Just curious about your experience of the class and professor. Thank you!
BROUGHT THEM TO PUBLIC SAFETY LOST AND FOUND
Hey y’all, I can’t seem to find anything that talks about when graduation will be for spring 2025 graduates. Does anyone know when it is? Or when they will release the dates?
Hello all, was just curious if anyone had an idea of when tuition/amount due for the next term should be charged to our account? Thanks in advance!
I’m an Economics major and I’m doing the philosophy cluster since I want to go to law school after undergrad..
How is the philosophy department at PSU? I’m taking Philosophy 316 for winter term with math 112.
Anyone here taken machine learning online with Eshan Aryafar? How is the difficulty level of the class and exams?
Do they ever turn off those floodlights?? I've been living in a Broadway dorm for a while and that constant bright light is super irritating, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. Most of the food carts in that lot close by 10 PM, so why do the floodlights stay on all night? I'm genuinely considering installing some kind of temporary tinting on my window to lessen that constant bright light. And when I say it's bright, I mean I can still see all the way down to the opposite end of my kitchen in my dorm room with all the lights off and my shades down.
The photo attached was taken at 11 PM.
I do not like using smartphones, can I get away with feature (dumb) phone and laptop?
Hey, I was just wondering if we could possibly rent a room to watch F1 for saturdays race. It will be just PSU students who love F1 😭
I’m in my senior year and need to take a couple of 1-2 credit classes this winter and spring to fill up my last 3 elective credit requirements. I’m a business major so it needs to be outside of that field, does anyone have any recommendations? I’m kind of stuck on what to take.
Can’t decide which one to take! I don’t really have a preference for one over the other. Both are intimidating but I’m keeping an open mind. If you’ve taken either, did you enjoy your learning experience and any professor recommendations? Open to PCC recs too.
I am starting to feel super lonely here at PSU. Since transferring, I've found it nearly impossible to make friends. I've pushed myself to be social and outspoken this term, but it just feels like daily rejection. I know some of this is the cross-section of people having their own lives, but I've watched others make friends over the term, and it's starting to discourage me from socializing in class. Are there any clubs or places where I can meet other psychology students?
Hello everyone! Am I the only one struggling with keeping up with classes this term, i feel so discouraged. I’m a current Computer Science major and am currently struggling with two of my classes rn, one of these classes is calculus, which i’ve failed once before. I have spent so much time focusing on the other class that my grade in Calculus is a 29%, i’m not sure if this is a grade i can come back from. Not necessarily asking for any advice (i’ll take it tho lol) but rather wondering if anyone else is going through something similar?
Hello, I was wondering if I were to fail 2 classes this term for the first time and retook them again next term, would the grade for those 2 classes be replaced by the most recent one or will only one of them be replaced. I couldn't find much info on failing more than 1 class.
Update: I talked with my advisor and they said as long as it was your first time failing you should be able to retake with the gpa set to the most recent one.
Thanks!
I’m applying for fall 2025 term and I’m gonna major in physics. Im choosing between PSU and some other schools but are there good research opportunities?
I’m applying to Reed (good but pricey af) and university of Portland (pricey but good scholarship)
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m Shashank Dharba, and I’m planning to submit an application for the MBA/MSF (Master of Business Administration/Master of Science in Finance) program at Portland State University. I’m excited about the opportunity to be a part of this community, but before finalizing my application, I’d love to hear from current students or alumni about their experiences.
A few specific things I’d like to know:
I’m really keen on understanding how this program aligns with career growth opportunities, especially as I aim to develop my career in [specific field or industry, e.g., finance, business strategy, leadership roles, etc.].
Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would be incredibly helpful. Thank you in advance for your insights—I appreciate your time and help! Looking forward to connecting with some of you.
Thank you,
Shashank Dharba
Has anyone taken BI334? Any advice? I'm kind of dreading it, but it might be my only option as genetics isn't being offered in winter term.
Hello!
( I don't use Reddit much, so I hope my low karma isn't too bad too post.)
