Purpose:
Due to an overwhelming number of posts in /r/nootropics where people post their stacks and ask for advice on dosages, feedback, recommendations, etc, we have created a supplementary subreddit for requesting and giving personalised advice.
Consider this a friendly environment for stack advice, Nootropics recommendation, supplement information, and any question concerning Nootropics.
Please include medications/supplements you use, any health conditions, your sleep, diet and exercise habits.
Posts need to be either asking for stack advice, offering stack advice, requesting someone to rate a stack, or other Q&A type posts.
Advertisers should not advertise your products here and product advertisements will be removed.
Links to resources and references are fine.

I ordered Thesis on a whim. I have ADHD but am currently and have been unmedicated for a long time. It's manageable most of the time, but I know I'd benefit heavily from some help. Adderall worked until it didn't (gave me a crazy panic attack and I stopped cold turkey 7 years ago).
I'm taking Welbutrin and Lexapro (over a year) and while they help with depression and anxiety, my ADHD remains rampant.
My issue is....new medications are kind of an anxiety trigger for me LOL I guess thats what the Lexapro is for, calming my ass down. But I am already psyching myself out about how Thesis could potentially make me feel.
Any insight and experience would be helpful. I'm going to talk to my therapist more and my Dr. as well but I don't really trust my Dr's judgement (another story altogether).
Thanks :)
Hi /r/stackadvice/!
Let me preface this post by saying I have fairly limited experience with nootropics. I drink yerba mate, and take ashwagandha and tongkat ali. As for conventional supplements, I take vitamin D and magnesium. I'm a 36 year old man, and I find this stack helpful for a comfortable level of testosterone and energy, and a reduction of stress and anxiety. I try hitting the gym 4-5 times a week.
The other day, I stumbled upon a reel with a clip from an interview in which what I believe was a female doctor was talking to a male interviewer about a substance that if taken while pregnant will increase the future IQ of the child. I thought I bookmarked the clip, but sadly I lost it.
My question is threefold:
1 - Any feedback on the above mentioned stack would be appreciated. Especially with regards to boosting energy and testosterone levels in a healthy way, while curtailing anxiety.
2 - if you recognize the interview I described, it would be a great help if you could identify it for me. I'd love to hear it in its entirety, and to read the relevant research.
3 - Any advice on beneficial supplements while pregnant would be highly appreciated. While I'm particularly interested in the child's IQ, the advice doesn't have to be limited to that, anything beneficial is interesting. Bear in mind, the woman in question has PCOS.
I did read the beginners guide, and I assure you that the mother in question will be consulting a doctor before taking anything. She's not looking to run any risks, and will take the utmost care to act responsibly.
Hi all,
I'll preface this by saying I've not really had any experience with nootropics at all but have been looking into them these past few days and now looking for a bit of advice as a potential aid to an issue I'm experiencing whilst playing lawn bowls.
I've played Lawn Bowls for around 2 years now and for some reason I've developed a lack of focus/concentration accompanied by a feeling of self doubt and anxiety when playing. This specifically happens when playing in a competitive structure (no issues in general practice). Lawn Bowls as a sport requires a high degree of focus and the ability to allow your subconscious mind to take over your muscle memory etc when playing. As you can imagine, the anxiety/self-doubt and lack of focus throws this all into disarray and leads to poor performance.
I'm wondering if there's a nootropic I could potentially take as/when required to help aid in with this. Ideally, for ease of use I'd prefer an all in one tablet but I understand this may not be the best option.
TIA, any advice greatly appreciated.
I currently take a quite effective stack of Bacopa, Gotu Kola & ALCAR. Only side effects are gastrointestinal issues but therefore positive effects on depression and anxiety. Still I wanted to try out Wild Lettuce (“enhanced“, probably extract?) which has been laying around at my place to try for a long time.
Are there any issues mixing these? Why? Should I rather skip one day of my stack and try it out solo?
Everybody seems to be having very good experiences with it, as for me it just gets me tired and desmotivated, is there anything that i should be stacking it with so to pump up the benefits?
I take a 250mg pill before a gaming streaming session and it makes my reflexes crazy sharp. Idk why gamers don't seem to know about this, it's insane. However I worry that maybe this isn't good for me in the long term seeing as it's a stimulant and that could be bad for my neurons. Also the next day I tend to have a "hangover" from it where I just feel a lot more tired than if I hadn't taken it. Thoughts?
Agmatine Sulfate is the salt form produced by combining agmatine with sulfuric acid.
