Brand new to the AR10 and looking to buy my first one. I would like one that doesn’t weigh a ton or is too long, mainly will be used for hog and deer hunting. I have an 18” 5.56 it’s a great gun, fun, and accurate but don’t like length and want something that can shoot further and more stopping power. I’m looking at the PSA Sabre 10A1 14.5” 6.5CM and the Ruger SFAR 16” 308. Ballistically how do these compare under 500 yards, I probably won’t do any shooting further than that with this gun.
I'm kind of new to ar-10's, so I hope this isn't a dumb question. I'm getting an aero M5 upper and I was wondering if a trybe defense bcg would work in it. If not, any recommendations for others?
This was one of the last guns I built in Gunsmithing college Custom Barrel, lathed from a 30cal Bartlein Barrel blank and a JP Ent. extension and chambered in .308 Winchester. I cut the gas journal for a rifle +1” gas tube length. overall barrel length of 20”. We learned how to true everything up including the upper receiver, barrel extension, BCG, gas key fitment, all in an attempt to squeeze every bit of accuracy possible out of it.
The lower is a WolfMountainArms WM-10 lower with CMC 2.5lb trigger and a basic magpul grip and B5 stock. Vortex 3-15 scope. Upper, Handguard and BCG are AERO M5. HuxWrx Flow7.62 suppressor. Cerakoted the barrel black and the rest red tiger stripes.
What do you guys think? First ar 10, should I build my own instead? After their discounts the total comes out to $1750.
Building my first ar10. I got an aero complete lower and wanted to pair it with a aero lower. Does anyone know the compatibility between these two?
I would just buy a matching slr set but my state just passed a new AWB and I'm stuck with my aero lower.

I was looking at getting an LPVO for an AR10, what are y'alls best recommendations? $500 range is ideal, but anything $750 or lower is up for consideration. Thanks in advance!
Long time project finally got finished. The goal was to build a hammer of a SASS type system. Build is as follows.
Upper:
Lower:
i was wondering where should i start. im ok with getting a ptr base rifle and a magpul or the B5 stock. but i'd like the look and barrel length of a psg1. PTR's will be new to me. im used to ARs but hoping with everyones help i can get a childhood favorite weapon :). i also know on the build services like Blackopsdefence but they are having issues with getting kits.
Or should i just build a AR10?
i plan on doing 1000 meter shooting and suppressed.
Thank you
Yes I have a BCA for straight hunting purposes and it got the job done tonight. She stomped at me so I had to drop her. While I was tracking her blood trail she spotted me maybe 10 yards away from her and took off in a quick short dart before giving me a chance for a follow up. The second shot pretty much ended it for her there.
Looking at her it seems the 1st shot was in the sweet spot and the second shot was unfortunately a gut shot (yes I know I’m dumb should’ve waited longer).
At the end of the day I’m grateful to harvest such an awesome delicious creature
Tripod arrived. Happy happy.
Anyone else have any problems? I usually don’t have trouble squeezing in but it’s hard to shove in and won’t slide out. I’m gonna file down the sides and try it but curious if they’re just shit mags?
I am starting to look more and more into the AR10 realm and wonder if Daniel Defense is as reputable here as they are in the AR15 arena. I love my DDM4V7 and just wonder if the quality and performance is the same.
Thanks in advance.
I have a Larue AR10 lower from the sale last year and never got around to getting an upper. I’m aware of the slant vs DPMS formats of receivers, but I know there is some ambiguity even within those options.
I was hoping to pick up a Larue on sale, but they never seem to come below $1750 for the complete upper. I don’t shoot enough .308 to justify that spend.
I’ve read the Stag 10s uppers fit, but are there any other?
PSA billets? Build your own with a Stag 10 stripped upper?
I have a tubbs flatwire spring with a kak heavy buffer for ar10. Would I be safe running a non adjustable gas block? It should accept heavier ammo if I'm correct right?
Of all the .308 battle rifles out there, AR-10 based designs seem to be some of the lighter options. Well, sometimes. Some of the options out there like the LMT MARS H and ADM UIC10 are fantastic rifles, but damn near 10 pounds empty. No thank you. I'm aware that the POF Revolution exists (should I go with piston or DI?), but they're somewhat expensive. The Sig Tread 716i, DDM5, and Aero Precision M5 rifles aren't *horribly* heavy, but still moreso than I'd prefer. Just today I found out about the existence of the Steyr 762 DMR which looks fantastic, but that thing isn't even hitting the European civilian market until at least the second half of 2025, and it'll probably be horrifically expensive when it gets to the U.S. I've heard about the Ruger SFAR but also heard that they're having some significant teething and QC issues.
