There's so much you can do with it, you can flick to the side, directly in front, fake, go back to a dribble, pop it up again, etc. You also get a lot of power from the flick itself when done even half decently. So shouldn't it be one of the more used flick? Or is rocket league just a game of clips now?
25:31 8 deaths on leth's medieval rings. When I do training packs or freeplay however it's awful, I can't score anything with DAR. Basically I'm mor comfortable moving around flying and doing rings maps with DAR, but when it comes to hitting the ball I'm way more accurate and consistent without DAR. Should I continue grinding rings, spam training packs or do some freeplay drills you want to suggest?
I have this scenario happen in my games very often https://www.twitch.tv/frostyyrl_/clip/DrabIncredulousFungusRitzMitz-rBWxrvL6mRunvvE9 not my clip but just an example
I'm second man and my teammate takes a 50 or a shot and the ball bounces out to mid or out to a corner. Since I'm second man and I'm usually sitting on high boost amount and I can be first to the ball as it rolls away from everyone. But I have a hard time turning the play into a possession play or an air dribble up wall and I usually struggle to get control of it. So usually I just end up taking a 50 or just wuss out and turn back toward my net
Are you aware of any packs that train an awkward bounce like this into middle or into a corner. Obviously one way is just pass the pall to myself in free play. I have a 500 hours and I'm diamond and this is the one aspect of my game I really struggle with. Obviously there is also the advice of "just play more" but I'm looking for some focused training
Apparently it's not too late to improve! The training must be paying off
if you have possession somewhere around midfield, and both opponents in front, is better to wait for a challenge and flick, or just go for a ground to air dribble ? (assuming you mastered both)
I've been playing this game for a long time, around 2020, i quit in 2022 and came back this year.
I had a rough start when i came back, i tilted all the way down to plat 1 but managed to get to d1 after a week or 2, i stayed there for a while until i discovered this subreddit, i posted a replay 2 months ago and got a lot of tips.
I applied them.
I got better.
Fast forward to now, i got to C2 after a lot of playing, but today and yesterday have been the worst days ive ever had in this game, i dropped 120 mmr and i slowly started raging, i tried to keep my composure but i just couldnt.
I yelled.
I punched my desk till my hands were in pain.
I just couldnt accept it, ik you all will say "its just a game" and to not take it so seriously but i just felt at that moment a rage ive never felt to that extent.
Now i look at myself and realize, what have i become?
Why am i doing this to myself?
This is a rocket league learning subreddit so i just want to ask this question.
How do i stop?
I love this game but i just get so tilted sometimes, wether it be because of rocket league or some other thing going on in my life.
How do i improve this side of me that this game brings out?
Thats all i want to know, if you take the time to read all this i appreciate you more than you know, that is all i wanted to say, thank you.
Aside from the obvious "hit the ball more and better" does anyone have tips on how I can work together with my son better? He loves the game but is still young and gets excited touch the ball or nervous around the net under pressure.
Gameplay is from my POV.
If anyone has any tips for improving my reset setups off the wall I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

I've recently been playing Rocket League online with my 8 year old nephew. He's really into the game and been hitting me up every night to play.
Last time I was on vacation with him I gave him some tips and he actually remembered them. For a school project he wrote a book about Rocket League and actually had a page dedicated to playing back post when defending the goal, which was one of the tips I gave them.
I want to send him tutorials on YouTube for him to watch to get better, but his parents do not allow him to go on YouTube and he only has access to YouTube Kids (which being a parent myself I understand).
Are there any Rocket League content creators on YouTube Kids that someone could recommend? Also open to any alternatives or suggestions. Thanks!
D2-D3 solo queuer here. Among other things, a big issue I notice I have is not being able to hold ball possession well. Like if the ball is coming at net and I'm turned too far toward the center field, but I can make the save. I end up just bopping it back out to center or smashing it with a flip back to center.
Similar when ball is being fought over in the corner, if it flies toward me, how do I position my car to get the ball to stop nearly in front of me to gain momentum and keep possession instead of playing ping pong?
Training packs/workshop maps, anything is greatly appreciated
Hello im Looking for someone to play against. Im Gold- plat and i want to play against diamonds or higher. My benefit is that i learn from playing against you. YOUR benefit is that you can practice your mechanics on me.(im not bad in defend)
I will be playing doubles, and then there will always be something that makes me slightly upset and thus off my potential best.
I have a free possession with 2 players to beat and my teammate takes a shot against 2 defenders, I am annoyed. I see my teammate move upfield when the opponent is blocking any potential hard clears, I am annoyed. My teammate gets beat to a free ball because they spin the entire aerial, I get annoyed. Teammate fully commits on a challenge as last man, I get annoyed. Teammate uses 80 boost to air dribble the ball 1/4 of the field, I'm annoyed.
