This is a set of question for the K3iii users here.
I rented a copy and used it with my 50-135. Its pretty darned good, but struggles speed wise and tracking motion coming towards it. I am considering trying to convert it to screwdrive, or at least testing the camera's tracking with one of my screwdrive lenses.
Also, does anyone use focus priority over fps priority? How does it work and is it worth the drastic slowdown? Other tips are welcome. Its my last night with it before I send it back, so sooner than later if possible.
Pentax 645, Pentax 17, Pentax P3. I've tried different medium format cameras from 6x9 to 645 and the Pentax 645 has always been my favorite go to medium format camera. My Pentax 17 is my EDC it's on me ready to go at a moments notice, and my P3 is my most recent pick up and I love the simplicity of it. I can shoot program mode when I just wanna shoot but I can also shoot manual whenever I want to. After many of cameras that have come and gone I and extremely happy with my current line up. I was considering maybe picking up and LX but I don't know much about them so would yall say they are worth it or not? Let me know what yall think of the line up and the Pentax LX.
I have a Pentax k-3 and would like to know where I can find a Flucard for it. I've looked everywhere but haven't found one

35mm! I have a couple, the M 35/2,8 and S-M-C Takumar 35/3,5. I kind of like the character from the Takumar. The M has some crazy coma wide open doing night shots, etc.
I am searching for a good 35, would the FA35/2 be that much better than the two mentioned? I keep seeing all the buttery smooth Leica 35s and wow what lenses. Can we come close to something like that in the Pentax galaxy?
Finally got the adapter for my Pentax lens to put on my Fuji. My first adapted 35mm glass on a digital.
The adapter itself is a bit bulkier than I’d like it to be. But beats adapting my ef lens on this thing.
So a day or two ago I made a post announcing my intent to rent a K3iii, and asking for advice. It arrived, and all I can say is.... Wow...
Its completely blown past my expectations. It feels so much better balanced than the original, and my fears of its bigger size and weight are gone. I wasn't too wowed by the viewfinder till I picked up the original. Its so feature rich, and its a modern camera in every sense. A small thing that I have loved is the eye sensor, which saves me on battery and time metering.
Its due for a final test this weekend shooting sports, but the AF is already proving itself, and the face/eye detect is not the gimmick I feared it was. I can't wait to get one if it works out. Its restored my faith in Pentax. This thing is practically a mirrorless camera already. All they'd have to do is remove the ovf and install an evf. I think it would still be below even Fuji for now, but its more than enough for me.
I hope they keep heading in this direction!
Decided to take a photo walk in the rain with my k3ii and put some more miles on it. First time using it in any weather condition besides sunny. Love it!! Autofocus is lousy but everything else is great! Started raining pretty hard after I took this picture
HI, I'm just looking for an original leather case for my dad's camera as he has lost the case to his old MX, and struggling to find one for it - there seem plenty of ME cases around though. Anyone know if they are compatible? Thank you.
Hi,
As I say I'm looking for a tripod, I have a K10D and it's my first camera, so I know next to nothing about what to look for.
It feels like quite a bulky camera so I wanted to ask if anyone would recommend one, I don't want anything breaking or falling out.
I'd prefer one which can sit as close to the floor if possible.
I'd be looking for something not too expensive hopefully
Thank you in advance
I am renting a K3iii, its focusing abilities will be my deciding factor on if its Pentax's final hoorah (only for serious use, I will keep one for hobby). So naturally, I wanna make sure I get it right.
Users or prior users, what should I set up on it? I am not sure how to set up eye af or tracking, so both pointers and more would be great. I will have the camera from Thursday to Sunday, but I will be working most of these days.
Hi all. Quick question!
On My K5 I'm very used to using spot focus, then recomposing the shot to ensure the subject is properly in focus.
On my K3, I try to do the same yet often the camera will try to refocus when recomposing, despite the shutter being held half way - or appear to hold focus but then refuse to fire the shutter. I'm on AF-S mode. Is there a menu option to keep focus fixed? I'm aware of back button focus, but when shooting portraits it's not convenient, at least without a grip.
Any guidance appreciated as it's driving me insane. Thanks!
-- Update: MPB have agreed to refund. I'll repurchase another K3 either through MPB or Kamerstore. Thanks to all who commented 📷😁 and MPB for their excellent service.
Currently i am using canon d5 mk ii, nikon d500 and the ricoh griiix and i was wondering why did you choose pentax. I have only seen one guy use it in real life and i have a feeling that they are actually pretty good and i am missing out on them because they are almost nowhere available
Hi, I have a K5 and absolutely love it. The optical viewfinder and sturdy build quality are my favorite features. I do a lot of traveling and activities where I bring my camera, and have never been afraid that it’s gonna break from what I’ve thrown at it.
Recently though, I’ve been become more and more aware of the poor ISO range and the noise at higher sensitivities. I’m therefore considering upgrading to something newer.
The K5 body with newer specs would be my preference, and therefore the K1 comes to mind. I’m however aware of the current state of Pentax and am a bit hesitant to “lock myself in” with their lenses. Thus I’m also looking at some other brands, mainly Sony. I really don’t like the electronic viewfinder though, it might be my imagination but I feel like it lags ever so slightly when panning or tracking something.
I’m wondering if you’ve got any comments/thoughts on what things I should think of and also if there’s something I’m forgetting about. Recommendations are also welcome!
Thanks!
