Want to start an activist house

I had the idea of buying a smallish apartment or wear house in a city and having a group of like 20 activists live there and do full time activism. I honestly have nothing to loose at this point and it would be really cool to be around likeminded people. I know it sounds like a crazy fantasy but maybe other think it’s a good idea too. The tough part would be affording the place. Maybe we could live in like the basement of a vegan restaurant lol. Maybe in a rich vegans basement idk. I think something like this could really push forward the movement. We’re all too isolated right now. We need to come together. We need to apply constant pressure and cause some chaos to make a difference.

Is it okay to be unable to go outside to do activism?

Assuming I live to see another day which doesn't seem hopeful in my constantly swinging moods, is there anything wrong with being unable to go outside to do activism? I recently listened to a Bring Me The Horizon song which was calling out 'slacktivists', basically people who preach behind a computer. A lot like what I do.

But I've got a lot of issues that stop me from being able to go outside. Autism, OCD, mixed anxiety, and I think I have undiagnosed agoraphobia and selective mutism. I want to do more, I just don't know how I can overcome these issues, especially when I struggle to get out the door everyday, especially with people I don't know too well. Like all the vegans in my local area message me a few times then ghost me. I fucking hate my life.

Let’s be for real about making animal rights change.

*UPDATE: rewrote bc a lot of people took this way out of context

Advocate, educate, fundraise and donate. Be outspoken, assertive and heard. allow yourself to be pissed the fuck off, it’s something to be mad about. Keep your composure though, bc anger fuelled confrontation can feel threatening to the defensive and unreceptive, which you can’t fix. You might lose friends or have opposition, bc no matter what cause you’re fighting for someone will try to invalidate and mock your efforts. So if the trash wants to take itself out, let it. They’re doing you a favour. I make that point bc the main thing I see holding people back from being vocal about matters like this, is their worry about how others will react. As if that’s not literally the whole point.

Go to the city and demand:

  • the reallocation of budgets and funds for resourcing
  • affordable spay & neuter mandate
  • limited breeding / pedigree permits within each city limit
  • enforce tighter screening / background checks for breeders and adopters
  • tougher punishment for criminalized abuse (like serious jail time and a nationwide registry for abusers so they can't own pets ever again - I understand animal abuse is already a felony and investigated as such, but it's not taken seriously enough)
  • routine wellness checks for owners (I understand there may be room for concern here). the reallocated funds could employ officers specifically for this job
  • and more …

Don’t let them shut you up or kick you out, which happens when you speak the truth in political meetings. Especially if they’re televised. Don’t get physical, but you have autonomy and the first amendment. Fuck the bullshit laws they have in place that only fuck rescues and the animals themselves. Their lives depend on our protest. You wouldn’t be complacent if it was your kid and no one would expect you to, so why is this any different?

For those council meetings, published articles, and everyday conversations, research and put together indisputable arguments to call out those local, state and federal officials in charge of these policies. Blindside them by showing you’ve done that research and can offer a solution they can’t deny is effective. That’s how debate works. The only way to help is to educate and illuminate reality so enough people are aware and moved to facilitate change.

Indifference, willful ignorance, lack of awareness, and the bystander effect are what allow this shit to keep happening. Be so straight forward about the crisis that is the overpopulation, that people can't ignore it. Share with the world how truly horrible animals are treated. It hurts to see, it's uncomfortable, but it's reality and can’t be denied. If that's how we moved through the world it'd be anarchy.. but we don't. There's good, selfless people who actually make a point to take action and shit DOES improve. The only problem is that a lot of people believe the world can only change by being diplomatic and asking for someone to give a fuck. That never works. You can’t reason or bargain with evil or ignorant. If u need to, rescue animals regardless of |@w$. By that I mean like, if you know someone’s running a sketchy puppy mill, don’t be afraid to do something about it yourself if the city isn’t. Sometimes breaking the rules is a moral obligation. I’m not telling anyone to do anything. that is up to them. But we can’t keep waiting for someone else to save the day or for politicians to come to their senses, bc the animals are constantly being killed and you can't say the justice system is respectable to rely on anyways. They're the same people who aren't reforming policy bc they'd lose out on a shit ton of $$$. Like a breeding permit where i’m from is $250 alone. Animal breeding is a big business and only once that business is boycotted and dismantled will intake, abandonment, euthanasia, abuse, etc. numbers drop.