My point isn't the specifics of these scenarios, just that they happen often enough to be significant. These people are just playing the game. And I'm guilty of doing things that can annoy my teammate too(waiting in net, shadowing as 1st man, 2 goal miss off the crossbar, not looking for demos, looking for too many demos, etc etc)
Obviously it's not healthy to fixate on these patterns and be annoyed by them. A better played would just shrug them off or not even perceive that they happen in the first place. But, like, how do I become this better player? I really feel like mental is what's holding me back. Things like not taking the game seriously and not caring about rank don't seem to work. Limiting the number of games I play doesn't work. I've played other competitive games just fine without this problem. And it's not like I don't have fun playing, otherwise I wouldn't be playing.
Can anyone relate to what I am saying, and do you have any tips/strategies for dealing with these unproductive thoughts? I realize this is more of a psychology question than a specifically rocket league one, but I am interested to hear what people on this subreddit have to say.
for those who think being Really hardstuck is impossible and you'll improve no matter what.
Ever seen a video of a gold with 10k hours? Well if not - go watch it, and if you did - that's the proof that if you Just play - no, its likely you're not improving.
The advice of "just play, you're making incremental progress no matter what and you'll rank up eventually" is just not it, and so yes, it is absolutely possible to be stuck in a rank forever just because you have a bad mindset of your games. Psychology plays a much higher role in rocket league than you'd think, and in some cases thats the thing you need to change is - the way you think about the game in its essence, and not How or What you do in the game.
That's about it, hope this is helpful
Hello i am currently playing on 1.5 sensitivity for both ground and air. Usually played 1.2 both. I was and still am on a 0.10 deadzone because that feels best for my cancels and stuff.
Anyways the reason i have switchted from 1.2 to 1.5 is that i regularly had (multiple) days where i just felt like i couldn't move my car fast in the air or turn quick on the ground. My issue is that since i have switched about 2 month ago (tried everything between 1.2 and 1.5 before that) i can't get my previous consistency back.
Was that just placebo or are there things the car can't do with low sens/high deadzone?
Usually my routine goes like this:
- I warm up in free play for 5 mins
- Play 3-4 ranked 2v2 games
- Do some training packs/training routines
- Then proceed to play 1v1 for the rest of the session (sometimes i'd do a bit more training in between if I didnt finish it earlier)
But how is my rank? and how much have I been ranking up?
I started doing this routine around 2-3 weeks ago, back then, I would mainly just play 2s and my rank was around plat 1-2. But ever since I started doing this, everytime I played 2s, I'd stay the same rank, or win most of my games, which resulted in me getting to diamond yesterday.
BUT, after I hit diamond in my first 3 games of the day, I decided I would just play more 2s, which resulted in me deranking all the way to plat 3 div 2. Meanwhile I played only 4 games of 1v1, winning 3 of them.
Does this prove that the best way to rank up, is to just play less ranked, maybe only when you're feeling good? It seemed to work with 2v2, but I dont know about 1v1. And the funny thing is, is that I have been stuck in plat 1 in 1v1 for a month now.
I will now change my routine a bit to add more training, less ranked 1v1, and if I do want to play matches, I will play casual instead. What are your guys' opinions?
I'll cut to the chase, I've been trying to learn how to actually do follow in the kick off as 2nd man (cheating to the ball/not going for boost). I've looked everywhere but I didn't find anything so I came here seeking help as it seems to be a good place to start.
Any tips or info is greatly apreciated
So for the past 2 years I’ve been playing on and off and I’ve been quite sorrow by the fact that is somehow can’t get better. I’ve tried training packs played in free play for a while and I’ve kept on playing 2v2s and tournaments but I just still can’t get better. Any advice?
I'm trying to get better on high off the wall challenges vs opponents is there a training pack where the ball is coming at you high off the wall with a very in game feel? thanks.
Anyone in Gold 2-Plat 1
Hey I know this isnt an important skill to learn really, but I'm just looking for advice on horse dashing. Here is a clip of some attempts at it. I have a hard time keeping it going, if I even get it going at all. I'm just curious if I'm doing something fundamentally wrong here, or if its just a matter of "spend the rest of your waking life practicing" lol
So basically I got to plat 3 in 1s and just lost 10-3 to a guy spamming speedflip kickoffs, so now I want to learn speedflip, I know I dont have to but I just want to be able to do it cuz why not. I can do a speedflip 3 or 4 times out 10 and it's very rarely a well executed one. So what should I do ? Just spam musty training pack and freeplay until it just clicks ?
