Help with hooks

Hello! I have a unique little backstory and i was going to use it for my main common app topic. I currently have two opening sentences, and i do not know which one i would choose. If anyone could dm me, I'd love to share and get ur input!

Also please do not be too kind when reviewing. If you think both are trash, I would much prefer that then submitting a trash essay.

Writing a narrative essay

Hi Everyone đź‘‹ I am writing a narrative essay about what I have learned from the relationship between plants and humans. This story is based on my own experience with my aunt and her plants in her garden. When I was a kid, I yanked up her plants and flowers once in her garden and she yelled at me furiously. I didn't understand why she was so mad at me at that time but I get her now. She believes that her plants are as equally important as her life and other people's. Her plants are just people to her.

So, how should I begin writing an introduction for my narrative essay about that? Freely suggest your ideas and thoughts to me. Thank you guys. 🍀

I'm trying to write a college application essay for a Technical Institute for a Dual Degree (5 year program, Bachelor's and MS by research) in Computer Science preferably, or Electrical

I'm applying for bachelor's in a private university specialising in Computer Science and Electrical engineering, as an undergraduate. I'm required to write an essay on why I'm picking a 5 year Dual Degree over a traditional 4 year graduation program, I'm required to show how I'm willing to contribute to research. Another essay on a person who's inspired me to pursue a career in so and so field, I'm asking as to what should be some of the points i should include in my application essay.

Can college essay not be a "essay"

** common app/ college application essay**

I have been watching some vids related to it and i see people using different styles

Like just dialogues

Poems and such

Is it alright for us to use any style we want? Or were those of something completely different

Need Help with College App Essays – Stuck in ADHD Paralysis!

Hey everyone,
So, I’m kinda in a pickle here. I’ve got ADHD, and it’s really throwing a wrench in my plans to tackle my college application essays. Like, seriously, I’m stuck in this ADHD paralysis loop, and I can’t seem to break free.
I know these essays are super important, but every time I try to start, my brain just goes, “Nope, not today!” It’s frustrating as heck, let me tell you.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone here can lend a hand. Whether it’s editing, reviewing, or just offering some words of encouragement, I could really use the support right now. Maybe you’ve been in a similar situation or know someone who has – any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m determined to push through this and give it my best shot, but I could definitely use a little help from my fellow Redditors. So, if you’ve got a spare moment and a kind heart, please consider lending a hand.
Thanks a million for taking the time to read this. You’re all awesome!

How To Write A Nursing Essay

This post aims to share personal life experiences as a college student related to the medical sphere. It was challenging for me to write a nursing essay though my studying years. Nevertheless, writing a nursing essay is an opportunity to showcase your understanding of nursing concepts and your ability to apply them in real-world settings.
Analyze the Question
Start by deciphering the essay question to ensure your response is targeted and relevant. Understand key terms and what the question is asking you to do.
Research and Evidence
Gather information from credible sources like nursing journals and official healthcare publications. This will form the backbone of your argument, providing solid evidence to support your points.
Structure Your Essay
Organize your essay with an introduction that outlines your thesis, body paragraphs that detail your argument supported by evidence, and a conclusion that summarizes your findings and reflects on their broader implications for nursing practice.
By following these steps, you can craft a comprehensive and insightful nursing essay that demonstrates your academic and practical knowledge of nursing.

Princeton graded paper 2.0

Huh, i come from a spanish speaker school, so the only course i have some "expository essays" (although it really is more creative essay), but i didnt do well on the course since i had some problems with english, and the teacher hated me. Now im taking university credit courses in a online canadian school, those courses are about physics, and chem. I have been doing essays as a homework for that virtual school. So, can i send that graded paper from one of those courses im taking?

Note: i was planning to write an essay about something related to science and make a teacher grade it, but the only one from the teachers of my year that knows english is exaclty that english teacher that dislikes me :)))

Conquer Test Anxiety: 10 Proven Techniques for Exam Triumph

Feeling butterflies in your stomach and a fog in your brain every time there's a test looming? You're not alone! Test anxiety is a real struggle for many students. But fear not! Whether you’re facing a pop quiz, midterm, or final exam, there are effective strategies to calm those nerves and perform at your best. There are numerous relaxation techniques you can employ to tame the anxiety beast and emerge victorious in your exams. Here are 10 proven methods to beat the test anxiety monster and pave your way to success:

Breathing is Believing:

The Power of the Pause: Before diving into the exam, take a few deep breaths. Inhale slowly for a count of four, hold for four seconds, and exhale slowly for a count of eight. Repeat until you feel your heart rate slow and anxiety ease.

Box Breathing: Imagine a box in front of you. Breathe in slowly as you visualize drawing the bottom line of the box. Hold your breath for a count of four as you imagine the right side of the box. Exhale slowly as you draw the top line. Hold for four again as you visualize the left side, and repeat.

Mind Over Matter:

Positive Affirmations: Ditch the negative self-talk! Repeat calming mantras like "I am prepared," "I can do this," or "I am calm and focused." Positive affirmations can reprogram your brain to believe in your ability to succeed.

Visualization is Key: Close your eyes and visualize yourself entering the exam feeling calm and confident. Imagine yourself answering questions clearly and feeling a sense of accomplishment after finishing the test. Visualization can prime your mind for success.

Challenge Negative Thoughts: Test anxiety often stems from exaggerated fears. When a negative thought pops up, challenge it with logic. For example, if you think "I'm going to blank out," counter it with "I have studied, and I can recall the information."

