Hi all! I moved to Harrisburg within the last year, so I’m still getting familiar with things. I’m getting set up to be a sub for the Harrisburg School District and I don’t currently have health insurance. I need to quickly get an appointment for a TB test to get cleared for work, but MedExpress (the suggested option) is pretty expensive!
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any local labs that ran these kinds of tests routinely or something?
Thank you in advance for your help!
I've seen many other r/‘s doing this and didn’t see it here. So, who are the local businesses in the Capital region that support Trump & MAGA?
Does anyone know if Masa is closed for good? I attempted to order from them online but their website is gone.
Just went to Trader Joe’s and they were out of eggs, have never seen that since they opened.
There were so many people I thought we were getting a winter storm Sunday 😂
They were also out of a lot of stuff and prices had gone up. What tf is going on??
Hello! I’m trying to remember a kids clothing store across from tree of life church on linglestown road in the early 2000s. It had a hippo on the sign and was in the shopping plaza with the dollar general. Do any of you remember this and what it was called?
Hi everyone new to Harrisburg just moved here about a month ago from California due to financial issues, I’m having trouble as a 26 y/o getting past the first interviews for work here in Harrisburg some gaps in my employment. Due to several reasons like Covid layoffs, going to college, my own personal health issues, and having to step away from having a full time job to take care of my 96 y/o grandfather in California. Have been told I was getting the job multiple times while applying here but never got the email or a call back confirming I did get the position. Most of my interviews I’ve had here have usually ended at the start with them saying I have gaps in my resume going back to when I was 16 and still in high school. Please help with any information I could use to get past that. McDonalds and subway have told me I need to have previous experience with my age in some sort of food service or get a food handler licenses myself to be qualified to work there. Most of my work experience is warehouse and customer service. Anything helps thanks.
Hello! I have applied to Harrisburg University's GIS program and was recently accepted and would like to hear from any past/current undergrads on their experiences in general with HU or with the GIS / similar programs. I live semi-nearby so would commute from home.
I have heard a lot of controversy on reddit due to the Day 1 CPT graduate program, bad rep of some of the past HU higher-ups (one recently resigned?) - but I have heard nearly nothing about actual undergrad experience. I was interested if this seemingly bad leadership translated to their undergrad programs - aka being understaffed, poor class quality, etc.
I would greatly appreciate any advice! Thank you.
What happened with federal taphouse? They’re closed and their website is down.
I purchased this for the game day and would like to test it out before I invite everyone over on the big day. I found a channel called Fox43 but couldn’t tell if they will broadcast the Super Bowl there
The world is going to shit yes…however. let’s shake some things up with having a “Bartender Mix Off” there are some INCREDIBLE bartenders here (you know who they are) and they’re ready to compete. A couple things we’ll need a videographer and a venue for the competition to take place. Any contenders?!? I

Anyone else see this? Can we get details about these two to make sure they never have a job or friend in the area ever again?
Helping my friend look for a room to rent. 40 year old male. Drug/alcohol/smoke free. No criminal background.
I thoroughly enjoyed my sunny day in Harrisburg. Dinner at Cork and Fork, breakfast at Yellow Bird but alas! The art museum is between exhibits so there was very little to see. Decided to try the state museum - liked many parts of it but too much taxidermy and dioramas for me. Then I headed to the Capitol, which the woman at the art museum assured me was the most beautiful in the nation. Since there were 47 I’d never seen, I couldn’t disagree and after visiting - I still can’t! The murals! The stained glass in the galleries! Truly fabulous. But…I love old buildings. Strolled over the The Vegetable Hunter for a great eggplant Ruben then stopped at St. Patrick’s for more stained glass. I must confess I’m still feeling a bit ill over the description of the Paxton Boys slaughter of the last of the Susquehannock as “unfortunate.” How about horrific? Someone needs to talk to museum management about that bit of racism. Otherwise, a lovely day.
Not sure if bulk is the right term, but curious if there are any local stores that sell mushrooms in a way where you can pick your own individual mushrooms rather than being forced to buy an entire pre-packaged pint/quart?
Used to always find them sold this way when I lived in other states.
Where do you go for a good haircut? I am a plus size woman with short hair like a pixie cut. I've been going to the same place for like 8 years. But they're just too expensive right now. like seventy to eighty dollars per trip.
I don't mind a supercuts, but I want to make sure the stylist can give me a nice cut. So I don't look too budged or too old.
Anywhere from halifax to Hershey is fine.
Thank you in advance.
Has anybody noticed we're starting to see California and Florida level rental cost in the area? Am I missing something or do the majority of jobs in this area just not pay what people are asking? There's been a massive amount of rental complexes popping up in the 4 years I've lived here and the cost has nearly doubled in some areas. I don't get it.
Really curious since I’ll be there in a few months
Hi y'all,
Don't flame me. I've been young and dumb.
My fiancée and I are looking to move back to Harrisburg but need places that will just take our cash and not care so much about income and poor credit. I'm largely disabled until upcoming surgery and while I can make money doordashing, and my fiancée's income never meets the demands for 3x the rent even though we can budget for housing. I know private landlords can be a good option, but there are so many scams on Facebook and Craigslist.
Does anyone have contractor recommendations? I have a few things around the house that need to be fixed.
I moved to midtown a few months ago and need an inspiration and probably tires and oil is nearly due so might as well do it all. Firestone down by the Y quoted double what my shop back home used to charge. I don’t mind paying extra for great service and know how but also don’t want dealer prices. Any good spots? As I’ll probably be there a few hours a good waiting area would be nice too lol. Thanks y’all