If you really care, you can find the time to do something about it. Even with just 5-10 minutes of your day. Send an email, make a phone call, write a request for a legislative proposal, locally survey for potential fosters, ask your employer for example if they’d be willing to set up a fundraiser. There’s so so so many things we can do. There’s no excuse. Sorry for a million posts and vulgarity lol, but thanks to those who listen. This is too important. Pls share.

Animal Rescue Center in Cista Rica

Hello all! I wanted to post about an amazing rescue/sanctuary in Costa Rica. The sanctuary is called Animal Love and the resort is called Lands in Love. I know there are a lot of scams out there but in this case I visited this place in person so I know it is legit. I don't post much (at all) on Reddit but please don't judge my post by my karma :) I saw another post questioning if this place was for real and so I wanted to make this post so people could see it really is an amazing place. In March 2021 my family and I visited Costa Rica ( I know, covid, don't judge we really needed to get away) We were traveling from Atenas to La Fortuna and started seeing signs for a vegan restaurant. The last sign for it also mentioned it was also a cat sanctuary. Needless to say, we immediately decided that was the place for us! We stopped and had an incredible vegan lunch in an absolutely beautiful resort / restaurant. We then made donations to visit the animal sanctuary. We spent the next hour or so touring the cat and dog facilities and getting to know what the place was all about. We learned the story of how the sanctuary started, I took this ftom their website so as not to misquote them: We are a group of 16 vegan friends who originally came from Israel and fell in love with the natural beauty of this country. Inspired by our passion for the environment and sustainable living, we decided to make Costa Rica our home and create a special place where we could share with others our love for nature and animals.

Most of the hotel’s income are transferred directly in favor of our huge no-kill rescue center called Animal love.

On our tour, the young woman who showed us around knew every animal's name and story. She was visibly emotional when we went through a beautiful memorial garden they had where animals who had passed away were laid to rest. It was very very clear that these people were 100% committed to caring for every animal that came their way, no matter the condition, no matter the cost. Word spread quickly about the rescue and soon there were animals of every kind being dropped at their gates daily to care for.

I have no doubt they have become overcrowded. How could a sanctuary not be overcrowded when animals are dumped there daily and they take care of all of them? I also have no doubt about their intentions and their absolute love for all the animals. I donate when I can and hope to one day go back and volunteer. I hope in reading this that you will feel comfortable at least checking them out, they need all the help they can get. I know I am only one random person on Reddit that you don't know but feel free to ask questions and I will answer what I can. Please don't judge this amazing place for lack of info readily available, these people are caring for hundreds and hundreds of animals. They don't have the resources or staff to update info constantly. I know from the posts I saw that they are trying to get influencers to visit to spread the word as they are in great financial need. If there are any influencers that were looking for more info before visiting them, feel free to ask me anything, I will answer what I can. In short these people and this place are the real deal, I hope you will look into it.

This is one of my most hated “animal rights talking points” - *sigh* kidnapped & tortured his whole life, now about to be dismembered fully conscious.. but god forbid you grab his nose.. Fxck

(I’m finishing up a really disturbing video about the truth of cows being killed. But run across this silly statement so often I have to write this) The fact that this is even worth mentioning is completely counter intuitive - its a release valve for those who want to believe they have “standards”

So calling them pulling at a cows noise.. abuse. (which everyone understands and is a emotional term)

(not to mention them trapped in an intimidating machine, hearing screams of your friends as blood pools out as they are cut in pieces.. seeing some disgusting human covered in blood coming up with a big knife while smiling as you scream for help.. )

  • also somehow is less meaningful than than a nose pinch

but then calling, him getting 80% of his head cut off - only to remain alive while they begin skinning & dismembering him ….. “slaughter” (which is a term most associate as a bad - but necessary act (( how me eaters view it, not us compassionate people of course))

  • hearing that term comes with the fallacy of them having standards and laws they abide by.
  • while abuse is the term, you instantly know is wrong and should be stopped.

For fxck sake people

Slaughterhouse worker that abuses animals

Hello guys I need help about animal abuse. My family comes from poverty and my uncle worked at a slaugherhouse, he becamw very cruel afterwards and would tell me about abusing animals. Kicking, punching, stabbing them and horrible things. I was horrified and this made me vegan. He then got fired for fighting the owner. Now a few years later he got a job at another ranch that has a slaughterhouse. I'm horrified that he could be making the animals lives even worse then they already are. If it's possible could you guys help me leave reviews tell them to not keep an employee that has a history of abuse. His name is Sandy. Thank you

This is their ranch and the farmers market they run https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100085071421371

Your awareness is one of the most powerful tool at your disposal in life.

