Does anyone know of some locally owned shops or folks who sell well made cat trees? I looked at Broadway Pet online and didn’t see any cat furniture. I would love to purchase something locally in store in the Portland area or even further out if it’s a reasonable driving distance. My cat is a big Siamese guy who still loves to climb and play. Most of the cat furniture I’ve seen on line seems to be geared towards kittens or smaller cats. I live on the West side so something out this way would be great. I haven’t been to any local pet shops in a while and I would really like to avoid the chain stores. It would be even better if someone knows some trustworthy, local wood working enthusiasts who need the money. Please excuse my improper usage of punctuation and such.
Over the years I’ve seen a lot of great shots from Pittock Mansion of the buildings peeking out through fog. Today (12/1) I finally woke up early enough to shoot it!
Anyone know of any other good neighborhood light displays that ISN'T peacock lane of zoo lights/PIR. Growing up i remeber a stretch of lit homes that ended with a massive blue hued nativity scene (MASSIVE). I think it WAS around mt tabor, but i was 8 and had no real clue. Wondering if any neighborhoods ha e picked up the torch and still go all out?
Does the new incoming leadership in Portland (e.g. mayor + council) have any chance of reforming taxes to reduce the burden on middle and upper middle income families? What incentives can we expect to keep people from moving to the suburbs?
Took this at 1,000 ft in Sat Nov 30, 2024. Keeps tripping me out. Bridges, freeway, shoreline, and some buildings look normal. Optical illusion, or keeping Portland weird?
It's that time again!

I asked for recommendations a few weeks ago as the family and I were headed to Portland for a few days. We just got back, and I just wanted to thank those of you who gave us those recommendations. They were incredible, and we had the best time in one of the best cities in the US. It was beautiful, and everyone was so incredibly warm and caring (aside from the poor waiter who had to work Thanksgiving at Mother's, but he gets a pass - and an extra tip for his trouble). Our kid loved OMSI, I loved Powell's (bought a bunch of old Louis L'Amour leather bound books - I love a good western), and the wife loved the little independent shops that seem to have fled the Bay Area as the rent has increased and the tech incursion took over. Again, thank you, and I hope you genuinely keep Portland weird. It's amazing.
Ended up being unable to go. DM me if you're interested! Edit: Just one haha
Hi everyone, I parked in Seattle overnight and someone ripped off my rear windshield wiper arm (not just the blade). The rest of my car is fine. I’m wondering if there’s an auto body shop in Portland that can fix this at a reasonable price, or if it’s easy enough to fix myself. Thanks!
Left on our front porch at 4:30 in the morning. Overlook neighborhood. Not sure if an art project or just disturbing. Noticed others had this happen in the past. Just wondering what the joke is here. Also - we know it’s definitely not momma Franklin handing these out.

"After their successful strike on the 27th, the New Seasons Labor Union is calling for a customer boycott of all locations for the rest of the holiday season. Please shop elsewhere to help support their contract negotiation efforts. Check out their website for more ways to contribute. www.nslu.org/community "
Personal commentary:
I am not personally affiliated with the union or NS, just been a very regular customer for some 15 years at multiple locations. I've noticed the decline and heard the growing discontent with conditions and management. Many of my favourite employees have left.
Luckily there are other options around Portland for more-ethical meat and decent produce that seem to value their employees. (And I'm not talking about Whole Amazon). If that means going a little further out (WinCo is employee owned, cheap, and many organic options) or paying an extra buck per pound (any of the many co-op or boutique grocers), so be it.
Hello Portland
I lost my Cat if you've seen him or have found him, please contact me. He was last seen on SW Barns Rd. His name is Troubell and he is an extremely friendly short-haired black cat. I must find him quickly because he is on medication. We are very worried about him so please keep your eyes open for our fur son.
Thanks for looking.
Just a heads up there is an aggressive stray dog wandering around near 19th and Pacific, followed me 2 blocks trying to bite me. Animal control tried to locate it and we figured out it belongs to the camp on the entrance to the freeway on 16th and Irving. Couldn't find the dog tho, be careful if you are walking your dogs or biking in the area, and definitely keep small kids away. White hound, black spots around it's eyes. Can post the Pic Animal control sent me to ID it.
Went to my local bookstore in the NW. apparently they have to keep Charles Bukowski books behind the counter because they get stolen. Even the thieves here are pretentious.
