So yeah the talk about downtown businesses and the summer nights got me thinking about Nexus smart pay. Wondering who remembers that? Was anyone else signed up for that? I loved that and I was really sad when that went away. It was one of the times when I'm like. Wow! That could have made jobs and all this other stuff put our city on the map.
So for people that moved here after 2016 I believe or didn't know about it. Nexus Smart Pay was a fingerprint payment system that was launched from the School of mines and lasted from like 2012 to 2016 I believe. I'm not sure if you can find much about it online anymore. But it was amazing. You could link your bank account to your fingerprint and Pay with your finger print just like a debit card.
And there was security up the wazoo with this thing. The thing had UV sensors and pulse sensors and stuff like that. It registered the hemoglobin through these sensors.
So yeah I don't know. Just kind of reminiscing. Anyone got any stories about it?
I went 6 months without carrying a wallet just using that payment service here in rapid City. And this was before I had a smartphone that I could tap and pay.
I found it very insulting that the city council was so viscerally disgusted by the fact that the summer nights issue went public. The council should look bad for acting bad.
I heard we were getting one and haven’t heard much since. Now packages say out for delivery in box elder. Where is the warehouse?
I have map that shows Colonial Pine Hills near RC but doesn’t show specifics. Where is at? What is there?

Are there any good hand wash car wash places in or around town?
I see tons of self serve car washes but I haven’t been able to find a full service car wash.
Yes, the collection was recently added to most platforms, but even with a joystick at home, nothing really catches the feeling of playing on an arcade cabinet after sliding a quarter in.
Not just Marvel vs Capcom either...there were many other Capcom fighting games that they had under one hood at Press Start.
Oh well. I suppose they had their reasons.
Happened around 8pm last night. Would see anywhere from 2-5 of these in the sky. All would float up and disappear in the same spot. Don't think it was meteors as they were going to slow and did not have a tail. Anyone else notice these? I'm in the Valley and these looked like they were over somewhere in the west side.
My lease requires me to get my carpets professionally cleaned upon move out. Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap company in town?
We took excellent care and I own a carpet cleaner but it still needs professional so I’m trying to save money here.
New to the area looking to find a new bank. Since my bank I’m currently using is strictly online only no physical location.
US Forest Service posted that the seasonal gates and recreations sites that are not open through the winter in Blackhills National Forest will be closed Monday, Dec 16. They're closed to provide seasonal refuge for wildlife and natural resources protection and public safety.
Seasonally closed roads and trails are identified on the current Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM), www.fs.usda.gov/details/blackhills/maps-pub
Snowmobile trails are open from Dec 15 to March 31 annually. No wheeled vehicles on those trails except one small segment near Bill Hill trails area that allows over snow bicycles.
They're asking that people not park in front of any closed gates because Forest Service needs access.
For a list of campgrounds open during winter, check www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE, or just go to the main site and search for the list.
I’m probably the only Panthers fan in South Dakota, wondering if there’s anywhere with enough games going on to be playing a Panthers game
Heard high recommendations from Joes and Kellys
Does anyone have any experience with JTS Properties, specifically with the new enchanted pines aparements on the southeast side of town? Got the application today then remembered this thread. Girlfriend and I planning on moving to rapid in January from eastern SD.
Also if anyone has any job recommendations, currently I drive lowboy hauling heavy equipment/oversized for a construction company. Have 5 years of experience in heavy equipment/truck driving- side dump, double side dump, tanker/hazmat, end dump, lowboy etc. Heavy equipment- asphalt milling, blade, dozer, excavator, loader and smaller equipment- roller, skid loader etc Some experience with Gps
I have been looking at a few places but looking at all opportunities.
Looking for various contractors to work on residential houses… anyone have any trusted guys?
Looking for a hint on where in the hills holds keeper bluegill that can be caught through the ice. Definitely not looking for your secret fishing spot. Unless you want to share it 😉
Hi guys,
I know this is a weird request. I am working on an archival project, to rip all 10 of the "Universal Family Favorites" DVDs - these are television edits that are also cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio and burned to a DVD-R disc.
I know it's weird, but sometimes there are some funny edits in these, and this series of 10 movies were officially released by Universal - 9 of the 10 can be purchased by Amazon right now, in fact.
But the last one, "Bring It On", seems to be unavailable everywhere. You can see the Amazon listing here showing it's unavailable.
When I google the UPC code (025192124952), there are two US libraries that seem to own a copy, one of them being Rapid City.
See catalog link here
I live in Michigan, so this doesn't help me any, but if any of you has a working optical drive in your computer and can check this disc out (or just take a laptop to the branch and sit there with it, lol) I can provide some instructions in DM and a link to upload the file. It'll be around 4GB, I ripped the other 9.
Planning to put all 10 on the Internet Archive once I have them. I scanned the cover artwork and disc of the 9 other ones too, but I assume this library put stickers all over their copy, so that might not be possible for the 10th.
Thanks in advance
PS - if any DVD collectors want the list of UPCs for the 10, I've got a list, just let me know.
Edit: Found the owner!
Hey, as usual, found something out of place here. Wondering if anyone is missing an electric scooter? Can you tell me what brand it is and/or the model of you are and I'll let you know where it is.
FYI, I'm terrible about checking back on here, so if you think it's yours, text or call 605-858-8161.
Lyft and Uber drivers out there. Is it easy to get a ride to the airport on a Sunday morning at 5:30AM-6:00 AM? Southwest part of town off Catron. Normally our flights are later in the day but have an early one on the 22nd. Thanks
Where and what is there to do for a nightlife around here? Drinking, dancing or whatever you can think of that might resemble a nightlife.
Traveling workers looking in rapid city for a place to rent/lease the next few years. Money is good, just needing a nice place as we work long hours 6 days a week. Thanks in advance.
I think its dead
Found what events are happening around Rapid City here this coming week and weekend. Note that this may not be everything but at least its a starting list. Let me know if I should maybe try to do another one for next week

Granted, it's not the coldest that Antarctica will get for now.
As I work outdoors for a living and thought that it was cold, I know there are places elsewhere in the world that would say "hold my beer".
Come to our FREE comedy night this Thursday! 😃🙌🏽

Hello, I have to move from Denver to SD for work in January and split my time between Rapid City and Spearfish. What city would you recommend living in and why? This is just for a few months. I am in my 20s, so nightlife is of importance to me.
Hi, Any experienced framers available ASAP for 2-3 hours, maybe less, for tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Preferably tonight…
Need help with:
I have the two LVLs, studs, circular saw & air compressor but no nail gun. I can buy one but don’t want to for this one last home project.
Please DM me and tell me about your experience.
Cash
TIA
Ive been here for about 2 months now and im running out of new things todo looking for suggestions. I want to get into ice skating since i lived in the south but im not sure where to go thats open most the week/weekend since i work Mon-Fri.
I have accumulated a few items over the years that I absolutely loved when they were in good condition, but that wore out in certain spots over the years. For example, a wonderful wool sweater that that I kept in almost perfect condition, except for the elbows that I wore completely through. I'm hoping that there is a local seamster that has the skills to do this kind of repair well. Any recommendations for places to go?
