Hydrating foundation recommendations

I've been using the Nars Sheer Glow foundation for about 3 months now daily in the office. By the end of the day it's so flakey and dry. I'm priming and using moisturiser and it looks so good when I leave in the morning but just terrible at the end of the day. It's so disappointing because it's such a perfect colour match.

I used the bourjois healthy mix serum for so long until it was discontinued. In my foundation journey, I've used the ordinary serum foundation that was also discontinued. Tried the revlon serum foundation but none of the colours were quite right for me.

Eyeing off the ABH beauty balm but I'm looking for recommendations. Something light to medium coverage so I don't look dead in the office.

Loose mineral powder recs

Basically the title, I’ve been using Lust Minerals for a couple of years which I love but the price is not ideal for more regular use.

I’ve gotten away with stretching it out the past couple of years because I work from home full time and have only worn makeup 2-3 times a month but I’ll be working in the office a lot more in the future and I’m not going to be able to purchase from Lust consistently again until my husband is back at work too.

So yeah, any affordable/budget friendly loose foundation powders I’m all ears! I don’t typically use it by itself, more as a light setting powder that gives that little bit of extra coverage vs a normal setting powder.

Maybelline mineral powder is gone.

Please Maybelline bring back your mineral powder! I can only get it from overseas at an insane price and it's the only makeup I'm not allergic too. I hope you guys consider bringing it back 🤞🏼🙏🏼

Vanity table for bad eyesight

I have bad vision (-5) and I need to stand right up against the mirror to do my makeup. I’ve always done makeup in front of a built in wardrobe mirror. I’m moving to a place that does not have this option. The mirror in the bathroom is too far away from the sink to be functional and all the vanity tables are 30cms-60cms which I think is too far away for me to lean forward (back issues). Surely I’m not the only one struggling. I’m curious to know what everyone else does. Or if anyone has suggestions!

MCoBeauty Hydrate and Glow

I noticed that the shape of the bottle of this product has changed from the teardrop shaped ripoff of Glow Recipe to a more generic shaped bottle. Anyone know if they got sued? I love to see it.

Body Moisturiser Recs

May I please have everyone’s body moisturiser recommendations? Preferably low/no fragrance so as not to clash with my perfumes. Ideally it absorbs in a flash too because who has time to wait for that!

Am I asking too much? I feel like I’ve tried a fair few and they just aren’t hydrating enough.

Thank you so much

My $2.90 Adore Beauty Haul 😍 (You read that right!)

Purchased the Dear Klairs cream & Panteno lip balm. The Klairs trial set was a GWP for spending $40+ on Dear Klairs. Tim tam, of course🤎! And the Hello Fresh was the free sample, not a fan, but I can’t complain.

Now to the math! Total cost = $47.90, but I had a $35 gift voucher I received from my last AB shop (spent $300 and got the $35 voucher) and a $10 birthday voucher, bringing the total down to $2.90! Very pleased 😍

Hair bows - still a thing or am I too late?!

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I wanted to get Australian/NZ perspective. I have gotten really into the hair bow look as of late but feel like I have jumped on the fashion trend like a year too late. I normally don’t care too much about being on trend and wear what I like but don’t want to look silly. Is the trend over or can I still get away with the look?

Run don’t walk! Water activated liners at Sportsgirl 👀

Sportsgirl have upped their game significantly since the days when I was a teenager (although their bronzer was always a hot commodity in the 2010s lol)

I’m SO EXCITED to try this after eying off the Glisten Cosmetics ones on Glam Raider for months ($13.50 for two colours in one pot as opposed to 18 colours for $40 with 30% off currently…)

What is a small Australian make up brand that you think we should know about?

After reading comments that a certain well known brand sometimes dupes some smaller Australian brands (as well as the yuge brands) , I wanted to make a post to try and share the love for some smaller/indie brands.

What is your “I love this Aussie make up brand and want more people to know about them”?

Lush Body Sprays

Hi! Summer is fast approaching and I have been in search of body sprays. I went to Lush and there was one I found I really liked, 'The Comforter,' which to me smells like gummies and fresh blackcurrant juice. However, I've seen and heard many remarks that this smells like cat pee. I know not everything can be trusted, but I wouldn't want to walk around smelling like cat pee. I would love to hear any thoughts on this lush body spray, or any in particular!

How to find a good cosmetician in Sydney

I'm quite a newbie when it comes to looking after my skin and I was wondering how to find a good cosmetician in Sydney?

