Are there any restaurants in SC that have gluten free bread, pastries, or pasta? Delivery preferably, I'm at work and hungry lol I'm aware of IHOP's gluten free pancakes and that Chick-fil-A, Oliver Garden, and Jersey Mike's have gluten free options but is there anywhere else?
Hi! New to the town - any pickleball groups here who meet after 5PM on weekdays/any time on the weekends here?
YMCA is awesome, but requires a membership to be there. Any alternatives?
Anyone know why it’s roped of and tons of cops in the parking lot?
I’d always rather apologize for something I didn’t do, than risk the idea of damaging someone else’s everything.
Perhaps this is soft. (Great use of “perhaps”there ;)). And believe me, I’m TOUGH. But maybe this is a cop out?
I see that there is growth in my future. I think not apologizing for everything will be healthy and a necessary step to becoming a healthy confident man. But in the mean time, sorry for making yall listen to me.
Edit: “thanks” for making yall listen to me
Wondering if any other happy valley residents are taking advantage of the dates lining up with PSU/SCASD break!
Has anyone heard that ICE was in state college today? If so what have you heard?
I'm looking for someone who knows how to cut curly hair. Mine needs a trim and shaped badly, it's been almost a year! 3A curl type and not super thick or long. I'd love to get it done asap but I'm willing to wait for someone who knows what they're doing.
This is so oddly specific! I would like to look into working for PSU but I am not sure if their med insurance covers Wegovy? I am considering leaving my current employer because they are placing a lot of stipulations on my prescription. I wanted to ask if anyone here works at PSU and takes wegovy? does your insurance cover it and what does it usually cost? I normally pay $0-$25 depending on where I’m at in the year.
This location is always out of literally everything? I got the last of the black beans at 515pm on a Friday and they’re out of tortillas? Like bro what do you mean. I’ve lived in 6 states across the country and this chipotle is hands down the worst one ever 😂😂
Hello! I’m currently working in industry and was considering leaving coming back to state college to work at the ARL.
I’m currently remotely working on my PhD while working. In terms of grade level would it be better for me to finish then apply?
Am I allowed to teach while at ARL and if so does this provide extra pay or just part of your regular pay?
Are you a traditional PSU employee or a government employee (I know it’s involved with the DoD)?
I saw a lot of conflicting views on work life balance from other posts. What flexibility is offered? Do you work hybrid, asynchronously, ect?
How do people in state college meet people when not Penn state students? Any clubs or activities to join? I don’t have kids so I won’t be able to meet anyone that way.
Appreciate any input you can provide!
Tue, Feb 11, 2025, 12:15 p.m. EST is the next state college borough transportation meeting.
CATA has made it clear they will not be fighting for us to have better buses. In a meeting at the Library on Jan 22, 2025, local community members pointed out the indefensible gaps in the bus system and they put it on us to fix them.
Please consider attending the next transport meeting for the state college borough and telling them that they need to contract with CATA so we can get buses to the airport and the hospital. (Two services they will likely not offer unless the city offers them money)
I went to a catabus meeting yesterday. It was made clear, If you do not call any beg your local representatives, the B line service will END in June and you (in Bellefonte) will all once again have no bus service.
February 3rd at 6:30pm is the next bellefonte town hall. Please consider attending to request they renew the service contract with CATA.
Edit for clarity
Hello- I'm moving to a place with a washer/dryer, and am trying to sell the ones I currently have. Does anyone know of places that buy used ones (they're only 2 years old, and still nice). I know of Mike's, but am trying to find different options, as well. Thanks!

We'll be in State College this weekend for a sports clinic on campus. I'm an alum but haven't eaten anywhere in town, other than Yallah Taco, in years. Staying downtown. What's a reasonably priced option for basic American fare? How about pizza? I'm reading that Faccia Luna is still great, so we might ditch town and head there.
My partner has been offered an academic job at Penn State, and we are strongly considering the move. However we're coming from a much larger, more liberal area and are super concerned about feeling isolated.
Fk Meta...
DIY art and music is important! Great growing community here and a ton of talented and nice people
Would love to see more people from the real Central PA area... https://discord.gg/923zFfud9Q
Who has the best Pizza in and around State College?
Okay, I’ve posted few times here for advice on places to go. I just moved here & reddit/google are my only places to go for feedback on places in this area.
I need a doctor & MedExpress urgent care/Mount Nittany are the two that my insurance is accepted by.
Both of them have such horrible reviews 😂
Are these places really THAT bad or are they from people who are just angry they didn’t hear what they wanted to hear? I mean both places are littered with receptionist being rude, being charged for more than they thought, and nurses not caring at all.
I just moved here and I don't want to take my car to a dealership and pay any extreme prices. Recommendations for mechanics around here that do a good job and aren't extremely expensive? I need to get my brakes changed, oil change, and tires rotated.
Thank you in advance!
Can be within 2 hours of State College in any direction. Thank you!
Hey, I (23M) just moved here from chicago, near Penn State campus, for work.
Though not a college student anymore, I'm still a new-grad (2023) interested in pickleball, hiking, biking, going out and outdoorsy stuff.
I love to play board/video games with friends and try new restaurants!
Any cool ways to get to know more people? Anyone on this sub who also just moved here? What does this town have to offer?
Thanks in advance!
