On the CCOG for CH151, it says that it "prepares students wanting to take the CH 221-3 General Chemistry series that have no chemical background or have not taken a college or high school chemistry course in the last 3 years." The CH221 CCOG however states that 151 is a requirement. If I've taken a high school chemistry course 3 years before 221, will I still have to take 151?
Everytime I log in, I get a malwarebytes pop-up saying it blocked pcc .edu from scanning my ports
Hi! Has anyone taken the A&P at Portland Community College, specifically the 231, 232, and 233. I'm trying to figure out what the first quarter entails! And how lab was and what to expect :)
I’m enrolled for winter 2025.
So it says that we get our financial aid in January for winter term, but it says that I have to pay by Dec 18th. Am I a bit screwed?
Prefacing this, I was a slightly-below-average performer in high school, and my first attempt at college in 2021 led to failure. However, this time I'm doing much better sorting myself out, but all the opportunities I want to take now seem to be limited to students who have prior experience and/or are high school students.
I am taking classes for astronomy and biotechnology here at PCC, and I would like advice on how/where to find research internships in those fields, and what I would have to get in order before presenting my research resume. Astrophysics is one of my longest passions but my GPA does not reflect my knowledge due to the independent reading I've done outside of school. Same with biotech. Please help!
If I’m taking a course that says online lecture and in person lecture and in person lab. Is the in person lecture optional or do I have to attend both online lecture and in person lecture ?
Please give me some ideas for easy general classes. I'm 100% burnt out on school but can't afford to stop, need some easy classes for winter.
I’m currently taking three online courses, and while I’m passing two of them, I’m failing my math class. Would financial aid cover the cost for me to take a lower-level math course and then retake the one I’m struggling with? I feel like I should have started at a lower level. How would I go about asking for this? Is fasfa based on total gpa or gpa per class?
Currently have two A’s one F.
Just wanted to post here that I find it highly unprofessional that teachers called out sick, discussed politics and avoided lesson plans for personal political opinions and reasons. Wack.
I plan on taking this class either during the winter or spring term. There was one professor that I was hoping to see on the winter term list based on when I was looking to retake this class during this past summer term, but it appears that they aren’t teaching for the upcoming term.
I had initially taken this class last year, but decided to drop after seeing how disorganized the professor and the modules were. I already checked on the rate my professors website and tbh I’m not feeling all that confident about a majority of them based off of reviews but I have to take this class in order to get my certificate. Any suggestions or input?
I’m getting my fusion pass for timberline today! i’m in my mid 20’s and just went back to school this term! i was hoping pcc had a snow sport club cause id love to find new people to go up with, unfortunately they don’t. so i thought id post on here and ask if anyones a student that skis or snowboards and wants new people to go up with!
Hi everyone,
I will take CIS 120 (Digital Literacy Skills) and MP 111 (Medical Terminology) next term. Could you please recommend any teachers who are excellent and knowledgeable in these subjects? I'm from Vietnam and don't have any information about the teachers. I want to ensure I don’t waste my time in classes that aren't engaging.
Thank you very much!
I'm trying to access materials from a class I took online in Spring 2024 through D2L Brightspace, but the class is labeled "closed" and I am unable to access the page. It is the only class I have taken from PCC so I have nothing to compare it to.
Are all previous classes closed? Is it a class/instructor specific thing? Is it due to outstanding debt?
My daughter is looking at taking CS 160 or 161 coming up, and it states that 160 is suggested, but not required. So, from people who have been through this, is 160 really suggested?
Her background:
Has some high school experience programming basic websites and basic video games. Static websites using html, very little to no js.
Has worked with js on hobbies, working with electronics. Very low level. Maybe one class, and a few functions.
Has worked in unity, using C#. Including tutoring on C#, walking people through game creation including formulas, declaring variables, and the like.
Her main goal is to transfer out and go to a state school to go into CS.
The counselor made it sound like 160 is required, but looking at the course catalog, it appears she could go straight into 161a and do solid there.
Is anyone else having an issue getting into mypcc rn? I have discussion replies due at midnight and I cannot login, it just loads and loads loads then says cannot log you in right now. I'll lose credit for the whole discussion post for this week if I don't get my replies in by midnight.
