My goal is to work at the VA hospital so I’m looking for reccs that are quality, affordable and relatively short time frame that will provide good training. Thanks everyone in advance!

Anywhere serving pumpkin pie?

My wife and I welcomed our first child early November. The whirlwind had us skip Thanksgiving this year.

My wife is massively craving a good slice of pumpkin pie. We’ve looked at EVERYTHING on DoorDash and can’t find one. We’re in SW in Multnomah village area.

Anyone know of places with great pumpkin pie by the slice??

Delivery sushi recommendations in Clackamas?

Hi all! I am 35 weeks pregnant and so excited to meet my baby and also not be pregnant anymore. I am a huge sushi lover and am looking forward to enjoying some delicious fish once baby makes their debut. However, I’m delivering at the Kaiser Sunnyside birthing center and I don’t know what restaurants are in the area that are good for takeout.

I would love any recommendations that could be delivered to the hospital since I would prefer my husband not leave just to pick up food after baby is here. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

american style chinese food experts please halp ?

do any american style chinese food restaurants in portland sell sesame chicken that looks like this? attaching a pic in the comments…

i grew up on the east coast and nothing has ever compared to the chinese restaurant in my hometown. their sesame chicken is sliced super thin and pan seared - not battered or fried. it must have some corn starch because the edges do get crispy.

does this exist in portland pleeease

Sober communal living?

Hello--a friend is looking for a new place (with roommates) in PDX. She works nights, is respectful and quiet, and wants a place where she can continue her sobriety in good company. Does anyone have potential leads?

Help Me Find This Little Joy?

I was on the freeway in my BF’s truck feeling very disillusioned and disconnected from the things going on in my life but it’s summertime in Portland and you just have to embrace the sun when it comes (amiright or amiright?) so we drove up next this woman in an SUV that had her hand outside the window of the drivers seat just waving it around enjoying the sun and even though our paces varied in traffic I told my boyfriend, “Oh my gosh, speed up and get next to her!” Then this beautiful moment happened that I have thought about endlessly. When I’m sad I go back to this video and replay it over and over again. Help me find her? 🥺👉👈

Watercolor classes?

Does anyone have any recommendations for (affordable) water color painting classes? I used to paint a lot as a kid/teen/early adult but fell off over the last 15 years.

Edit: preferably around SE area but willing to travel if its close to a 14 or 15 stop.

What are some good venues to host a surprise 40th birthday party?

Looking to host a surprise 40th birthday for a significant other. Was thinking either a restaurant with a separate room in which you could have buffet style food. Or, a separate venue that allows caterers to provide food and drinks.

Has anyone hosted something at a space that they were quite happy with? Likely 20-30 people attending and would like to keep it $50-$100 a head including beverages.

Thanks!

What's up with the lack of green turn arrows?

I can't tell you how many times I sit through multiple signals at major crossings because someone (or even myself) needs to turn left but you only ever get a solid green with oncoming traffic.

I've lived here for years but learned to drive in WA where they seem to have plenty of green arrows. Is there a reason we have little to none here?

Queer, knowledgable, family law attorney?

Can I get any recommendations for a competent and knowledgable family law attorney who is also hopefully a woman/queer? My partner is in need of a lawyer—she had one in mind but is questioning things now. My partner also does not deal well with men and ideally would like a queer woman.

Thanks.

are there any local pet artist for holiday gifts?

Hi, my partner and I decided to gift some of our family ornaments of their pets, however the ones I found on etsy look like some kind of scam ( $30 for stained glass and 30K sales in 2 years seems unrealistic to me) Does anyone do any pet art ornaments locally or at least a proper small business I could order from. would like stained glass, but anything with our family's dogs' faces on them.

Support groups for autoimmune disease or chronic illness?

I’m very sick and in severe pain. I don’t know what’s wrong and neither do the doctors but all signs point to some kind of autoimmune disease. I don’t feel like my friends or family can understand what I’m going through and I feel like I’m going crazy with how difficult this all is. I’m hoping to find support groups and people to talk to, or any other supports for people who are sick like me. Any ideas?

Where can I use an etching press?

I'm making an A5 lino print block. So far, I just print using a baren or wooden pot scraper. I'd love to try an etching press with this one, though. Do any printmakers know of an hourly workspace?

I've been to IPRC and I don't think they have an etching press, but if you know for a fact that they do, then if you would please tell me where it's hiding.

Looking for a sock tailor?

I have a pair of long socks (thigh high) made of 70% merino wool that I want to get lined. I’m not sure what material I want them lined with but something less itchy that’s for sure. Are there any tailors you recommend or know who’ve done something similar?

What are the best wedding dress stores in Portland?

Hello, we are a couple in Vancouver BC and are going to be visiting Portland to look at wedding dresses, and were wondering what stores you would recommend?

My fiancé is looking for a traditional white dress, no weird and wacky colours or textures.

Curious on what places you would recommend?

Also, what jewellers would you recommend for wedding bands? For me, it would be either tungsten or white gold, and for her, she is looking for a yellow gold stackable ring to go over her engagement ring.

Happy to hear your thoughts.

Thank you.

Why are buses sometimes downtown only?

I'm on my way to great clips from PSU. When I was boarding the 17 the driver said her particular bus was downtown only and to get on the next one. Last time this happened was because of the marathon which I understood, but this time confused me. Why do some buses do downtown only?

Anyone want to teach my wife and I how to play the boardgame Root?

Hi all,

I bought the boardgame Root after hearing people talk about how good it is. My wife and I sat down one night to try to play it and was completely baffled by the rules. I've watched a how to play online but was still confused since each faction is unique. Was wondering if anyone here knows how to play and would be willing to meet us at guardians or any boardgame place of your choice to help teach us how to play. Happy to pay for your drinks/food etc for your time.

Where can I find free or cheap refrigerator?

My son and his family have a landlord from hell. She refuses to fix anything but the rent is cheap so for now they have to deal with it. The refrigerator is going out and they will have to replace themselves. Is there anywhere that will donate or sell a refrigerator for super cheap? They will be moving soon but need refrigerator, obviously, until they move.

What's up with the lights at Willamette Dog Park?

I have been going to the dog park at Willamette Park for a few years now. It is open until 10 or midnight. The lighting is a mess at night. They have lights but they don't stay on. They flicker every few minutes at best. If the park is open then shouldn't the lights be on? Who can I call about this? I need to be able to see out there!

Can someone please recommend a good local debt collection attorney?

Does anyone have experience working with a good local attorney that is strong in debt collection? I was awarded a large amount judgment for my attorney fees after my ex kidnapped my children; I had to go to court to get full custody. Looking for a debt lawyer that is really good at the research/collection process and easy to work with.

Apartment suggestions for elderly relatives?

Hi there, We have elderly relatives who are still able to "mostly" live on their own but are far less ambulatory than they were just a few years ago. They need to relocate to Portland to be close to family. They need a 2 bedroom apartment and can afford up to $3,000 a month. W/D in the apartment and easy access to their car is a must. If you have any suggestions as to whether a nicer apartment is feasible with these requirements, we would love to hear about it. Thank you very much.
