Day 2 of editing stand eyecatches: Kiss

Here I separated the stats of Kiss from the stats of the sticker ability. It's the same stand, but the two different abilities of it have two different statistics

Part6 time stop

As we know , Dio and Jotaro were the only people who could stop time (not counting part7 and so on) and they both died.
But what if jolyne's stand was similar to Jotaro's and could stop time too? Would they be able to defeat pucci in the final fight?

Taste in Literature and JoJo’s

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is my favorite manga series. I grew up reading American comics (Batman being my favorite); and about 2 years ago when I finished the anime, to this year when I caught up with the current chapters of part 9, JoJo’s has beaten my nostalgia and Araki has made a comic that I put at an equal love for Batman.

So I love JoJo’s, but compare that to my favorite Novel series that I’m reading “Malazan Book of the Fallen” and there’s a lot of noticeable differences. The MBOTF written by Steven Erikson and the concurrent NotME series written by Co-creator Ian C Esslemont are very different than JoJo’s. JoJo’s is whacky, random, fun, emotional, and has very strong themes. The complexity lies within the fights and Araki layers the narrative into the action itself, being a shonen (at least that’s how it started). However, Malazan is a lot more slower paced, and like a Shakespearean play a majority of the characters are waxing poetic about their worldview, societal and anthropological problems, personal philosophies. All the while epic complex fantasy plots are being woven with some great action (one of the best sieges ever written in Book 3). Also Malazan is very theme heavy, some who want a pure action fantasy will be disappointed as some have labeled the series as navel gazing.

So 2 very different series in terms of pace, narrative style, subject matter, novel Vs manga, etc. However the similarities are more striking. Malazan has over 400 characters that you get the POV of, and JoJo’s (while not having that many) goes against the grain by having different main characters to the point that there is not a single one. This is one quality both series share and execute well. And is the reason I wanted to try each series, it sounded ambitious.

Now, I don’t need to explain all the crazy shit that happens in JoJo’s, so I’ll explain for Malazan my next similarity. Both series have a lot of shit that sound completely ridiculous, but both series take themselves seriously enough to where it’s believable within said series. I’ve described Malazan a bit, but in addition to what I’ve said it’s a very dark setting, not grim-dark due to the hopeful message, but it’s does breach into territories of SA, child abuse, addiction, trauma, etc. But Malazan also has zombie dinosaurs with swords for arms. Abbot and Costello-esque characters where one is an eccentric mortal and the other a bored elder god. A fat mage self obsessed, addiction with pastries, speaking in the third person with many soliloquies, and could quite possibly be a god but you don’t know. Both JoJo’s and Malazan allow room for really whacky elements, but still have so much heart put into it that you take it seriously while it also seeming ridiculous.

Now, I’m not the first person to compare Malazan to an anime, it has a lot of anime-esque moments. But my main reason for posting is to hopefully interest you into checking out Malazan if it sounds interesting, but moreso to ask: How different is your favorite novel or other literary medium of story compare to JoJo’s, what are the heavy differences vs the striking similarities that tell a lot about who you, as the reader, are in your taste in stories?

TL;DR : OP gushes about JoJo’s and a Fantasy Novel series about their differences and similarities, and wants to know if others relate and what it says about them as a reader.

Thank you for reading, love to hear responses from anyone that reads this.

After the end of Stone Ocean, does Jolyne no longer have a stand?

No idea if I’m misinterpreting the ending, but from what i understand emporio basically undid everything pucchi did with made in heaven, so the events of part 6 never happened at all and jolyne didn’t go to prison.

Jolyne got her stand in prison due to the actions of pucchi technically, so doesn’t that mean that in the ending she is a normal person without a stand?

I'm watching stone ocean, and to me it doesn't make any sense how easily they escaped from prison.

The other 22 chapters had problems to move from one place to another in the prison because it was a very big prison, with many armed guards 1 kilometer away from the city surrounded by an ocean, but one day they say “I'm going, time to escape from the prison” and the next frame they are already outside.