I'm interested in asking about (1) laser hair removal (2) use of glycolic / other acids to prevent leg ingrowns and general care to prevent leg ingrowns (3) facial skin care stuff

I feel like this is not a serious enough concern to ask a dermatologist about (they're busy with people with skin cancer etc) so I should find a ?cosmetician?

Thanks :)

Need new stylist in Sydney!

Hey beauty beauties!

Looking for recommendations for a hair stylist that does great work on blondes, Sydney area and its surrounds.

I'm a blonde curly girl, been out of the salon for almost a year due to finances and the occasional menty B, ready to get this mess sorted out.

Photo of my favourite colouring as an example of the blonde I want to get back to.

Big love x

Blow out brush

I have short just above shoulder hair that’s thick, wavy, frizzy 😂😭 Looking for something quick and easy to use I’d prefer not to spend a lot on the Dyson… Is the Bondi boost worth it?

Advice on nail care products- strengthening and gel polished brands that work

Hey guys, I have quite weak nails. I'm an artist/crafter and especially with wire work but lots of mediums they get extra damaged. I'm looking for 2 things- a repairitive serum/oil/elixir to give them some strength and make them a bit healthier. Secondly a uv set gel polish. I bought the kmart one and loved how quickly it set (I have trouble sitting with my hands still for like 10 mins while other polishes dry and seem to always ruin them in that time (adhd brain)) and loved the strength and protectiveness it gave them allowing me to do wire work without damaging them or the polish, but it peeled off after about 2 days and I've definitely seen ads saying other brands last weeks. Money is tight for me so definitely want something that's good value for money, not something with shipping from America or similar adding like $40 to the cost. Realistically I just don't have hundreds to spend on top of the range products, but I'm sick of wasting money and time on cheap products like the kmart one to find it comes off within a couple of days or similar issues.

Anti-dandruff other than head and shoulders

Hey so I've had dandruff my whole life. Head and shoulders does work well for it when I wash with it, especially more regularly- and as it says on the instructions it is meant for daily use. However my hair doesn't like being washed daily and I have autism and mental health conditions that mean I find it near impossible to wash my hair daily (sensory issues with wet hair for one) so I'd like to find a dandruff treatment that isn't designed for daily hair washing. I dunno if there's something I can apply to my scalp on the days between hair wash days or all products need to be washed out and so I need a shampoo that's not a daily one. Advice appreciated!!!

I got the Naked Sundays Mystery Box

So I ordered one of the Naked Sundays Mystery boxes (the $150 Illuminating Holiday Mystery Box) and I haven't seen many posts about them so I thought I would share what I got in mine (and what I think).

The box came with:

*75ml hydrating glow mist

*30ml water gel serum

*80ml collagen glow 100% mineral sunscreen

*100ml golded glow body sunscreen

*40ml cabana glow mineral glow serum drops in illuminating

*40ml cabana glow mineral glow serum drops in bronze

*4.5ml glow and go lip oil in salted caramel

*Their SPF brush

*A clear ready set glow cosmetics bag

I am not normally one for mystery boxes, in general I just buy the things I actually want. I feel like normally you just end up getting stuff you didn't want. I bought this because I am a pale ginger living in Australia so I use a lot of SPF and I have liked every product I've ever tried from Naked Sundays before now. I figure because all their stuff is SPF I would likely get use out of it, and I wanted to try more of their stuff.

Personally I'm really happy with this. The glow mist is one of my favourite products of all time, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that in there. All in all, I think the only item I might not use is the bronze SPF drops, just because their bronze colour is quite dark and I think it's just going to be too dark for me. I'm very keen to try the lip oil, I was curious about these because they are SPF 50.

Overall pretty happy with my purchase but keen to hear what anyone else thinks and/or if anyone else bought one of these - what did you get?

Mascara recommendations

I hate wearing eye make up but am fair-haired so need it. I regularly tint lashes/brows but would like to find a mascara for a little more ooomph, without it being too thick/gluggy/un-natural. Also one that won't leave me with smudges under eyes.

Any suggested products? Preferably $15 - $40 bracket.

Thanks

Mecca named Australia's #1 brand for Customer Experience

https://www.mediaweek.com.au/retail-brands-dominate-2024-cx-rankings-with-mecca-and-specsavers-on-top-kpmg-report/

Mecca has claimed the top spot in KPMG Australia's Customer Experience Excellence report this year, followed closely by Specsavers and ING.

I'm curious, how does your experience with Mecca tally with this?