I have issues processing sulfur and get sick. Are there any other versions of Agamtine I can take?
Just a quick question. I have been using various nootropics over the last two years with great success. I recently got some pramiracetam powder and put it under my tongue and now the gland under my tongue is swollen pretty large. It burned when I put it under my tongue Badly. Can somebody help me with this or is anyone experience this? Please advise thank you.
I have poor blood flow in my legs, symptoms like restless legs, tired legs are common when i'm sitting. I've red this paper that shows great results with pycnogenol, but which one of them is actually safer or most effective in long-term?
I eat mostly vegan with some eggs. Eating meat is not really an option for me let’s just call it OCD but I think the eggs have helped me.
I have significant anxiety I take
Would lysine and arginine make sense to add to this? I have already bought them but I’m wary. I have read that it can help anxiety and I know these things are usually found in animal products. I am quitting weed right now and looking for something to help me.
Trying to get my mind prepared to taper off 50 MG zoloft as well as an 8 year kratom addiction. Tyrosine and theanine seem to do me pretty well I'm thinking of adding NAC as well. I haven't found any negative interactions researching but I'm just making sure that adding NAC won't cause any strange side effects ? I take a lot of kratom over 40 gpd
Anyone had any succes dealing with paws using nootropics/supplements ? i feel like most days now ( after 8 months sober) im 60% better using b-complex,theanine,tyrosine and dlpa
This is my stack first thing in the morning:
- 100mg of Bromantane sublingually for 5 minutes;
- 400mg of EGCG;
- 3000mg of Phenylalanine;
- 1000mg of NALT;
- 1500mg of ALCAR;
- 600mg of TMG;
- 1000mg VitC;
- 1 capsule of Basic B Complex from Thorne.
But I confess that I haven't felt anything special: no stimulation, normal (de)motivation, huge binge eating, etc...
Should I increase the dose of Bromantane? Or should I increase the dose of some other compound? Or should i add other compound?
The first two times I've taken Sabroxy were phenomenonal. It was a euphoric, focused, and motivated experience.
Now it does not hit like it used to. I stopped for awhile and tried a few times with no effects. I have now tried with polygala, l-theanine, ashgawanda, and caffeine with no effects.
of the new recent attempts - One attempt was: 200mg Sabroxy, 200mg Polygala, 2g ashgawanda (youtheory), 300mg caffeine, 400mg l-theanine.
Second attempt was: 500mg sabroxy, 500mg polygala, 2g ashgawanda, 300mg caffeine, 400mg l-theanine.
I just got vignatex so I'll see how that goes. I meditate, workout, and take cold showers often. I feel more effects from meditation, or cold showers.
Any resources, advice, or products would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Just a very simple question. Just now, I have been starting to be more concerned for my brain health. I am prescribed Adderall (10mg) by my doctor and was just curious as to whether or not I can take it with Alpha Brain since I could not find any clear source on this topic. Can I take Adderall with Onnit's Alpha Brain?
Hi guys, I was making a wish list on Amazon and adding comments to some nootropics for which ones I can mix together, which ones to take hours apart, and common drugs to not mix with. Through some research, I found that we shouldn't mix alpha-gpc with bloodthinners. I was trying to find out if cat's claw is considered a blood thinner. There were no sources that were clear on this. However, I decided to ask ChatGBT (I know it's not the best source which is why I am asking for reassurance) and it basically told me that yes, cat's claw is a blood thinner. I found this to be weird because both of these are found in Alpha Brain and only lead me to more uncertainty and confusion. Is this safe to take together and is cat's claw a bloodthinner?
I've been trying to get into medical college, but I work, and this could take a long time. Anyway, I already use Bacopa monnieri and supplement with creatine and fish oil.
Are there any nootropics that make your "imagination" i.e. your ability to visualize things in your mind more clear and perhaps more immersive? Additionally what have you found great at increasing creativity too?
Edit: Here is my current stack.

I'm 29 M and I have been on experiencing some weird, unexplained symptoms after I started Elvanse - Ritalin combination. Now I switched back to Ritalin but I can still see some of the effects, all of sudden at 6 pm, I noticed those side effects:
I take the following medications:
I noticed that the effects of the increased dosage of Intuniv became more pronounced only during events that generally trigger norepinephrine, such as physical activity or stressful situations.
Has anyone had this experience? Would appreciate any insights, especially from those with similar experiences or knowledge in managing such symptoms. Thank you!
