This subreddit is a space to discuss anti-assimilationist queer issues and radical perspectives gender, sexuality, and intersectionality of oppression. If you feel content is too radical or challenging to be received well on other queer subreddits, this is the place for you!

Posting Guidelines:

  • Do not post content or comments that are sexist, racist, transphobic, queerphobic, transmisogynistc, ableist, classist, ageist, or otherwise perpetuate or perpetrate oppression. Such comments are subject to removal, and repeat offenders are subject to banning.

  • Please refrain from interacting in a condescending or personally belittling way. As queer people in the struggle, we must struggle with one another. This means struggling with patience, kindness, and understanding, and not acting out the internalized violence that oppressed people deal with on one another. If you feel that a comment has violated the previous guideline, please report it.

  • Please use trigger warnings and content warnings where appropriate.

  • To prevent our space from devolving into a shallow circlejerk, please refrain from posting things just to generate delicious karma. We get it; there are bigger fish out there than marriage, HRC is the face of glitter-industrial complex, Dan Savage is transphobic. The ideal post is thought-provoking and prompts engagement and exploration.

Since I started carrying mace and a taser, I can finally use public restrooms again in peace.

I am trans masc and intersex. People are never sure if I’m a trans man, trans woman, a gay man, a gay woman, “grrr woke blue haired SJW I’m totally not sexually fixated on”, or a teenager. And I never know how I’m being perceived either.

It’s led to quite a few scary situations and more than a couple of confrontations.

I live in Shitsville, Georgia — a notoriously conservative exurb of Atlanta.

We have Nazi gangs active here in the northern part of the state, and the KKK still runs many smalltowns down in the southernmost part.

The nearer to Florida or Tennessee, the worse.

I skip most public bathrooms as a trans person in 2024. The rest I’ve had my partner escort me to the door

I’ve been followed and creeped on in public places.

So. Having a strap in my current household would not be safe. I’d be a damn idiot for it.

But the one thing I could justify here were less-lethal weapons.

What I am now concealed-carrying is a relatively high-voltage taser. And ofc some scouting mace for good measure.

I have been practicing the use of both outside. Closest I can get to training.

Now I have no problem using the restroom with confidence.

And you can too!

HELP: Collective liberation through a queer lens

I’ve just started a drag/educational project on Instagram, drawing comparisons between allies, accomplices and saviors in the commitment towards collective liberation. Drag against assimilation, no pride without black liberation, are amongst some of the themes grounding the project, amongst others.

I’d appreciate everyone’s feedback and sharing in hopes of mobilizing others during these bleak times:

Why are so many self-described socialists completely willing to compromise on (if not outrightly hostile to) social issues?

Forgive my tone if it sounds uncouth — I’m neurodivergent and really asking.

Does this not seem a glaring omission to leave social and sexual inequality/labor out?

Because to me, class reductionism at least LOOKS LIKE leaving out a whole half of the equation to make the wrong answer work — that is: to stay within one’s own biases.

Am I wrong? Or nah? Surely, the self styled “traditionalist” communists (for instance) are not all simply edgy and young?

I’m not trying to start beef or be snarky, I’m seriously really asking, mods.

What’s going on with apologia for even extremely misogynist RIGHT authoritarians i.e. Putin?

I have my suspicions about what’s going on both internally and in the lives of those which I described.

Queer liberation vs assimilation

Malcolm X was right, it's easier to keep under the thumb the groups who are oppressed when they assimilate and try to buy into the system created by their oppressors rather than opt out and refuse to play by their rules. We settle for crumbs cishets will give us from their tabletop rather than fight and take what is ours, we play by their rules hoping they will give us what we want but it will always be when they want to give it to us and how much they allow us to have. The problem is too many of us forget we rioted in Compton Cafeteria, Stonewall to get what we wanted, when we protested during the HIV/AIDS epidemic no one cared. We don't get anywhere that way.

Feel like I’m going crazy in r/AskGayBros

The amount of people regurgitating Zionist and colonialist propaganda there is insane. There’s just open racism and imperialist attitudes there and any time you call someone out for pinkwashing a literal genocide, you get downvoting to hell with people saying “You know they want to kill your right?”

Goddam I hate being a queer Jew rn. So fucking isolating…

Hi to all queer drug users/ advocates: I made a subreddit r/DrugsForQueers about 2 years ago and it's very inactive. Regular drug subreddits like r/drugs are not safe spaces for queer drug users. Let's build an amazing space for us, if interested, please join!! ❤️ I posted this same post a year ago

[I made this same exact post about a year ago. The sub is still very inactive and I feel it's important for us to have a safe space. I have no mod experience at all so I don't know how to grow the sub. Anyway, just wanted to post this again so more people join. Scroll down through all the posts and read comments. Even super old posts]

Regular drug subreddits are not safe spaces for queer people:

-Talks of meth making people gay. And making fun of it.

-Posts about feeling trans/questioning gender under the influence of LSD get made fun of.

-Posts about boofing/booty bumping getting made fun of.

The list goes on and on. There is a general air of queer phobia in popular drug subreddits. So I decided to make a subreddit for us!

I made the sub r/drugsforqueers about a [2] year ago and it still hasn't really taken off. We have [500] members and could make a great niche community.

All are welcome. ALL. Straight folk/allies included. Please come join if you are a queer person who uses drugs or just someone respectfully interested in this kind of stuff.

And while you're at it, read "Drug Use for Grownups" by Dr. Carl Hart

Peace y'all!!

Edit: please at least scroll through the subreddit and read some of the posts. Most of them were made by me unfortunately lol but there are some great comments on my posts. The posts submitted by other people are amazing and thought-provoking.

I would love for more queer drug users to know about this sub AND make posts, so please share with your friends!! Have a great day my radical queers ❤️❤️

Amazing documentary "The Stroll" on HBO Max. It's a documentary about the (mainly houseless) trans sex worker community in the 1980s. This is is a must watch. If you've seen it, what did you think?

Queer leftist/anarchist podcasts?

Really tired of listening to cis white guys jerk themselves off over theory. Id love to get some actual opportunities/accounts of praxis from queer voices in my ears, or barring that, to at least listen to some queer/trans/bipoc people jerk themselves off over theory instead.

Any recommendations?

Social construction of sexuality?

Hey,

so I recently stumbled upon an Instagram post that made me think about this particular subject more, and I am really interested to hear some perspectives on this. I didn't even know where to post this, but I figured this might be the place where I'd hear some good reading recommendations and opinions.

The basic gist of the post was this, using myself as an example:

I am gay, I like men, though I am agender. What if I stumbled upon a person who is my type but it turns out they aren't a man at all, but a woman or a genderfluid person for example. Would my attraction completely vanish just because of how they label their gender?

I find it hard to put it into words what I am trying to say, and I unfortunately can't find the post anymore. I've never been in a scenario like this, but at first glance it would seem silly to just brush off a person just because their gender doesn't align with my orientation, even though everything else was fine.

I was also in love with someone and they told me that they wished to be a woman when they were a child (though they identify as cis as of now, not that you think I'm misgendering them), and that got me thinking if I'd still love them even if they came out, and I'm very certain I still would.

I'm open to anything, and I'm not trying to judge anyone for any opinion.

Question for cis lesbians who have dated trans women: has anyone ever told you that you aren't really a lesbian because your partner was a trans women? Same question for cis gay men who have dated trans men.

For all the talk of how trans men "harass" cis gay men and how trans women "harass" cis lesbians, I'm willing to believe that this is a lot more common.
