Also, I'm hoping to recruit a few people to help edit the Springfield, IL videos. I try to keep the video edits neutral and focused on the most important topics. It's volunteer work that takes a couple hours for each video. I'd like to split the work between people, so you'd be signing up for approximately 1 or 2 meetings per month. Soon, we hope to add the Sangamon County meetings.
Message me if you're interested.
I have 2 extra spots available on 2 separate permits one for the 3rd and one for the 6th of November at Jim Edgar panther creek check in time 8:00am please pm for more details
Today I was listening to an interview with the Sangamon County Recorder. It sounds like he’s been doing the job for a while and has made improvements. The opposing candidate said if he wins he wants to shut down the office and merge the duties with the County Clerk. I suppose I don’t know much about the services provided by the County Recorder but I’m wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on the race?
Does anyone know of a place who can take an infant soon? We just had our daycare telling us they will close by the end of the year so we are really in a crunch.
Any fine line/delicate tattoo artists in the area? Business name or Facebook page would help a lot too. Thank you!
Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere around here, ideally not too far away, that is a good place to go and look at the stars?
Any local testing center here? Need to renewal my licence plate and not really seeing anything online. TIA!
Best place to get a wedding dress dry cleaned and possibly preserved? thank you!
I’m looking for information on preschools in and around Springfield. And how much do they cost?
I have autism and some fun accompanying sensory issues. I just started an office job and I've always wanted to have pretty nails, but I've been in food service and unable to have fake nails. I need a salon that won't be weird or think I'm rude if I say I have sensory issues and need to have headphones in and eyes closed while I get my nails done. Anyone have any suggestions?
The new master plan for downtown Springfield was released last week, see:
https://www.springfield.il.us/Docs/PublicNotice/SpringfieldMasterPlan101824.pdf
Here are some questions that I've been asking myself:
Will the changes in the plan be the impetus for any large corporation (e.g., LRS, Bunn, Brandt) to relocate to downtown?
If implemented, will it significantly affect the number citizens visiting downtown from the west side, lake area, Chatham, etc.?
If implemented, will downtown zoning be modified to accommodate a 'restaurant row', 'bar row', etc?
When complete, will it have a lasting impact on downtown tourism?
Did the plan adequately address the underlying issue of downtown population density? (ie, having city planners to fight suburban sprawl)
To redevelop downtown, significant financing will be required. Is the amount in the plan correct?
Were solutions to the immediate issues adequately addressed? (homelessness, etc.)
There's some interesting stuff in the plan - but I still have lots of questions.
What do other people think?

Just got my first bike ever (cbr 650r) and wondering if there’s anyone trying to link up and ride some time (maybe even give me some pointers bc im as green as it gets rn lmao) Here in the area for a few months for work and tryna meet some people. I always see a green ninja and I think a black r3 riding near my hotel off veterans pkwy.
Had a nice moment on FB with Andrew Bartlet, owner of OOT Box Media on a post he shared of RFKJr at a Turning Point PAC rally regarding a debunked conspiracy theory surrounding the planned use of lethal military force against US citizens. I commented three times, shared a fair source (AP via ABC News), and called him out for fear-mongering. Those things were enough for him to melt like a snowflake and block me from the post, unfriend me, and hide his profile from me; the trifecta! This dude is deep in the kool-aid if he can’t handle some light-handed pushback.
So I live on the North end and I have seen a handful of people post in the Facebook foodies group or whatever about ridge avenue grocer and that they have incredible Middle Eastern food.
Has anyone eaten there, and what was your experience like?
Money is a little tight for me these days but I’m wondering if anyone knows of a good brake place that could get my front brakes done for a decent price? Thank you.
Looking for recommendations on shops for allocated/local/craft bourbons. Preferably ones without museum prices. Drop your favorite regulars
Hey I have plans to do a new gay bar in next couple of years and just looking for ideas as to where would be a good location.
Any ideas for a specific location? I’m looking to rent or buy a place, I will offer eat-in, take out, and free delivery for order that are 30+ dollars.
I’d love to open downtown but it’s too much of a ghost town after 5 and on weekends, plus pick up orders will be a pain for most customers if I open downtown. The west end and Chatam area would prob be best for my business because that’s literally where everyone eats these days. I’d love to open on the north end or east end but I’ve been advised not to because it won’t get much business unless it’s delivery orders, which will mainly be deliveries to the west end.
Help!!
I have tried multiple times to post this question, but I think the "T" is LGBTQ is being incorrectly flagged as "sxual activity." 🙄 So, I'm going to try again without saying that word?
My husband and I are both FTMs and have a child together who my husband carried. We are afraid to leave MN, but our families live near Springfield. Do you think the community would be accepting of our family?
Hi! I'm hoping to tackle the kitchen remodel in the coming year. At the very least, new cabinets and countertops. Cabinet Land has been recommended and I know I can't afford Dream Makers. Does anyone have any other suggestions for that sweet spot of affordability and quality work?
Thank you!
Does anyone know of any easily accessible prairie remnants in Springfield? There was a nice field maybe two or three acres in Southern View. The land was old ymca baseball fields that had been unused for 25 years. There was a lot of native plants and wildlife here. I saw all types of milkweed, clover, iron weed, partridge pea, and probably more I don’t even know the names of. Unfortunately this got plowed, it looks like they are maybe going to farm the land now? Anyway I didn’t get to harvest the iron weed or whorled milkweed that grew there that I did not have. It sucks cus the Monarch’s really liked the iron weed and I was hoping to get some. So this gets us to the question? Anyone know of any prairie remnants in Springfield? Really want to get some native seeds.
My brother lives over by the hospitals, and says his T-Mobile internet is garbage, and is looking for a reasonable, unlimited option. Anyone had good/ bad from Musk-net? My friends in the country have it, and "like it" for the options they have, but it's a big expense...
