Veganism: "A philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals." - The Vegan Society

BEST vegan restaurants in New Zealand? Looking for upscale, high-end places!

Hi! My husband and I are traveling to New Zealand for three months next year. We're going to be all over the South and North islands. We're big foodies (and vegans, ofc!) and were wondering if there are any exceptional, high-end restaurants we need to try. Most things I'm finding online are cafes and super casual spots, which is fine and we will go to those too, but we would love to know if there's something more upscale and impressive.

Also open to any awesome patisseries or bakeries.

We'll be literally all over the country, except for Wellington, so will take recommendations all over the place.

Thank you! 🌱

Korfu/Greece - best options for family vacation?

Lovely community,

I'm looking for some recommendations: We - a group of families - wanna travel to Korfu/Kreta (or another greek Island) in April. Our friend used a company (ReNatour) last summer, which offers apartments for families with two vegetarian vegan meals and animation programm for children. But unfortunately they only offer options from May on.

Now I'm searching for something similar. We would love to be independent, f.e. having our own apartment or house with a cooking option. But also would love to have animations programm for the kids. And also would love to have vegetarian and vegan options, so we don't always have to cool or take care of breakfast. But almost all of us are vegetarians and vegans, so usual resorts don't offer any or enough food options for us.

Does anyone of you have any recommendations that might help us? We are greatful for any tips.

NYC for a Vegan and a fussy Omnivore

I’m off to visit New York at the end of November with my Mum and i’m looking for places that will cater to both of our needs. I know there’s a wealth of Vegan restaurants, but I know she wouldn’t be happy to dine in these places, so I to need to find restaurants with plant based options.

Another problem is my Mum only really enjoys typical British food, “meat and two veg” type, she’s partial to pasta but any curries, noodles and pizza is a bit of a no go. Please be kind she’s just of a certain generation of British person.

We’re staying in Midtown but happy to travel a bit for a nice spot that isn’t just Veal and Wagyu beef! Any help and recommendations, perhaps where you’ve been with Omnivore friends and family would be great! Thanks :)

Vegan omakase in LA

hey all—I want to make a reso for vegan omakase in LA when I’m there in a few weeks. Can someone tell me if I should go to Shojin or Kusaki ? I can only eat at one place. Helppppp. I’ve been to Japan and I love Japanese food and am jumping for joy at the chance for vegan omakase. I’m drawn to Shojin since the chef is Japanese.

Thank you!

Vegan in China

I’m travelling to China next year and I’m slowly doing research about what I can eat. I’ll be travelling to rural China, so no big cities. Xingping, Fenghuang and Zhangjiajie mainly.

I found this translation card and was hoping someone can confirm that this will be ok to use and show people if I need to clarify anything. I will be using a translation app too but I found this card as a backup that may be handy.

And if anyone has any suggestions for places to eat in those 3 areas, that would be great 😊

Which Nordic city is best for vegans?

I've looked at Happy Cow and have an understanding of how many vegan restaurants are in the major Nordic cities. I recently traveled to Berlin and found a thriving vegan community. Are there any Nordic cities that would be similarly recommended for vegans?
