me know if you are interested and I’ll send you more information!
So I had a number calling me saying someone crashed their car and I left my number on their windshield I keep having this person harass and calling me . Should I be concerned??
My wife and I (both women) are looking to move out there to be closer to her family. How accepting is this area? Will we have to worry about being, well... unwelcome? We are coming from a small, but fairly progressive town in Oregon. I plan to take the Illinois bar exam and set up a small estate planning law practice. My wife is a counselor.
We are both easy going types. We try to get along with everyone, though sometimes people are just not willing to accept lgbtq people. The only time I've lived in the Midwest was for boot camp many years ago, so I know nothing about it except what I read and see in the news. We are looking at buying a house with a basement, though. I hear that's a must. ;)
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome!
Official unemployment figures for the Decatur economy were updated today. Numbers for March have been finalized and preliminary figures for April have now been made available.
March
The unemployment rate fell to 6.2% in March. 309 positions were added, with only 251 workers entering the labor force causing the unemployment rate decrease. The overall Nonfarm Payrolls figure did not change significantly. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
April (preliminary)
The unemployment rate fell to 5.7% in April. 17 positions were lost, but 272 workers exiting the labor force caused the unemployment rate to decrease. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 800. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.

I used to go to an Elementary School called Daniel Elementary. It was located just off of Georgetown Rd. in Tilton, IL. I had to go through this weird tunnel under Georgetown Rd. to get to it, which connected in the parking lot of a Dollar General.
I'm 36 now and am pretty nostalgic. When I attempted to revisit this place on Google Maps, I saw that it no longer existed. In fact it was seemingly abandoned and torn down shortly after I moved onto Middle School. I had no idea.
When I looked this place up, the only pictures I can find are REALLY old, like black and white old. It's almost like this school never actually existed (but it did, of course). I was surprised at how much nobody really cared about it being demolished so I'm taking a shot in the dark here and wondering if anyone happens to have anything or used to go there. I'd really like to see it again in some capacity, for nostalgia sake.
Thanks.
Hey everyone,
I've recently been wanting to bury our Sump Pump drainage pipe. It currently comes out near our basement storm door stairs and pours out into a part of my front lawn from a metal pipe about 15 feet away, which causes it to flood and kill the vegetation. Its also a pain for mowing in the area.
Haven't lived in Ottawa long but locally born and raised (Marseilles/Seneca most my life). I just can't seem to find any information regarding if a permit is needed to do this in the city of Ottawa. It would in the same area, just underground with an overflow vent flush to the grass line to keep flooding to a minimum, no where near the road/storm drains. I would be calling 811 prior to the dig, just want to know if a city permit was needed!
As a secondary question, I have two gutter drains in the backend of my house I also would like to bury, as they also have a few feet of metal pipe running across the grass, which is a nuisance while mowing. Not sure if these are considered under any needed permits or if those are a separate situation.
Has anyone in central Illinois seen any? I haven't seen any in my area of East central Illinois.