The Relaxation Response:

Progressive Muscle Relaxation: Tense and release different muscle groups in your body, starting with your toes and working your way up. Focus on the feeling of tension leaving your body with each exhale.

Guided Meditation: There are many free guided meditations available online or in apps. These can help quiet your mind, focus your attention, and promote relaxation. Even a few minutes of meditation can make a big difference.

Mindfulness Moments: Focus on the present moment by observing your surroundings and acknowledging your physical sensations. This can help break the cycle of anxious thoughts and bring you back to a calm state.

Bonus Techniques:

Fidget for Focus: If fidgeting helps you focus, use a stress ball or clicker pen. Just be mindful of not disturbing others during the exam.

Calming Scents: Certain scents like lavender or chamomile are known for their calming properties. Dab some essential oil on your wrist or use a calming aromatherapy diffuser (check school policies first).

Let's Share the Calm!

Remember, it's essential to find the relaxation techniques that work best for you. Experiment with different methods and incorporate them into your daily routine to build resilience against test anxiety. Additionally, don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or a counselor if you're struggling to manage your anxiety.

And if the pressure of assignments adds to your stress, know that help is available. Extracurricular boost

So I attended the Harvard Crimson Essay this year because one of my friends got a huge boost her profile for ivy leagues because of it last year (she got into Yale this year). Nowadays a new trend has started wherein students with internship experience or research experience are given preference. In April a research comp is being organized by Crimson (a major partner of Harvard). The prizes for this competition are money (a lot of it) and 2 university credits. SARC is a research competition where you can propose to study any topic of their choice, and all you need is a 2 page research proposal. This year, winners will get a research opportunity and college credits from UC Santa Barbara. Oh and you'll get an annnoying lot of bootcamps for preparation.

Anyways if anyone wants to give it a try you can reach out to me, or vist https://www.researchcomp.org/ to apply, by using the promo code AMB613 you'll be able to get a $5 discount and only pay $10.

Can someone review my essay and give me feedback please. (grammar too)

Prompt: Please describe your experience at [institution name] so far. What challenges have you faced? What have you learned about yourself since your first semester?

My answer:

My experience at [institution] began in the fall of 2022, marking a transition into independence, granting me freedom to shape my lifestyle and academic pursuits, free from familial influences. My first semester was a period of discovery, I set my own schedule and academic priorities. Recognizing the academic rigor meant success relied solely on my efforts. This was empowering yet frightening, as it implied increased discipline and motivation. I created a healthy social life by finding a sense of community with my peers. However, the start of my spring semester was a turning point in my personal and academic life. An incident triggered a downward spiral in my mental health, which impacted my academic life. Learning was no longer a priority, and I turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms. This culminated in being placed on Scholastic Probation. That summer, I found the space and time to confront these issues to start healing. Returning to campus for my second year, I was determined to set myself back on track. Participating in the [institution program] provided me with the accountability to stay focused on my goals. This semester, decisions were made to retake courses that had grades that did not reflect my full potential. Throughout this journey, I have discovered a version of myself without external influences. Using this newfound clarity and the knowledge that success is not linear, I am prepared to face future challenges. My experience is one of self-discovery, learning, and growth.

Side note: there is a 1500 character limit including spaced

Essay talks about mental health?

I’m a junior in high school and I’m just now starting to think into college and now my essay. I have a college counselor at my school and we recently discussed my grades throughout the past 3 years. My freshman and sophomore year I had all As and few Bs until 2 semester where I hit a wave of depression for about a year. Grades dropped from mostly all As to mostly Ds and Cs. I haven’t really discussed why exactly to my counselor since I’m not really comfortable with that. But I don’t really have anything else to write about in my essay, around that same time I dropped most of my hobbies and all of my clubs i participated in in school. My grades have bounced back since then in 2nd semester of junior year I’m back to As and more Bs. Would it be acceptable to write about my experience with mental health and how it affected my grades and life etc. in my essay? Should I explain it to my college counselor? Any advise appreciated Thanks

Essay Appeal

Hi there, I have a family member that would like to appeal to UT Austin but with a different major from what they originally chose. They're not too sure how to approach the essay and would really benefit from some sort of counseling and essay editing. They're willing to spend some money on this as UT Austin is a top choice for them and they want to give it their best. We don't have anyone in the family who's gone through this process so feeling pretty lost, even with some Google searches.

If anyone knows anything about the appeal process, what's expected, and if there's any reasonably priced resources to help with this, would greatly appreciate it!

Any other advice regarding this would also be great!

Choose your own prompt questions?

I'm doing the questbridge essays and I'm not sure what to put for this.

Should I be honest and give the prompt that would be able to tell my story the best? For example: Do you think gpa is a good measure of academic achievement? Where I would explain my "difficult living situation" in detail.

Should I do something more interesting that shows off my character and personality? Maybe a poem or a narrative story.

Maybe something open ended like "Why did the Chicken cross the road" which could potentially be an allegory for some societal issue or something.

I feel like I might be overthinking this, however, the only way that I go to college is if a large portion of it is payed for.

Confusing paper requirements

So I have to create an analysis based on a specific industy. I am writing about the video game industry so a lot of information much be used. In the instructions it does not say whether my reference page would be included in the paper number requirement. All it says is “Ten Pages Maximum, typed and double spaced. Page Max does not include appendices.”

What does appendices mean? Will my reference pages be counted towards the page requirement?

I am scared of asking the professor because he tends to respond rudely to my dumb questions. Like I need help sir, English is not my first language.
