Innisfree cream is so similar to charlotte tilbury magic cream but much cheaper

i got this at 40% off at priceline and this innisfree green tea cream has been AMAZING. i haven’t found this type of watery, hydrating texture in any moisturiser except for the charlotte tilbury magic cream. but it’s only $43 (like $26 on sale) compared to the $100+ magic cream, and it makes for a great base.

this is not sponsored or anything but it just took me so long to find something with this texture - great for dry skin. i got this as a sample from sephora or somewhere i can’t remember but i ended up loving it and bought the full one. i definitely recommend if you liked the CT magic cream. i dont know if its a direct dupe or anything and it’s definitely not the same but the texture feels similar :)

Alternatives to Benzac Acne gel?

I've been using it for 8 or 9 months now and it works super well for me and has helped clear up my bad acne. However, if I'm not super careful it also tends to bleach my towels and very small parts of my clothes.

I was wondering if there is a similar alternative that does not bleach things!!

Suggestions for a chemist warehouse or priceline BB cream?

I really don't like foundation. However, I've got like 3 bb creams one is too orange, one is too pale, and one doesn't seem to stay on

Where can I recycle out of date sunscreen?

I have an assortment of half dead sunscreens cluttering up our bathroom vanity, is there anywhere I can offload them? I know Priceline has cosmetics recycling but am I right in thinking it's only for the smaller sized products?

TIA!

Collagen supplements

Do they actually work? If so, which would you recommend? And what are some other methods to boost collagen production?

Studying to be a Dermal Clinician

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to ask but I want to study to become a Dermal Clinician. I was thinking of starting my study at Elly Lukus and doing my Diploma of Beauty Therapy. I have heard they are a good school to start as it is easy to transition and begin study to become a dermal therapist after completing my diploma. Has anyone been there and have any experiences or any recommendations of where else to start? Thanks!

Recommend me an LED mask!

I see a lot of recommendations online for masks that might not be easily available in Australia - can anyone recommend me a locally available mask?

From what little research I’ve done, the higher end masks are much more effective than the more budget options?

TIA!

Edited to add- thanks so much everyone! Really helpful and very appreciated

New CC Sunscreen needs more attention

I've been on a Zinc (Ultraviolette) sunscreen binge to even out my complexion so that I'm wearing less makeup. Gives that slightly blurred complexion and my under eye concealer wears better. Decided to economise and try the CC Kids zinc and picked one up.

As you can see, I purchased the wrong one 🤦 Got the OTHER kids chemical sunscreen.

BUT, it's been a happy little accident 🎨 Dries down after 15 minutes. Feels more like a moisturiser and no plasticky, sunscreen film feeling. Softens the skin with oatmeal. Calms my rosacea with aloe and chamomile. Doesn't irritate my eyes or flare up the fungal acne on my forehead. I've been so impressed that I no longer use moisturizer in the morning. That'll save me money!

Product recommendations for summer

Hi! What do you use to prevent breaking out in the Australian summer or what changes do you make in your skin care routine? I am currently not using moisturizers (only sunscreen) and double cleansing at night but still get break outs.

Bar soap recommendations

Hey everyone, I’m looking for bar soap recommendations. I’ve tried the Woolies and Coles ones, plus QV and Dermaveen, but they all make my skin dry and itchy. I’d rather avoid liquid soap since the plastic waste adds up, even with refills. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

best place to buy tret without a script?

I know a lot of people in this sub and others buy from ADC (all day chemist) but I find them a bit sketchy especially with the handful of stories of ppls stuff getting seized and the creepy emails/phonecalls..

do people here still vouch for adc or are there better alternatives?

Best product before swimming?

Going to start swimming again soon and am wondering what's the best product to put on beforehand as I don't want the chlorine to affect my skin too much.

I have very oily skin all over my face and am acne prone, but am super super dry around my mouth.

St Ives apricot scrub

What’s with the hate for St Ives apricot scrub?

I came across a post about things you believed not that proved to be a con or something like that. They were rabidly hating on this product but no one said why.

I obviously missed something because I’ve I heard good things especially for my very oily skin. I’ve used it once a week for 20 years and my skin is good. And I like that it doesn’t contain micro plastic beads.

Exfoliator for ingrowns down there

Hi all! Hope youre having a lovely day!