So far I'm thinking the POF Revolution is probably my best bet. How has the long term reliability been on those things? Is POF's QC just as good as it was before DeSomma died?
I've always liked the general purpose idea for an ar15, I just wanted it in 308 . psa lower, upper barrel and bolt. romeo7 with magpul and houge stuff and a larue 2 stage trigger.
What’s better psa saber or Areo m5?
My good enough for me clone M110a1 SDMR conversion
Just finished my Aero .308 build (minus optic), and I think it turned out well. All together it's 8lbs with an empty mag. I did everything I could to mitigate felt recoil while keeping the weight down. It has an adjustable gas block, heavy buffer, shock absorbing stock, and gnarly muzzle break. It feels like a .223, so I would call that a win.
I also couldn't stand the cheap looking stamped dust cover that all ARs like to use, so I purchased a TimberCreek AR-308 dust cover and it seems to work well. It was really tight to close when I first got it (it's like .04mm too wide), but after opening and closing it 30 or so times it's finally broken in. It doesn't have a stop on it so there are small marks on the dust cover where it rests on the receiver (when open), but it still looks much better than the stock one. I don't get spending 2-3k on a rifle and having a $5 stamped (and always scuffed up) dust cover.
It seems like the A2, B5 Enhanced SOPMOD, and PRS Lite are the 3 most popular stocks. I'm wondering if you agree with that or if you have suggestions outside of those 3 options.
Obviously the A2 is not adjustable, the PRS has an adjustment cheek plate but some people think it's too long, and the B5 seems very popular for some reason that I'm not sure of.
What is your favorite stock?
Crappy sightmark
Crappybipod mounted to pic adapter
Samson star10 quad
Bkings mod0 set I think? 20" barrel.
HEAVY.
Looking to get a new 18 or 20" barrel for my P-308. I'm relatively new at this. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to source one? I'm also a little confused as to the compatability of what will work and won't work. I appreciate any advice.
Hopefully a quick question for everyone - I'm currently building a .308 SBR using the Aero M5 receiver set and in the process of searching for a 11.5" handguard to go with the 12.5" barrel. So far it looks like my best option is the 11.7" ZRO Handguard from SLR. They give two options for barrel nuts: a DPMS and a AR-10. I'm almost 95% sure the Aero M5 would use the DPMS barrel nut from what info I can find online but wanted to ask the group if that is the correct choice or not. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx!!
So I hate how heavy my SIG 716I is so I want to go with a 10.5” KAK barrel, but I’m getting hung up on which hand guard to get. I was looking at this quad rail but want to make sure it fits before I decide to drop $250 on it.
I have a Wilson Combat AR-10 with 20" barrel running 168 grain ammo that I've been having issues with failure to feed, failure to eject, double feeds, etc. since the day I purchased it new in 2021.
After recently installing a Riflespeed adjustable gas block with 12 gas settings, I've been able to get it to run reliably suppressed (SilencerCo Omega 36M in long config) on gas setting 4 out of 12 and ejecting at 3 o'clock, so all good there.
Unsuppressed however, even when running it on the max gas setting of 12 out of 12, , the bolt is not holding open after the last round despite ejecting at 3 o'clock. Based on my understanding (but happy to hear expert opinions), I'm assuming this means I'm still undergassed. However, it seems very odd to me that I would be undergassed even at max setting when running "normally".
I've also noticed that most if not all of my spent cases are bent/crimped at the neck (see photo). I think this might be happening both unsuppressed and suppressed, but i'm not entirely sure.
To hopefully fix the LRBHO issue (again which I'm assuming is caused by being undergassed), i'm contemplating either:
I could never get my previous Armalite Super SASS AR-10 running reliably either and sold it for the Wilson Combat, so I'm getting super annoyed at this point.
Any expert help would be greatly appreciated!
Is it true 6.5 creedmore barrels only last 2k-2.5k rounds for a good barrel and good ammo
