Hello hello 👋🏼 I am trying to go raw vegan, for my health. I was already vegan prior, but ate a lot of processed vegan foods. I believe raw vegan is best for me. I eat raw the whole day and then by the end of the day I slip up. I am terribly upset with myself every time this happens! Maybe I am not eating enough??? I eat a large fruit salad and handful of nuts during my work bread, and a fruit smoothie after work, but still can’t break my food addiction to salt, carbs etc etc! 😣😖
I think I need to do some more in-depth research of what raw veganism is, how to prepare delicious foods and what it means to be raw vegan. Any good links for someone just starting??? Thanks!❤️❤️❤️
I eat them as they are.... mostly as snacks. I also freeze a few kilos of peas when they are fresh and cheap to eat them out os season. Looking for more ways to eat them. Any suggestions would be good. Thanks in advance 😊
I'm interested in learning more about raw vegan (vegan 10 years) and I noticed a lot of posts here saying they cant have soy milk because its cooked but why not just sprout it then blend it to make soymilk? I know sprouting chickpeas allows you turn it directly into hummus raw but is there something in soy that would stop people from doing that? or is it simply because most people haven't thought of it? and if not, have you tried it?
Anyone have thoughts? I’ve always enjoyed heirloom tomatoes ketchup hot sauce and so on, very much Since going raw I’ve felt off about nightshades energetically Similar to how I and many people I’ve heard feel about mushrooms, where it’s not that it tastes bad but just feels ..off so I avoid. But the nightshades aren’t to that extent to me. I will still eat it in gourmet things but am just curious if anyone’s had a similar experience
I’m 5”2 120 lb sedentary. It’s been hard to get more protein unless I eat some tofu or something
Hey community! I’ve been struggling a bit as the weather is getting colder and wetter, and fruit supply is diminishing. I’m down to apples, bananas, and dates as the only reliable fruit right now.
Really craving some cooked foods, but my digestion does not tolerate most things well. I had a small sweet potato last night, and it’s still sitting in my stomach causing grief.
Thinking about trying some grains, or possibly some beans. Would love to find something to eat with a huge salad to help with some cravings, and not making me feel heavy, bloated, and full of regret.
What do you all lean on when times are tough?
Gratitude
does eating chick pea garbanzo beans have any major effects after being raw for about a year. I know eating cooked food is clearly going to have an effect, but eating processed foods after being mainly raw, will that have any major effects? no plans on reintroducing the foods back my diet, but I'd like to know if eating chickpea pasta will have any major effects on me thanks.
Hi everyone, I am at the start of my raw journey, still transitioning atm. I always read with pleasure what and how y'all eat and how food makes you feel and I've noticed that many of you underline being low fat or suggest to others to be low fat. What's the reason for this? I thought nuts and seeds were crucial for protein and calories, also in my opinion fat fruits (avocado, coconut, olives) and nuts (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios) are some of the most delicious things in this world. I must say I'm doing some experiments by playing with my macros and it does seem that decreasing fats makes my symptoms better (gut symptoms), but l can't tell why. Looking forward to hear something about fats from y'all who are more expert than me!
So I’ve been trying to incorporate more raw foods into my lifestyle. So this is my lunch today for work. I have two cucumbers spray on with with some cayenne pepper. Some seeded, grapes, some cantaloupe, and some jumbo blueberries. I actually can’t wait to eat this. I just bought a cold pressed slow, masticating juicer and it’s supposed to be here on Thursday. I cannot wait to go on my juice cleanse.
Hello all, I’ve been on a high raw and fully raw journey for the past nearly 4 years. The past 2 years have been focused detox (juice fast, mono grape fasts, herbs, etc.) and then the past 9 months I’ve been fully raw, very low fat (maybe 1 avo a week and 2 T hemp seeds per week give or take).
I’ve still been dealing with some symptoms. I am wondering if anyone else has experience with them.
I work in a restaurant and I’m on my feet for all of the day 4 days per week. I feel fine once I’m at work and moving, but then when I get home and lay down and then get up again, it’s like I can barely walk. My feet are so sore and painful and my knees ache.
