I'm a mid 30's professional considering taking a job at the university, but would be commuting into town 5 days a week (about 55 min from my house; so a good chunk of time going both ways). I have two grade-school age kids who live with me 50% of the time, so on the days they are with me, I need to be home with them. But on my days without them, I'd prefer to be around the energy of the university and to avoid the long commute. For that reason, I'm considering to buy a 2 bedroom condo in town. I'd probably want to rent one of the rooms out to make it financially easier to swing.
Pretty new to this area (moved from CA) so just thought to ask this group what would be a reasonable rent range to ask for a roommate to pay to share a nice 2 bedroom condo/townhouse?
Does anyone know where to purchase MoJo at in the Champaign area. I just moved up here, in Louisiana you can find it at almost every store. Is it not legal here in Illinois?
Hi friends!
I have a ring I need to get resized and reset. It was my grandmother’s but it definitely does not fit, darn her skinny fingers. I’d also like to get it appraised so I can insure it accurately. Does anyone have a jeweler that they’d recommend for it?
Thanks!
Looking for anyone who's a fan of Gezebelle Gaburgably to attend the concert next weekend with! I was pleasantly surprised when I found out she'd be coming here but then I realized I have no one to go with :(
But if the interest is great enough that she's doing a show, there's gotta be fellow Gez heads here!
Please let me know if you're out there. I'd much rather get snailpilled with company :)

Have you ever wanted to have a painting of your partner, a family portrait, your dog or whatever your favorite photo is? I always loved the idea of painting but unfortunately I'm not the best at it. A few months ago though a friend and I came up with a cool idea, what if you could turn any photo you want into a paint by numbers. That way anyone can paint, anything they want.
We looked up custom paint by numbers and found a few Etsy stores selling them but they were way overpriced and most of them didn't even come with the canvas on a frame. So we looked around and talked to a bunch of suppliers, eventually we managed to produce custom paint by number kits cheaper then anywhere else and already framed (you can still order them without a frame but we found most people want them ready to go out of the box).
Long story short though we're trying to grow and get more people talking about us. So we decided it would be a good idea to reach out to some local subreddits and hopefully you'll enjoy them enough to share your experience :)
You can use the code "COSTPRICEREDDIT" to get our kits for cost price (our margins are pretty slim right now we want to be as affordable as possible). You can get up to 4 kits at that price so feel free to buy a few and plan a date night, family activity or just get your Christmas shopping done early.

Major pancake fan, been in town little over 3 years but haven’t really explored the breakfast scene. Where’s the best place that has the best value?
Ello,
I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get some oxtails to prepare at home? TIA!
I am moving to Chambana to because of a job at the University. I have been looking for a furnished room for rent with the possibility of immediate (October) move-in without success. I have a car so can live farther away from campus. Please share if you know of a private landlord is renting with availability now.
I am moving to work at UIUC and there isn't much renovated apartments available anymore. However, google review said the property isn't soundproof. Thoughts?
I need a professional that does dentures but don't know anybody who has them.
I'm wondering if there's anywhere in the CU area that's giving kids ages 3+ their COVID vaccines. The hospitals are saying next week, but places like Costco imply they're available.
Anyone actually get one for their kid(s) recently?
Looking to sell one ticket to see Adeem with special guest Harley Chapeau at the Rose Bowl Tavern Sunday Oct 13th at 7pm $18. They were bought through EventBrite so I can give you the physical ticket
I've been trying to figure this out forever. I'm leaning towards LCOL but was curious what others thought.

Hi all - looking for advice on the best Brazilian wax around town for cheap. Most of the advice I can find is a few years out of date.
In 1997, three University of Illinois students formed the band American Football. In their final four days of college in 1999, they recorded their self-titled album, American Football. Though they had modest expectations for the record, it has become beloved internationally and is ranked in the top 10 albums of 1999.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the album, this is a petition to gauge public support for a mural celebrating the band. Feel free to view the petition at the link below, and sign it if you'd like!

Is the a bar in the area that I could watch the debate at tonight?
The new Chambana Film Festival has been screening a new independent movie every month at the Savoy Theater since March. Our screenings are the last Sunday of every month at 4pm.
This month we've got a bonus movie in the middle of the month, and it's one I'm REALLY excited about. I actually wanted to do this one first, because of the subject matter, but I knew I wouldn't get enough people out before I had a bit of history behind me. Now, there's a national organization behind this screening, and this movie will be shown at 25-50 theaters around the country on September 15th, and you can get tickets for only $5!
In the 1990's, political scientist Robert Putnam warned that engagement with civic groups like parent-teacher organizations, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis, Lion's Club, and even bowling leagues would create a nation divided and might even threaten democracy. Fast forward almost two decades since his groundbreaking book, 2001's Bowling Alone, and what we see now among the American electorate is the decline in that very democracy.
Join or Die charts Putnam's history and research through the lens of extensive interviews with some of the most important intellectuals, politicians, and influencers of the last few years.
The In Real Life (IRL) Movie Club believes so strongly in the film that they're helping get the word out at participating theatres. In an effort to encourage more people to gather and discuss films, they're kicking off this mission on September 15th — the International Day of Democracy by discounting ticket prices for filmgoers who sign up for a free IRL membership. Sign up, and you can see, and discuss, the film for only $5
