I usually get laser of some sort in autumn-to-early-spring... (usually BBL) but then the Australian UV kicks in, and it's time to put down the lasers for another year! 😭
By autumn-winter of the following year, my skin looks comparatively dull and sad, and it's a huge relief when the weather turns and I can get another laser treatment done so my skin goes to a level that makes me happier. I'd love to somehow skip the comparative 'aesthetic downtime' over the summer, just not sure how to go about it.
Thought I'd ask what other people (who usually get some kind of annual treatment) do during the higher UV months - microneedling? Hydrofacials? Biostim injections? Facial massage? Additional serums? Or just preserve your skin quality as much as possible with your normal products and sunscreen/sun avoidance?
If you have any kind of 'summer treatments' done that you recommend, please list below + add your skin type/concerns/location, in case other people are interested! :)
Recently I came across a reel that talked about using Dettol Antiseptic liquid in the bath. In the comments a lot of people were taking about how great it is for keeping clean, and they grew up with it and still use it in the bath. And how amazingly clean they felt afterwards.
It was not something we used in the bath as kids, so my only memory of it is being used to dab on cuts (it always stung!). Did anyone use it as a kid? Do you still use it? Would you recommend it?
They all have such STRONG nice and complex scents that I haven’t found anything to compare to. But wanting to see if anyone’s found a cheaper alternative out there so I’m not spending an absurd amount on hand wash!
I adore the magical blend of citrus, native ingredients, random woods and herbs that all these expensive hand washes seem to whip up. So assuming that’s why they’re so expensive.
I don’t find that Thankyou hits the spot enough. Curious about the new Ovidio range at CW though, if anyone has tried it.
Hi folks,
I believe my current hair wax (Fudge Matt Head) is reacting with the back of my ears (sensitive skin, eczema).
Is anyone aware of hair wax designed for sensitive skin/scalps, preferably fragrance free?
Guyss, the skinceutical ce ferulic serum is the best serum I’ve ever used!!! I was lucky to inherit it and just don’t think I can pay the price… Has anyone found any good substitutes or dupes?
Has anyone successfully minimised large pores? I’ve read that there’s nothing you can do about it despite many products claiming to help, I would love to hear some firsthand experiences

Thanks to my 3 pregnancies, I have more chin hair than ever before. I’ve always broken out a bit when I’ve had facial hair waxed or threaded, and still now that I use one of those stainless steel coil thingies.
What’s the best thing to put on after using the coil thing to avoid breakouts? I’ve been using witch hazel because I thought the alcohol might sterilise it somewhat but I still get little pimples. Should I/should I not use AHAs/BHAs for the next day or two?
Message to mods (can be skipped by everyone else), I understand this post isn't necessarily applicable to everyone but Sikhs make up 0.8% of Australia's population and at least like a quarter of them wear turbans. Perhaps this post could bring interesting solutions for Sikhs trying to get into skincare.
Hello everyone, I have a question about skincare for us who wear turbans. I understand that touching your face isn't ideal when taking skincare seriously, but many turban styles cover parts of the forehead and ears and are worn all day. Since the turban is a long cloth wrapped around the head, could this constant contact with the forehead be similar to touching your face? Additionally, I’ve noticed that turban wearers often place their turbans on a desk or other surface after untying it, then reuse it the next day without washing (some do tie a new one everyday). Would this case be similar to having a new a pillowcase or towel daily, which ideally should stay clean to avoid transferring dirt to the face? Should we be wearing a fresh turban each day, or at least ensure it’s placed on a very clean surface between uses? I’m not sure if this level of care is necessary, but I wonder if particles from the cloth could affect skin health.
If this helps with any responses, common fabrics used for turbans are Muslin ("Mal Mal" in Punjabi, its a fine cotton fabric) and Full Voile (lightweight sheer cotton).
