Even though it would easily be the worst FBS league and the smallest, what if the Atlantic 10 were to start sponsoring a Northeast-based football league? Would be similar to the old A-10 football conference and the current Missouri Valley Football Conference in that league membership would differ from other sports.
Initial membership could look like this…
Army
Buffalo
Delaware
Navy
Temple
UConn
UMass
Villanova
Boston College and possibly Syracuse could join once the ACC implodes, and they’d rejoin the Big East for all other sports. Temple and UMass would obviously rejoin the A-10 as full members, and Buffalo could join as a full member as well considering the MAC probably would want all or nothing. They have some basketball success and would make for a good travel partner for SBU. Nova, UConn, Delaware, and the service academies would stay in the Big East, CAA, and Patriot League for other sports. The current A-10 schools that sponsor FCS football would stay in FCS.
I know there’s no way the service academies would go for this (I really just put them in there to get the conference up to 8 teams), but think about all the chaos this would save for the basketball teams and non-revenue sports… as they wouldn’t have to travel across the country every other week. And it’s not like the football competition here would be THAT much worse than the MAC or C-USA…
I know this sub is pretty dead but I think it could be cool to see something like the image in this link https://a10.event1teamstore.com/ (when u scroll down a bit on the website) or something like this link https://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/493565692014/Atlantic_10_Conference/2014/Secondary_Logo (for the circle part) to add to the subreddit.
