Do I have time to ski at Winter WonderGrass?

I just bought my ticket and am wondering how long I should plan to stay in Colorado. I want to ski at least once and was wondering if the music starts late enough to go straight to the fest after hitting the slopes.

Has anyone done this, and if so, would you recommend?

Maybe moving to the area and would like to know more

My partner and I are looking at places in Hayden, Craig, or Steamboat Springs. I have a 2 year old and we will likely have another child at some point. Can anyone tell me what things for kids there are in the area? Do you like raising kids there? How are the school systems and daycare? I live in a very rural area right now and there is nothing to do with my kiddo for an hour and half so I'm curious what all Steamboat has to offer.

First Timer Solo Snowboarder Going Nov 22 to 27 - Looking to Meet New People, Hang Out, Nightlife / Hotel

I'll be traveling solo to Steamboat from November 22 to 27. First timer. It would be cool to meet people to hang out, grab a bite, and socialize with on the slopes, bars, and nightlife. I am currently not drinking, but still go out to bars and restaurants late night. I wouldn't mind sharing a hotel if everyone is cool too.

Send me a chat message and we'll connect.

Driving from Steamboat to Vail in the winter?

Hello!

What is the standard route from Steamboat to Vail in the winter time? Google Maps has the 131 but i was not sure if this route was open year-round. Thank you in advance!

Winter Wondergrass

To the chick at Wondergrass this March that said with my eyes and smile I would be fine if I had to go back in the dating pool, thank you. I’ve thought about that compliment almost every day for the last 7 months.

Need Advice on Building Community in SB

I am a 29M moving to Steamboat this winter and curious if people have tips on best ways to build community in the area. I am very into outdoor activities (hiking, biking, skiing, etc.) and wonder if there are good outing clubs to consider? I am always down for a new adventure or something out of my comfort zone, but worry about where to start. What was your personal experience like moving to SB? Any advice will go a long way :)

Bus/Drive from Oak Creek in Winter?

I'm hoping to do a ski trip at Steamboat in early January and will be staying in Oak Creek. I was trying to find more information about getting around but wasn't turning up much.

How is the drive between Oak Creek and Steamboat in Winter?

Alternatively, are there any buses that run between Steamboat and Oak Creek in winter?

Edit: Thanks to everyone for your great advice! The verdict is to NOT drive. I rebooked a hotel in Craig and will be using the buses to get around.

I desperately need ideas

I foolishly planned a long weekend family trip to Steamboat for this upcoming weekend without looking at what activities are closed. Normally, exploring the town and enjoying the scenery and some hiking and hot springs would be more than enough to occupy us, but we have a four year old son who may need more stimulation. All the ideas we have aren't going to work.

Alpine slide, gondola, family fun park, all closed. Horseback riding, too young. Ice bumper cars, there's a hockey tournament. I'm kind of desperate at this point. All I have is the botanic park, fish Creek falls and bowling? Not exactly an inspiring itinerary. I can't even find an indoor pool or arcade he could enjoy. The only other options I can see are the rock climbing center and maybe the Zipline adventure thing. Not sure he could effectively do either though. Also, money. I'm not swimming in it or anything.

So, I ask for any and all ideas that would entertain an almost five year old. And just in case it gets asked, he doesn't need constant stimulation. Just a part of each of the four days he can get excited about. I welcome any input.

Is there a shop in the boat that does nordic/cross-country season rentals for a 5 year old?

Title. Live in Craig and don't want to buy gear she will outgrow during the season.

ride from yampa airport

I'm going to steamboat on January 27th and staying until the 31st. I have been looking for rides and shuttles but everything is crazy expensive, the shuttle for 6 people is more expensive than our hotel even thought trying to book 5 months in advance. Wondering if anyone knows a cheap ride from the airport to steamboat for 6 people. Even if someone wants to make some cash to pick us up at the airport.

Torian Plaza or Gondola Square Ares

Hi all—visiting SB for the first time in probably 20 years and bringing my wife and 8yo with me this time. Skied the last few years at Beaver Creek, and bit the bullet to stay in the village for easy ski in/out access. They are beginner skiers—can handle any greens with ease, can ski blues, but prefer not to push it too much. The 8yo will be in ski school for a few days. I’ve got two options for lodging, either Torian Plum area or Gondola Square area. I know there are restaurants and shops at each. It seems that walking between the two won’t be terrible. But curious if anyone has any thoughts or preferences on either?

Where to Get Involved in the Community?

Looking to get more involved in our community and would appreciate some recommendations on where to start. Groups, organizations, or events — I'm interested in contributing to the town and meeting new people along the way. Thanks in advance!

Steamboat lesson prices??

Looking to visit between xmas/new years (peak peak season, I know) and lesson prices seem to be about $500/day for a 5 year old??? With only full day options available?

I know prices have gone up, but really? Have I been out of the game so long that this is reasonable now???

Are there any alternatives? I'd opt to teach her myself, but a day pass for her is $192 (yes, $200 for someone that can't ski to access the lifts...) and I don't believe those not in lessons can access the magic carpets.

Moving back to Steamboat, 2 cats, no job, no home.

I'm moving back out to Steamboat from Florida in the next couple of weeks. My plan is to line up a job or at least find one ASAP, and car camp in the national forests to save up for a place to rent. However, I have 2 cats that I really want to keep. They would need temporary fostering until I get set up. I would pay for their food and litter plus a little extra for watching them. I'm posting here grasping at straws. Can anyone help or have any advice for me? Thank you.

UPDATE: I have an interview for a good paying job, so my fingers are crossed.

Roast my restaurant choices

We have an 3 days in steamboat: Group of 30s aged men reunion trip, my limited research led me to these choices. If you hate one of these please stop us from ruining our lives:

Breakfast spots

-Creekside grill -Winona’s restaurant and bakery

Lunch spots

-The laundry -Sumatra restaurant or Backdoor grill depending on mood

Dinners

-The ore house -truffle pig (heard this one is controversial) -cafe diva

Thanks guys

Tourists, don't treat locals/employees like shit

A man at Walmart just an hour ago was being blatantly racist and harassing an employee. There were tons of people around, yet everyone ignored him, even though he's being as loud and obnoxious as he can. I tried to help her but I'm a younger woman so of course the crypt keeper blew me off. Everyone in this community needs to do better for each other. In my mind, from what I see living here, it's no wonder the suicide rates are high. Everyone who was at Walmart and saw that with me and didn't say anything; you suck. And if the literal gremlin himself happens to see this, I hope u enjoy that hydrogen peroxide you were making such a childish fuss over, and I hope the rest of your life is as rotted and miserable as you clearly are.

Gondola Mountain Bike or Emerald Mountain?

I have a small group of novice-intermediate rider 30s men looking for beautiful views and easy riding downhill. There seems to be a Split View as to what would be best for an afternoon mountain biking experience—which way /where would you recommend for us?

Thanks
