Frustrations with How Some Players Approach 2v2 Matches
I’ve been struggling with certain playstyles in 2v2 games (especially with duos) and wanted to gauge if others feel the same way. Am I overreacting, or are these legitimate issues? How can I better adapt to these situations? Here’s a breakdown of my frustrations:
I’m tired of teammates ignoring the basic "left-goes" kickoff principle. If you’re deviating from it, at least call it out. Too often, I’ve seen teammates quick chat to blame me when they were the one supposed to kick off. Consistency and communication are key.
This might not have a formal name, but I mean situations where the kickoff results in a stalemate with the ball staying centered.
In my opinion, if there’s no immediate threat from the opposing team after a stalemate kickoff, my teammate should rotate back to let me set up a proper shot. Dribbling forward with no boost at 10mph isn’t helping anyone.
I understand the logic behind grabbing boost as the non-kicking teammate, and I do it too—but it requires awareness. In slower-paced games, it often doesn’t justify immediately going for boost. Instead:
In 2v2, there’s rarely a reason to position directly behind me when I’m running the ball up or working the corner for a pass. Think about it: who do you think I’m passing to?
Some players act as though 2v2 is just one player on offense and the other camping in goal. This often leaves the offensive player stuck in 2v1 situations. Instead:
I’ve had teammates who seem to think speed equals effectiveness. They rush around booming the ball, jumping off walls, and generally overcommitting. This often results in:
Sometimes, less is more. Rotating effectively and playing controlled is far more valuable than aimless speed and chaos.
Just be honest with me, i am gold 2 btw in all modes 😂
In case this is useful for others, I created a Python script which will allow you to easily launch the Epic Games Launcher version of Rocket League with the following benefits:
https://github.com/LittleScripterBoy/RocketLeagueLauncher/tree/main
I know there's already a workaround for getting the Steam overlay to work which is fairly easy, so this is somewhat an alternative to that with the benefits of easily launching into alt accounts and no need for Epic Launcher.
Just follow the steps in the readme, make sure you have Python 3 installed, and you should be good.
Pls i have no idea how this happened i just logged in and this popped up. I'm really scared to lose my stuff i have so much. I'm on xbox one x
Someone randomly messaged me after a game and all they said was "Boost and chase boyz"
Chat has been muted for over 8 years and idk what they really mean by that so if anyone cares to enlighten me plz thanx
Will it ever be supported?? I was playing with my nintendo switch controller for 70 hours via pc and noticed I couldn’t do 30° degree front flips after trying to practice speed flips, because steam inputs my joystick inputs as buttons. I’m just confused why ps5 and xbox is supported for pc while pro controller isn’t while having rl on the nintendo switch.
Can someone tell why SSL players were there in the tournament? My rank is Diamond 1
It was by accident, i wanted to shoot with my first flip but it turned that way and i had the car control to keep going, which im really proud of lol. Ive been practicing mechanics a lot lately so im happy with the results xd
In the past couple years i have spent a lot of time on RL. I got like 1600 hours on the game and I remember not playing anything else and grinding for hours having so much fun and excitement from the game. Lately I had to focus on uni and I get to play like once or twice per week. I’m always watching clips on TikTok or YouTube and I’m always super excited to play some ranked. But once I load up the game I always get the sweatiest and most toxic teammates/opponents possible. I’m right between C1 and C2 and I’ve always wanted to get to GC at least once so I can feel acomplished in this game. The furthest I got was C3 like a year and a half ago. I’m thinking about dropping the game but at the same time I kinda wanna play more everytime I get the chance. I took a 3 month break during summer and once I got back it was fun for 3 weeks getting my mechs back but ever since then im stuck in this cycle of loading up the game happy to play and turning it off after a couple games because of people tryharding and chasing demos 24/7. I dont remember champ ever being this sweaty. All the games feel so intense and once I’m not on my best game I just don’t find playing fun. Has anyone had the same experience and if so did you find a way to enjoy the game or dropped it?
I finally upgraded to a PS5 any immediately started losing games. I dropped from D1 to P1, not only whiffing on the ball, but on boost too. I was using a new controller before so I don’t think stick drift is a big part of it. Same settings and controls. Is there anything people have noticed when making that switch that I can focus on, or do I just suck?
Whenever i try to log in i’m hit with this message and every game mode is unavailable , im on pc and this has just randomly started happening. any help would be appreciated.
My whole account got reset, i lost all my items, my rank and all my levels. I'm sure this is my right account because when i look at the stats it still says the right amount of games played etc. How do i get all of the items back?
This damn game keeping freezing or crashing on my Xbox one S and no matter what I try it doesn't fix...wtf is epic doing to this poor game?
Im a c2 solo q 2s player with 1700hrs on steam, but I decided to grind 1s for once.
Playing a plat 3 game and destroyed a yapper 11-5, and he was saying how im “such a bad smurf for losing to a plat in the first half of the match” and how im “so bad for 4k hours.”
I checked RL tracker on TRN but no sign of total time played and wouldn’t doubt if im actually closer to 4k with all my legacy ps4 hours.
So how tf did that guy track my hours? Or was he just a yapper?
Hello guys, I come heure because I think this season in 2s Champ 2 is fucked. Let me explain, that's the 3rd season I'm C2 and that's the first time I saw too much previous season GC in my games, I'm okay at the begining of the season (1st week and a little bit at the 2nd) but it still recurrent as the 3 first days... What happen ? I alway saw more toxic players than usual, have you guys notice it too ? Is that the same for other ranks ?
What is that movement? I have never seen a car move down like that with a flip? What did I do. I’m confused, also it doesn’t look like a stall so it does have me stunned.
There‘s tons of information about this but somehow it‘s never discussed what it‘s supposed to feel like and what to think about.
Example Situation: I dribble the ball off the wall and start air rolling left. My car is pointing towards the goal and is upside down.
Do I make split second decision to decide moving the stick to bottom left because of that? Do I wait for the car to spin to the correct position to make some adjustment? Do I just abort because there is mo way to save this dribble? Do I just spam something that might work when you learned this for 500h but I have no idea why it works? (I suspect it‘s this one but I hope it isn‘t)
I can air roll to the ball if my trajectory is already perfectly towards the ball. But making adjustments is a mystery to me and I haven‘t found any good sources about what to focus on yet. Just learning by doing doesn‘t apply with this I think because it‘s so confusing with the continuous spinning.
After months of teetering between mid gold and plat 1 the RNG gods have blessed me with great teammates and solid matches. It's finally over (I hope)
