Was this made clear in the show? Obviously spinels didnt usually use them, where did she get it? What type of gem usually used them? When were they used? I dont remember if it was answered it the movie or not hlp pls

I know this is probably a dumb question, but after watching the episode “Maximum Capacity”, I started thinking about this.

Considering how he feels about shapeshifting (especially when it comes to Rose), I started wondering how he’d react if he learned about Rose & Pink Diamond being the same person.

Maybe this was revealed in an episode of SU, SU:F, on any of Rebecca Sugar’s social media accounts, or if they just didn’t tell him because…well, I mean, how akward would it be if the Crystal Gems told Greg that his girlfriend was a part of some rock woman royalty who faked her own shattering, and got a bunch of Rose Quartzes bubbled for thousands of years?

I've been rewatching Steven Universe the last couple months and I'm 13 episodes into Future now (it's my second time watching Future specifically) and I really don't get people's issue with it

As the title suggests, I really dont understand why Rose gets so much flack throughout the series.

First of all, her story is being told backwards. Steven learns about all of the good things she did as Rose before learning of all of the things she did while she was Pink Diamond. This DEFINITELY would affect how he sees her because rather than building onto her character, the form in which her story is told is destroying the foundation Steven had in regards to his mom.

Secondly, despite having many flashbacks and short scenes of her experience as both Rose and Pink, we don't really have much information about what SHE thinks and how she feels. All we get to hear is how her actions affected other people, but Rose at this point is dead and cannot defend or speak for herself. I feel like an important part of Rose's story that is often overlooked is that she had very low self esteem. I believe another post here talks about this very point, that she genuinely believed that nobody would miss her if she was gone because that's how she was made to feel. She was born a diamond whose role was to lead, and her own family neglected her and abused her, and did not ever believe for a second that she would be ready to lead. Rose suffered ALONE, came up with resolutions to her problems and created a way to relinquish her of her life as a diamond, and essentially left her abusers all on her own. Rose didnt expect anybody to rely on her despite being the leader of the crystal gems, she genuinely felt like she was following them as they were the unique ones in her eyes, and she didn't expect Spinel to stay waiting for her for thousands of years, either, despite Spinel being made to follow her commands.

Thirdly, I feel like after a while, crewniverse gave up trying to portray her as a nuanced character and just made her a scapegoat for everything the diamonds did. It was the diamonds who corrupted all of the gems on earth. It was the diamonds who created the zoo. It was the diamonds colonizing and destroying galaxies. Sure, Rose has her part to play in their decision to do any of this, but who could have honestly expected this to happen? Rose must have believed they wouldn't retaliate this badly, and to her, this must've been a confirmation that the diamonds would never change their ways, not even for her. They destroyed so many gems, including those in their own courts without a single care.

My fourth and last point, had Rose not done anything there would be no earth. No crystal gems, no humans, no Steven. The diamonds were never going to listen to her to resolve this amicably. Honestly at some point through the series, everyone seems so ungrateful for the fact that they're alive because of her and her sacrifice. Despite everything, even if she wasnt perfect, even if how it was done was not perfect, she still gave the crystal gems a home. She gave Steven his life. Just for those same people to then treat her like a problem later on. I'm not saying that nobody should be upset at her, if I was in anybody's shoes I'd be angry at Rose, too. But after some point she just became something everyone wanted to avoid, rather than a nuanced person that they can accept the good and the bad of.

As an Aroace person, it feels like the song is heavily implying that my sexual orientation is somehow “lesser” than other peoples. I know that Ruby and Sapphire are both happier as Garnet, but the whole song is basically “we are two people in a relationship, and thus inherently better than you, a single person who is not in a relationship” and I feel kinda offended.

Then there's others who not only draw her with certain exaggerated.... features, let's say.

But they give her the most HORRIBLE personality. I'm just saying: If you expect me to believe she'd cheat on Steven with his Dad or Kevin, then you need your head examined.....

But yeah: Connie would be HORRIFIED if she saw the art people make of her nowadays.....

Basically just that, any episode you feel like it’s ideas and themes could’ve been more thoroughly explored if given a bigger runtime?

I don't know what incentived me to make this but I don't regret it in the slightest (Aside from maybe the coloring with some parts)

I was rewatching “Onion Friend” and I realised Amethyst genuinely acted like it felt like forever since she had seen Vidalia, as well as she expressed to have a sense of passing time similar to a human. Now, this wouldn’t be an issue if it weren’t for her being a gem. Gems live basically forever if they don’t get shattered, as well as she specifically has been around for thousands of years, so wouldn’t say 10 or so years seem like a few minutes to her?