I am currently directing one of the student written plays for the New Play Fest, and am looking for a student Violin player. The job would entail either recording audio for the play as a sound (.wav), or possibly playing during the performance if the former either does not work or performing is preferred.
The feel for the play is very solemn, and that would be represented in the music. Yet, I would require some more independence for creating these sounds through violin. There will be an outline, for example, but the musician would be the one that brings it to life through their own vision (as I am not a skilled musician.)
There would be pay involved, and that would be discussed when the player reaches out to me! More details as well if you do decide to reach out, of course.
You can contact me through Reddit, and then I can privately message you better communication methods.
Thank you for your interest!
Hi, I am trying to figure out a good class schedule for the winter and I'm trying to decide if I should take:
BA 303 - On line with either Kennedy Clinton, Saima Martin
BA 325 - Online with either Sambit Tripathi or Jackson Stuart (is one better than the other?)
Any thoughts? Some don't have ratings on RMP so it's hard to gauge. Thank you in advance!
Looking to meet friends outside of class if possible. is there anything happening on PSU this weekend?
hi everyone :)
i’m in my senior year at PSU
i’ve hit the point where i’m needing to figure out what capstone i’d like to do
the caveat is that i can only do online as i am a few hours out of portland (looks like there’s limited options lol)
i’m thinking spring term is when i’ll do it and i found a few that might work
i’m just curious if anyone has taken online capstones and if so, any recommendations?
i’ve emailed a few professors and the capstone folks—just waiting for a response and in the mean time hoping to hear if anyone has had any luck
thank you 🎊
Hi! I'm in my final year at PSU and the last few terms I've taken mostly asynchronous online classes so I can work more. But this has made it so I'm barely on campus more than once a week and not really connected with the campus at all or any students here.
I don't want to graduate feeling like I missed out on some cool things to do or missed out on meeting some cool people, so I'm looking for some recommendations on things to do-- anything from events/groups to join to cool/fun classes or classes with professors who like to engage the class to socialize. Especially anything that happens outside of class more in the evenings.
I'm a psychology major if that helps direct anything.
Thanks!!
Is there anywhere on campus that has a long arm stapler? I need to staple a zine and a standard stapler can't quite reach...
Does PSU offer any sewing classes?
It’s asking me to link a debit card, but I need the money that’s in my student account to pay for it
Registering for classes and trying to figure out who to avoid—not having much luck on rate my professor. Can anyone vouch for/recommend/would not recommend some of these instructors?
Bowen McBeath Grace Pappas Dan Howell Susan Halverson
Sorry if this is too niche but worth a shot 😭
I made a complaint against an officer almost 6months ago using the process they told me to (in writing) and have not even gotten a confirmation of the complaint. I emailed them to follow up and got a response, but they thought I was asking about a police report of a crime. When I clarified it was . complaint about an officer they said they would look into it and now they are ghosting me again. Anyone know what I should do?
Edit: I'm dumb, it's a holiday today. I did not realize lol
Prior post: So my financial aid was applied in a weird order so they messed up and sent me refunds that I wasn't supposed to get. They're now charging me that money back, which is about $1000. Insane, I had no idea, thought I was just getting a refund because I was supposed to.
Anyways, I learned about this account balance on the 6th, the due date for payments and stuff. I had no idea this existed nor did I see any account notifications in my email inbox. So I was shocked, I called financial services and they took awhile to figure out why my account was the way it was, then explained it to me finally.
Afterwards the financial services agent told me they would give a message to the person with authority to waive my late fee for me after they got out of their meeting they were in. I said great thank you, that's all I needed to get taken care of today.
So I went in and 2 days later I have a hold and a late fee on my account. It seems like they NEVER got it sorted out?? No call back, nothing. So I'm now confused and when I called financial services it says there are no agents available. Same with financial aid. So I'm very confused wtf is going on! I register for classes in 3 days and I'm totally screwed if I can't get the courses I need ASAP it opens.