Hi , I’ve suffered from anxiety Gad and panic disorder for years but this year has been incredibly difficult for my health anxiety and pains with ocd Constantly thinking about it. I do t want to go on ssri again as they didn’t work,
I did a testosterone test recently and my results are on low side with high dhea . I recently started taking safr inside ( safron 30mg pill) and wanted to know if tongkat Ali worked well with it to boost my test and see if that’s my problem. It’s just reviews on tongkat scare me a little.
I saw a couple of posts of people saying they were going to try it but they locked off. Anyone have good experience with these for these symptoms . My cortisol and blood pressure are slightly high due to anxiety and stress also
Is it ok to stack dihexa and modafinil?
Hi everyone,
Total noob here. I'd like advice on and some help with my (crazy huge) stack. For who's interested, there' also the story below. Please pardon me for my English, i'm not a native speaker.
44 years old male. Until 6 weeks ago I had a very unhealthy, bad lifestyle. Much alcohol, fast food, constant stress from work, bad sleep etc. I was at BMI +30, while until my late 30's I was slightly underweight even. Then 6 weeks ago it happened, I crashed and ended up in hospital. Luckily after checks there is no sign of major issues (yet) and I was dismissed with fatty liver disease - which was diagnosed after a CT-scan, slightly elevetad liver set, particulary gamma GT. Amazingly, cholesterol levels were within normal range, and the rest of the blood tests were not too bad after all. Could have been far worse. However, this was a wake up call.
So I stopped drinking alcohol. No more junk food. Avoid sugar. Started eating fruit, vegetables, fibres ... just a 'normal' healthy diet. I have little of no exercise, do walk a lot, but nothing too intense (yet). A man has got to stort somewhere, no.
Also this early stage turnaround in lifestyle (+- 6 weeks now) lead to me googling all kinds of liver cleaning foods and supplements ... and frankly, I just could not stop ordering more stuff. So now - as a total noob - I probably have a bad stack. I wonder what I could keep on taking together what can I park for later or even stop, what can I cycle and what about dosing. What can I add or replace, etc.
Thanks in advance. Every input will be greatly appreciated.
By interact, I mean in an adverse way. I just received 30x125mg tablets today.
I’m hoping to learn about some things that have worked for people with social/performance/situational anxiety specifically.
Over the last few years I’ve been put on Hydroxyzine, Lexapro, Cymbalta, and Mirtazapine; Lexapro definitely helped my depression, but none helped with anxiety. Finally, after months of declining, I agreed to try Alprazolam, and it helped! And then I immediately MOVED and my new primary isn’t comfortable prescribing it, which I understand but it’s a little frustrating. Instead she put me on Buspar, which maybeee…kind of makes a small impact on my anxiety for a week or so after a dose increase.
The only other things that truly have made a difference are moderate doses of alcohol or phenibut. But of course these come with major side effects and I don’t like being drunk, plus I’m in the US so phenibut is not easy to come by. But it also goes to show that what works best for me (and I’m no expert here) tends to be compounds that act in GABA pathways.
What have y’all tried? My doc is very pro-herbal medicines so starting there is a good idea, but I’m not entirely hopeful since historically I only respond to the hard sh*t. I do currently take KSM ashwagandha but I definitely feel no difference in my reaction to social situations.
Thanks!
Hi! I have been diagnosed with OCD and anxiety recently. My doc has prescribed me paroxetine for the OCD/anxiety and tradozone for sleep issues. She told me that if I use any sort of herbal supplementation I should limit it to things that have been confirmed to be safe when taken in combination with the meds.
Before starting the meds I did use to drink a calming herbal tea before sleep, which, among other things, included lemon balm, supposedly not recommended when on SSRIs. That's the supplement I'd like to replace especially, because I just enjoy having a warm, non-caffeinated beverage at the end of the day. If it has any other benefits is almost secondary.
Thank you any input.
Its almost impossible to get adhd medication here where I live I've got access to almost everything other than adderall, ritalin and drugs that are addictive, I have access to pramipexole, modafinil, donepezil, piracetam, literally everything, what can I get that will get me into a flow state for work only and stop me from getting distracted every few seconds?
I’ve been trying to find Jujube Seed Extract from Ziziphus Jujuba.
Mostly, the only products available to the US are of the fruit, not the seed.
I have found a few that are of the seed and they look legit, but I’m unsure of their quality.
I’m curious if anyone knows of any good quality brands of Jujube Seed powder, capsules, or extract.
Thanks for any info! Hopefully I didn’t post this in the wrong place. If so, sorry.