I'm really needing some recommendations for exfoliators for ingrowns down there. I've been having Brazillian waxes done down there and sometimes I get really bad ingrowns. I was wondering if there's a somewhat reasonably priced exfoliator that could work that's not too harsh of course but gets the job done still. I've been trying to find some but I haven't been able to find any good ones.

Thank you so much I really really appreciate it!! :)

[Product Review] - Cancer Council Radiance Boost SPF50+

I recently finished a tube of the Radiance Boost SPF50+ and wanted to share my thoughts, as I saw the Hydration Boost SPF50+ talked about a while ago which seems to be from the same line up. For background, I have normal/combination skin with acne worst along my jawline. I bought this from Chemist Warehouse for a discounted price of $21.99.

Cancer Council seem to be marketing this more as a "premium" cosmetic product than a sunscreen as such, in a more sophisticated orange pump (similar to the Ultra Violette tubes). When I contacted them about this sunscreen and their marketing choices (see my main "con", below...) they stated that it is a secondary sunscreen with a "primary purpose other than sun protection" and that it is "formulated with innovative skincare ingredients that provide multitasking benefits to protect, prime and moisturise." This did confuse me as it is listed as a medicine with the TGA as are their other sunscreens, and I do trust it to be an effective SPF50+ with a combination of filters including homosalate, octocrylene, avobenzone, ethylhexyl triazone, tinosorb M and tinosorb S.

Pros

  • Beautiful texture - a mid-weight lotion that dries down to a slightly glowy finish (not greasy or shiny, even during the high humidity days we've been having lately).
  • Has a priming effect for use with makeup, but is also lovely by itself.
  • Contains skin-brightening ingredients (niacinamide and licorice root extract).
  • No eye sting! This is the first Cancer Council sunscreen I have been able to use around my eyes and on my eyelids without eye sting. This was the case even when I was sweating, so I'm hopeful that other people who have this issue might find it works for them, too.
  • Non-irritating for my sensitive skin. I have been using tret 0.1% long-term, but recently added azelaic acid 15% and my skin has been sensitized, especially my neck. I haven't had any irritation from this sunscreen.
  • No white cast for me (I am pale though so not a good judge).

Cons

  • I prefer not to use a moisturiser in the mornings and just use a moisturising sunscreen, and I felt that this sunscreen was barely hydrating enough for me to use alone during summer, and wouldn't be hydrating enough to use alone during the winter months.
  • This is the big one... The price. Omg! The RRP for this sunscreen is $36.95 for 50 mL! The packaging states to use 1 tsp per application to face/neck/ears... so you are paying ~$3.70 PER application, and even if you never reapply during the day, you're paying almost $40 for just 10 days of daily use. Compare that to their Daily Moisturiser Matte SPF50+ facial sunscreen which is advertised at 150 mL for $23.95, or $0.80 per application.

Overall, yes I would recommend this sunscreen - it is such a beautiful, elegant formula providing excellent broad spectrum coverage - but the price of this product and size of the tube really rubs me the wrong way. The Radiance Boost price per mL is slightly higher at full price when compared to other premium sunscreens such as Ultra Violette. Maybe it's unfair of me but I do hold a not for profit charity like Cancer Council to a different standard, and I feel that the cost per application really encourages people to use much less than the stated application amount, increasing the risk of sun damage. I would not recommend buying the product for the full RRP.

Interested to hear anyone else's thoughts on this sunscreen!

Hyperpigmentation and the pill

Has anyone ever developed pigmentation and hyperpigmentation after beginning the pill? I started taking Diane 35ED for acne I was getting from my new Crohn’s medication and now I have all this pigmentation all over my skin that I’ve never had in my life. I was going through a lot at the time with my health and don’t know what’s caused it and I’m trying to narrow down the suspects! I can’t find anything online so I thought I would ask here.

Best way to protect face from sunburn when swimming?

I'm currently at my wits end because every time this season, without fail, my face has ended up sunburnt after swimming despite how generous I am with sunscreen re/application and keeping my time in the sun to a minimum. I can't wear a hat when my face is in the water so I am at a loss on what I'm supposed to do?

Is there a way to cover your face while swimming or a sunscreen that guarantees the strongest protection for your face?
