Is Haagen-Dazs ok or no? What about Pizza Hut?
Hi everyone! I wanted to ask a few questions that I've searched up but I haven't seen answers to (if these r stupid questions I'm sorry)
1- if a grocery store has done work with Israel in the past but there's nothing with them working with them now, do we still boycott or can I still shop there?
2- a shop that supports Palestine uses PayPal and klarma as one of its payment methods, do you boycott?
3- I'm in volleyball, and I don't go to any clubs right now, but I do privites at this one (basically one on one lessons) but the club gives people (who do a club season there) boycotted shoes (I'm not sure abt the rest of the gear tho), do I stop doing privites? (Btw I pay the person who is teaching me, but they have to rent a court, and I'm assuming that goes to paying the coaches, rent)
4- the city where I live supports Israel, so does that mean I don't buy anything in my city?
Thanks!
So ever since I've heard about the BDS boycott from last year I have been boycotting all brands like Domino's, McDonald's, KFC and all the other companies on the website. Recently someone told me that we actually do not have to boycott Domino's/McDonald's because what happened was that an Israeli Jew who owned a franchise in Israel gave free food to the IDF and that the main owners/CEOs of the company in the US were unaware of this and did not endorse it. And so I was told that we do not actually have to boycott McDonald's or Domino's because it was basically only the owner of the franchise in Israel that was responsible for giving free food to the IDF and we cannot blame the whole company for this one decision as they themselves did not order for this to be done and I was also told that it is not fair since franchise owners in Muslim countries are also losing out on money when they don't have anything to do with it for example a franchisee in the UAE would be losing out money from having a dominos franchise and instead of our boycotts being intended to target the main parent company, we are also causing a loss to franchise owners. I would just like to ask if this is true and if anyone would kindly be able to provide sources to refute or support what I have been told. (About the main companies being unaware of the donations of free food to the IDF and so how it is unfair to boycott them as they did not directly give out those order and that by boycotting we are also causing franchisees in Muslim countries to lose money when they don't have anything to do with it.) Thanks.
Hi, is there any streaming service available in the uk I can pay for that doesn't support Israel? Thanks.
Hi all,
This is one that's maybe slipped through the BDS net. SumUp, who many small companies, independent businesses etc. use, have partnered with a company (Form3) in order to process faster Payments (a type of money transfer). Barclays provides scheme settlement with the Bank of England on behalf of SumUp.
I contacted SumUp with this concern, asking if SumUp paid Barclays for this service (and hence my money was going towards them, too). I was stonewalled for months, with them only eventually settling the matter after I went to the Financial Ombudsman. However, all they would say was that this information was confidential. I wanted to be certain that Barclays were indeed being paid before I boycotted SumUp/told other people to boycott them, but this shady action, ignoring me and refusing to give me an answer, is all the answer I need, really! And if you think about it, OF COURSE Barclays are paid...
TL;DR - Boycott SumUp! They pay Barclays for their services - and if you use them, your money will go directly to Barclays.