I feel like I’m 70 years old when I’m actually 32 years old! I drink on average 80 oz of distilled water per day.
Any thoughts?
I was on juice fast for few days but this costs a lot. I’m transitioning to raw but how many green juice I should be drinking ? During fast I was drinking like 5-6 bottles a day. Once I’m on raw diet and no more fasting 1-2 bottle a day enough?
Despite cravings, my body feels best eating tons of hydrating fruits, but I’ve heard a lot more talk from long-term raw vegans that it’s not sustainable or that they lost too much muscle mass. It makes sense to me that this is the most natural way to eat, so I wanted to see if there are other long-term raw vegans outside of fully raw Kristina, raw Teresa, etc. Because most that got famous in a raw lifestyle are now high raw. Thanks in advance! Just trying to find a balance and make the best choice that’s sustainable and healthy.
I've been vegan since 2000 and rawvegan since about 2007.
Hello!
My name is Kristi Nielson and I’m a research student at Lancaster University. I am posting here to invite eligible participants to be involved in a study I’m conducting on orthorexia nervosa (ON) or obsessive healthy eating. Orthorexia is defined here as an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating, to the point where it negatively impacted someone's life (e.g., emotionally, physically, socially, etc.). Specifically, I am interested in the lived experience of ON among individuals who identify as men that live in the U.S. The purpose of my research is to explore what men believe led to their experience with orthorexia, as well as what they think currently maintains it.
You’re eligible if:
· You identify with orthorexia nervosa or obsessive healthy eating, in which this phenomenon has negatively impacted your life (e.g., physically, emotionally, socially)
· You identify as a man
· You are > 18 years old
· You reside in the U.S.
· You are able to speak English
What is being asked of you? If you meet the above criteria and want to participate, you will be asked to partake in an online interview with me for approximately 60 minutes.
Additionally, if you know anyone who may be interested in taking part in this study, please feel free to pass along my email (k.nielson@lancaster.ac.uk).
For more information, please contact me directly at k.nielson@lancaster.ac.uk. Please DO NOT reply directly to this forum post.
Thank you!
I'm not at 100% raw, but most of my meals are. One thing I absolutely love eating raw is raw spinach. So, just looking for more ways to eat it from the community. Do you take it? If so, what's your preferred way of eating it? And anything else you might like to add...all suggestions are ok. Thanks in advance 😊
So far I've had a lot of ups and downs feeling very fatigued one hour and then a little bit of energy the next. My head right now is killing me. Is there anything that can help with this? I've been drinking lots of lemon water too to try and flush out whatever I'm cleansing but not sure if I'm overdoing it with the lemon.
I think I am scared of the side effects and detoxing. I would love to do a juice fast before going raw but is that the same results as just going raw cold Turkey? Will I still lose weight fast? Can I do a juice fast while working 8 hours in office? So many questions.. also anyone apart of Raw Vegan Rising with Shane Sterling? Is that a good group?
This is what I typically eat in a day. I supplement B12 and Vitamin D. 40 yo very active male. I feel and look like I did when I was in my mid 20's training for a special operations course.
My concerns are too much fat and now, after coming to Reddit, too much folate.
I still need to do some more of my own research, but I don't think I'm asking the right questions or more likely, not enough questions.
How much is too much plant based fat? Is this really a thing?
Why is too much plant based fat bad for you?
I haven't even started on folate.
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Can you suggest some high fat and some high protein vegan foods.
Thanks
PS : Focus more on high fat. And give recommendations other than dry fruits.
hey, i’ve been super de duper interested in raw lifestyle as well as plant based but my blood type is o negative and everyone is saying it’s going to make me sick? i have constipation and gas cramps/bloating often! i just want to eat more plants.. people are saying i should be eating red meat and i don’t want to… any advice would help. i do understand people are not dieticians so advice would help. thanks ..
I don’t do well with carbs…. If you doing low carb, what are you eating ?
Just into raw. Thinking about selling the stand mixer to make some money to buy a new Vitamix, but I'm not sure if I'll miss it. Are there any recipes you use a stand mixer for? Maybe some raw dessert I didn't think of? Cream of some sort? Anything raw that can't be made in a Vitamix?