What do people do with their non-empties? I am trying to figure out if there’s an ethical way to get rid of products that have caused me to breakout (but I know from online reviews work perfectly for other people). I’m in Canberra and the products are the HaruHaru Wonder 5 Peptide Concentrate Cream, and the Numbuzin No 1 Cream. Appreciate any ideas/advice 😇
I recently asked Dermal Therapy for a sample and they were nice enough to send me one :)
So here’s my quick review of the product:
The texture looks odd at first, almost gritty looking, but once you actually apply it to the skin, it’s smooth and spreads easily. It feels light and non-greasy, not heavy like some other moisturisers I’ve tried that just sits on top of the skin—it really absorbs nicely. My face feels hydrated without any dry spots. However, there is a slight smell that I wouldn’t exactly describe as pleasant, but it doesn’t really linger so it’s not really a deal breaker. One thing I really love about it is that it doesn’t cause any breakouts for me. So if you’re looking for a simple no nonsense face moisturiser you should give this product a go. I will definitely be purchasing a full-size next time.
I also want to note that it’s fragrance free, so good for people sensitive to fragrance.
Was trawling their gift section for Xmas ideas and noticed they do some cute looking makeup and bath products. How do they stack up?
They’re popping up all over my timeline on FB - has any used these - what were your thoughts. Thank you
Posted in the eczema subreddit too, although I thought to post here as this is an Australian product. Sorry if this does not align with this subreddit.
Got recommended this brand today for my eczema. All the reviews on the website give it 5 stars at least and swear by it.
Has anyone had experiences with this brand? It seems a bit like a ‘we promise to cure your eczema as long as you keep buying our product’ sort of gimmick but I’d love to hear some honest reviews that aren’t from their website.
I saw a similar post in a beauty page, so keen to ask the question and see the answers here!
What skincare product/s is a must-have for you? A product that you always repurchase and swear by.
Maybe it’s something new and you know you’ll rebuy, a product you’ve used for years!! Etc.
I’ll start it off: Skinstitut Gentle cleanser - have been using it for the last 8 years and haven’t looked back. I can’t ever imagine using anything else.
I had screenshot this BeautyAmora ad a few weeks ago and the code is still valid despite the date range (I made an order 10 minutes ago) ! This is better than any of the current codes they are promoting for Black Friday. I use both products in my routine and am running low so it is a win-win. I have purchased from BeautyAmora before and despite all my products being in stock in the Australian warehouse supposedly, it does take them a while to ship (4-5 business days). Everything does end up arriving within 2 weeks of order date, well packaged and legitimate.
I ended up getting:
Thought I'd share with the sub in case anyone was looking to make a purchase soon.
We've come to 30 degree heat days now and every office is blasting their air conditioning. I sit directly under the vent and the wind is constantly blowing in my face making it super dry and cracked (dry and sensitive skin)
What is everyone's go-to deep hydration moisturisers to combat the office cold/aircon wind?
Kenesiology tape is just to sticky for my face, I'm looking for one suitable for sensitive/face skin (to use overnight) Thanks!
My boss loves to have a bath. In fact they do a lot of reviewing of work docs etc in the bath (total TMI that they told us that). They are leaving and I wanted to get a present for them. I’m a practical gift giver, so I thought hamper of bath products would be best. Other than a monogrammed towel, and the L’occitane almond shower oil, does any one have any more recommendations for bougie bath products?
In australia there's a lack of face moisturisers with spf in them bc they aren't as effective as regular sunscreen, however I've seen this recently, does it work well guys? Does it sting your eyes?
Hi there and welcome to the Best Of/ Holy Grail product thread for Sunscreen
This thread is the beginning to a [hopefully] complete update to the sidebar!

I have mix type of skin, very sensitive and with rosacea. I got few samples from QV and I loved this one and just found it on sale 😊
Hello, I've been wanting to try Medik8 retinal so when I saw the free gift with purchase, I went ahead and bought it. These are all the stuff I got. I got 4 items: a retinal and toner from medik8 and 2 cleansers from Innisfree and got 12 pieces of samples in return. I love free stuff 😊
I have a love/hate relationship with sheet masks. I love how deeply moisturised and gloriously supple my face feels after using them but I cannot stand the resulting stickiness!!!
Does anyone have any affordable - $30 or under - alternatives for non-sheet face masks that have the same deep moisturising benefits without the stickiness?
I love the hamilton everyday face but not a fan of the 200ml pump style packaging. I imagine there is a ton stuck to the sides in there. Do you guys cut it open when you can't pump out any more?
