Hey, everyone! I'm hoping to get some recommendations on mortgage lenders in the CU area that specialize in FHA loans. Please share your experiences! Any feedback is appreciated.
Hello fellow Chambana residents! If anyone knows of a hairstylist who could replicate a picture, do a shortish cut on a queer gal, I'd be more than grateful to get their name. Thank you!
Recent adult transplant to the area - why do Urbana's borders make such a weird shape? Something doesn't add up because the mayor is complaining about the population loss and calling a special census when it seems like there are a few big neighborhoods on the north and east sides that the city could easily annex to pick up population. Is there some reason as to why the city hasn't done this? Thanks!

Here's an update on the mural project to commemorate the band American Football in Champaign-Urbana! (The original description for the project is at the bottom of this post.)
Side note: I have no affiliation with the band. My whole goal is to help take this city to the next level.Ā =)
-----
In 1997, three University of Illinois students formed the band American Football. In their final four days of college in 1999, they recorded their self-titled album, American Football. Though they had modest expectations for the record, it has become beloved internationally and is ranked in the top 10 albums of 1999. (Check out the petition to read more information about the band and project.)
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the album, this is a petition to gauge public support for a mural celebrating the band. Feel free to view the petition at the link below, and sign it if you'd like!

Watch: American Football - Never Meant (Filmed in Champaign-Urbana)
We've got two film screenings this month, one on Sunday the 17th, and one on Sunday the 24th. Both at the Savoy 16 + IMAX at 4pm.
The first is The Problem Of The Hero, a fictional narrative piece based on true events.
Before the events of the film, in 1940, Richard Wright wrote the novelĀ Native Son, about Bigger Thomas, a 20-year-old black youth living on Chicagoās South Side, who accidentally kills a white woman. It was an immediate best-seller.
Later that year, Orson Welles approached Wright about turning the book into a play and hired Wright and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright & social activist Paul Green to turn the book into a play. After handing in the script, Green returns home. The night before the film begins, Green attends a dress rehearsal of the play and discovers that they have changed some of the script. He is especially incensed that they have changed the ending of the film.
During the course of the film, Wright and Green have a sometimes friendly, sometimes heated argument centered around the changes in the play, but also expanding to larger issues about art, politics, race, class, commerce and their personal histories. They argue so strongly, that after the events of the film, the two never speak again.
While The Problem Of The Hero is still playing on the festival circuit, itās scheduled for a wider release next year, and it only has 11 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it holds aĀ 100% fresh rating.Ā You can read a review atĀ Film Threat, or by one of my favorite critics,Ā The Independent CriticĀ from Indianapolis.
Please give me some good recommendations for apartments in Champaign/urbana/savoy/mahomet. Preferably a good and safe area lol. For me and my girlfriend. 2 bed 2 bath preferably would be AWESOME to have an office/third bed if it's within budget. Budget is about $1250-$1600. Feel free to give recs that are outside of that. Need to be cat friendly as well. Thanks in advance!
Whatās the cheapest vape shop for Geek Bar Pulse ? I used to go to the one by TJ Maxx but apparently they closedā¦seemingly overnight.
Illini Vintage Fest Tomorrow!
Illini Vintage Fest will be at the Lincoln Square mall with ~60 vendors selling vintage clothes, U of if I gear, jewelry and more!
Open from 11-6pm! Feel free to ask any questions.
There are several buses that will take you here as wellš¤
I need to have a medical procedure done at Fields where I'll be knocked out. They said I need to have someone drop me off so they can see who that is, and then I need to have someone pick me up afterward. They'll know who the pick up person is since they saw them at the drop off.
It's just me though. I don't know anyone here. Are there any options I'm not aware of for processes like that like? Surely, I'm not the only one. Any vehicle services for medical procedures like disabled and elderly people have? There is a bus system with stops there but when I asked Fields they said I needed someone going in and out with me. They also said they have never hear of someone not having someone to drop off or pick them up, but that's my case. I really doubt I'm the only one. If it's wasn't the bus even a taxi or uber could probably work. It doesn't sound like they want that at all though.
It is one unit in a 4 bed 4 bath apartment. 2 of the rooms are vacant, and the third room would be occupied only till December. (i.e., as of now, no one else would be in the apartment from Jan to July 2025. However, there is no guarantee that it will remain empty).
The rent is $555 per month (out of which $50 goes towards your utilities). Parking and Internet is included in the rent. It is at capstone quarters. You would need renters insurance. There is a 1 time sublease fee of $250, and an application fee (I think $20).
The apartment includes washer/dryer, dishwasher, access to gym, access to study area, access to lounge, access to a 20 seater theater.
Attaching few images. Happy to send more images if you are interested. Please contact with questions or if you need more info
I'm a mid 30's professional considering taking a job at the university, but would be commuting into town 5 days a week (about 55 min from my house; so a good chunk of time going both ways). I have two grade-school age kids who live with me 50% of the time, so on the days they are with me, I need to be home with them. But on my days without them, I'd prefer to be around the energy of the university and to avoid the long commute. For that reason, I'm considering to buy a 2 bedroom condo in town. I'd probably want to rent one of the rooms out to make it financially easier to swing.
Pretty new to this area (moved from CA) so just thought to ask this group what would be a reasonable rent range to ask for a roommate to pay to share a nice 2 bedroom condo/townhouse?
Does anyone know where to purchase MoJo at in the Champaign area. I just moved up here, in Louisiana you can find it at almost every store. Is it not legal here in Illinois?
Hi friends!
I have a ring I need to get resized and reset. It was my grandmotherās but it definitely does not fit, darn her skinny fingers. Iād also like to get it appraised so I can insure it accurately. Does anyone have a jeweler that theyād recommend for it?
Thanks!
Looking for anyone who's a fan of Gezebelle Gaburgably to attend the concert next weekend with! I was pleasantly surprised when I found out she'd be coming here but then I realized I have no one to go with :(
But if the interest is great enough that she's doing a show, there's gotta be fellow Gez heads here!
Please let me know if you're out there. I'd much rather get snailpilled with company :)

Have you ever wanted to have a painting of your partner, a family portrait, your dog or whatever your favorite photo is? I always loved the idea of painting but unfortunately I'm not the best at it. A few months ago though a friend and I came up with a cool idea, what if you could turn any photo you want into a paint by numbers. That way anyone can paint, anything they want.
We looked up custom paint by numbers and found a few Etsy stores selling them but they were way overpriced and most of them didn't even come with the canvas on a frame. So we looked around and talked to a bunch of suppliers, eventually we managed to produce custom paint by number kits cheaper then anywhere else and already framed (you can still order them without a frame but we found most people want them ready to go out of the box).
Long story short though we're trying to grow and get more people talking about us. So we decided it would be a good idea to reach out to some local subreddits and hopefully you'll enjoy them enough to share your experience :)
You can use the code "COSTPRICEREDDIT" to get our kits for cost price (our margins are pretty slim right now we want to be as affordable as possible). You can get up to 4 kits at that price so feel free to buy a few and plan a date night, family activity or just get your Christmas shopping done early.

Major pancake fan, been in town little over 3 years but havenāt really explored the breakfast scene. Whereās the best place that has the best value?
Ello,
I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get some oxtails to prepare at home? TIA!
I am moving to Chambana to because of a job at the University. I have been looking for a furnished room for rent with the possibility of immediate (October) move-in without success. I have a car so can live farther away from campus. Please share if you know of a private landlord is renting with availability now.