Do you know just how powerful you are?

Even though child hood traumas, events that happened or even words that were said a long time ago, hurt and carry through into our adulthood robbing us of our aliveness and spontaneity, become trapped within the body and its energy field, causing tension, stress and possibly disease.

There's a healthy, natural process that allows you to release this stored, suppressed or blocked energy to resolve issues, become more alive and regain full control of your conscious awareness, to receive the positive energy from the universe that is infinitely there.

To truly understand how you can start this process, here's an interesting point of view from past cultures.

According to martial arts/traditional Chinese medicine we have a Vital Energy/Life force that is supposed to develop into three forms, the second one being what they call "Qi" and the third one is where it becomes your conscious awareness/attention/intention, what they call "Shen".

Bruce lee demonstrating his activation of Qi during a battle in the Netflix series

This Vital Energy/Life force in its raw stage gets refined in you until it transforms into an etheric vapor.

At this point you can experience it as the Runner's High during an intense exercise, or as Frisson while being "moved" , or as the Vibrational State before an Astral Projection, or as Qi in Taoism and in Martial Arts, or as Prana in Hindu philosophy or during an ASMR session and as Chills/Goosebumps when being deeply moved.

If you have successfully released all your blocked energy from past traumas and etc., this is something that you should be able to feel on-demand, all over your body or have it originate wherever you want and for hours.

If not, be forced to only have it fizzle during encounters with positive internal/external sources such as listening to a song you really like, thinking about a lover, watching a moving movie scene, striving, feeling thankful, praising God, praying, etc.

This blissful sensation has been researched and documented under many names like Bioelectricity, Life force, Prana, Chi, Qi, Runner's High, Euphoria, ASMR, Ecstasy, Orgone, Rapture, Tension, Aura, Mana, Vayus, Nen, Intent, Tummo, Odic force, Kriyas, Pitī, Frisson, Ruah, Spiritual Energy, Secret Fire, The Tingles, on-demand quickening, Voluntary Piloerection, Aether, Chills, Spiritual Chills and many more to be discovered hopefully with your help.

Finally, here are three written tutorials to help you specifically learn how to release blocked energy from you and take control of your Vital energy/Life force for its many possibilities.

P.S. Everyone feels it at certain points in their life, some brush it off while others notice that there is something much deeper going on. Those are exactly the people you can find on r/spiritualchills where they share experiences, knowledge and tips on it.

What to do about stupid signs?

Chain grocery store has signs saying that meat is "harvested".

No mention of slaughter, or butcher. Like animals are now plants?

The same store has a "plant based" section in the middle of the refrigerated meat wall.

I will likely get arrested for sticking the right words over their stupid signs...

Messaging on Colorado River water being depleted for cattle feed

I assume someone posted this story already, but if not, here it is for context.

https://www.denverpost.com/2024/04/07/colorado-river-water-uses-cattle-crops-alfalfa-hay/

I humbly suggest every vegan on here post this article on every social media platform you are active on. Instead of a “go vegan” message, I propose something that will have a more visceral effect and make people angry at the meat industry.

I suggest the link be posted with comments like “when your lawn is dead and you can’t water it, remember that the meat industry took all the water they wanted to grow hay” or “they blame you for taking a shower, but it was the cattle ranching industry that depleted the water.”

We want to pit citizens of the west, who periodically can’t use as much water as they want against the meat industry, who never has limits. Normally we are saying don’t do this, don’t do that, and it runs against human nature. Humans hate scarcity and giving things up. Here we flip the script and show the meat industry is causing scarcity and limiting what you can do.

We need to really touch these pain points that come with inevitable water rationing and make sure people are mad at the true culprits. Don’t say “go vegan” this time around. That shifts the anger away from where it needs to be. This is a long game strategy to make people mad at Big Ag so future “go vegan” messaging can succeed. This is planting seeds.

Let’s all get this story out there and make sure people are mad as hell as the meat industry!

Does anyone have a vegan zines?

I've been thinking about doing some leafleting recently and like the idea of zines over flyers. However I can't seem to find any animal rights zines and am not artistically gifted enough to make one that looks great. Someone made a post here with some years back but the link is broken. Any help is appreciated.