I did a single term in late 2012 and am thinking about going back starting winter term this year. Is there anything special I need to do or can I just register for classes when the time comes? Also, the term I did was working towards a BA and I'd like to pursue a BS this time, and am not sure what kind of hoop jumping that entails. Kind of confused by the info I have found online and I'm less afraid of sounding dumb on reddit than on the phone to academic professionals. Thanks.
I’m currently in my first term of classes at Mount Hood community college taking some pre reqs for the dental hygiene program. I’m planning on transferring to PCC come winter term, and I’m wondering if anyone has any information about the two programs. Pros/cons & compare/contrast. Any information on dental hygiene programs as a whole is incredibly helpful! I’m disappointed so far with how my time at Mt. Hood has been, but I want to be sure of my choice before I transfer out. Thanks in advance!
I (19m) need to find a roommate because im currently staying with a 46 year old woman and ive just about had it!! I've only had two full-time quarters at PCC. One was a mix of in-person and the remote, the other (current) one is a mix of online and remote. I am finding the online/remote classes to have more schoolwork overall (and thus more stressful) vs in-person. What has your experience been?
Hey,
Wondering if anyone has taken bio112 with Kelly Ballew? I know this class was going to be hard but this seems...insane. She's super disorganized and does not go over about 75% of what we are expected to know on both the lab and lecture quiz each week. any advice or tips would be helpful
GPTZero, turnitin? Anyone got an idea?
Anybody know when to expect a check for a refund from a debit card payment?
edit: Y’all I said a check lol, not a direct deposit
Curious if anyone is in the family and human services associates program? I'm thinking about switching from the AD associates program. I'm confused about prerequisites, are there any? Because it doesn't say anywhere on the pcc website.
Hey, so I know other people have asked a question like this but I wanted a bit more insight. I am a high school senior in Arizona and am planning on going to college in Oregon. currently, im pre-admitted to PSU, but am trying to find the best option for me. I've done a lot of research and started looking into the community college to university path, which will help me with finances. However, I have a few questions.
I need to choose register between Soc 213 and ES 101 as my prerequisite class. Which one are you prefer?
Hi guys,
I have a quick question, I was supposed to receive my oregon opportunity grant along with my pell grant for Fall term and disbursement is this week (friday) I had the refund amount from my oog posted yesterday on my dashboard but today it disappeared? I have it in my award letter that I would receive it this term but as of right now I only have my pell grant applied and again my oog is not showing on my "pending refund'.
Is this normal? Or does this mean I'm not receiving it anymore? Is this because of the delay in the whole financial department thing? If anyone has experience with this pls help😭 was really looking forward to my refund as I just started practicum & need to buy some materials!!
Just curious if anyone knows if PCC is still on track to disperse funds on Oct 4th, so Friday this week?
Hello!
Originally I transferred out of PCC to pursue a university of my choice, however before I left I did not complete or apply for an Associate's degree. Now that I have enough credits (103) what do I have to do in order to apply for and pay for a degree in AS general studies? Any help is much appreciated! Feel free to DM me as well if that helps. Thanks!
PS: I have changed my degree to the correct one (Associate's of general studies) and when I maneuver to the "order your diploma" page, nothing shows up as available or allowed. Naturally I would also schedule an appointment with an advisor but this seems to be more and more impossible these days.
I’ve been really confused on when I was supposed to register for classes and every time I try to it wouldn’t allow me because I didn’t have financial aid yet. My award got accepted about two months ago, but I still couldn’t register for classes because it wasn’t showing as available in the PCC website. I called on Monday to talk to someone and they told me that the aid will be disbursed on the second week of October and I would be able to register for classes now and they would be protected. The term has started and I’m still not able to register for classes. I’m just confused. Has anyone gone through this? Were you able to register after the term started?
I'm currently enrolled in 10 credits, thinking about dropping a class which will put me at 7 credits. My question is will my financial aid amount go down? I did have 14 credits but immediately dropped a class and my financial aid amount dropped like $1800.
