Is there a way to go back to the old Android emojis?

I have a Tab A8. Every few minutes or more frequently when typing it gets stuck and won't type anymore. Like I'll be writing a comment and while writing it becomes unresponsive. It still has plenty of space. I updated it and got these horrendous emoji. I did the zfont and Gboard thing and it worked for a few days. Now they show on the keyboard but when using them it's the new ones. Will a factory reset take me back to the old ones? I'm willing to root my device if that's the only thing that work. But, if anyone knows anything that will work, please let me know. I barely use my tablet anymore now because I just hate seeing these emoji.

The freezing also is not resolved, so if anyone has a solution for that too it's much appreciated.

Where can I find the Rec 709 picture option for the Odyssey G7 monitor?

Today I was trying to set my monitor to Rec 709 picture mode on my monitor but I can't find it anywhere, does anyone know where it could be? I tried looking at the menu option for my monitor but I don't see it.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ better to repair or get a new phone

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S10+ in 2019, and now 5 years later, it is barely chugging along.

The speed is still decent but the headphone port basically doesn't work (I need to press really hard for the headphones to be connected), the charging port needs to be connected exactly right, and the screen has a stripe of dead pixels.

Since the screen is cracked, the trade is value is only $60-80. The phone was really nice when it was new. Therefore, I'm debating if I should have it repaired or get a new phone.

I bought it with 512GB storage, and when looking at samsung trade in options, new samsung phones with 512GB of storage are all north of $1K, while doing some quick searching, I saw quotes for repairs at ~$300. And my phone was pretty fast new, so I assume with a battery replacement it should be about as fast.

I'm wondering if anyone here would like to share their experiences

Google Assistant Not Activating on Lock Screen - Galaxy A15 5G (US)

As the subject says. I just got my A15 5G on Thursday and Google Assistant does not activate when called for when the screen is locked.

I've checked the lock screen setting for it (it's flipped on), I've tried restarting the phone, I've tried flipping between Gemini and Assistant, but short of doing a factory reset (which I'm not opposed to), Assistant won't play on a screen lock.

For comparison, my old Motorola Stylus 5G doesn't have this problem.

Anything else I should be checking?

WhatsApp notifications

So I've seen a few posts on this over the years and I've had nonstop issues with WhatsApp notifications. For no reason I'll just not receive notifications sometimes, I could just be messaging someone and get notifications fine then out of the blue they will just stop appearing until I go back on the app. I miss notifications when I am on my phone and when the screen is off, yesterday I missed a call and messages whilst browsing twitter and it is so frustrating. I have reset my phone, stopped apps being put to sleep, reset notifications settings, basically tried everything I can think of

S24 overheating issues.

Bit of context, just got the S24, literally yesterday. Brand new, from my service provider.

Im trying to play Genshin Impact and my phone is overheating like crazy and even on simple tasks like Youtube videos its burning up.

Any insight and solutions to this issue? Its suppose to be the latest and newest Samsung phone so I dont expect to be having these issues at all.

S24 Ultra: Not What The Reviews Promised

I jumped from the iPhone 13 to the S24 Ultra, lured by the hype. Here's what went beyond the headlines:

The Loves

  • The S Pen Revolution: This changed how I take notes. It's a game-changer.
  • Google On Tap: Gemini is a dream! So much better than Siri.
  • App Liberation: Sideloading is a relief for those of us with restrictions.
  • Surprisingly Durable: The screen is scratch-free, even without protection.
  • Battery Boost: I no longer live in fear of a dead phone.

The Shock

  • Camera Fail: I'm baffled. Low-light photos are worse than my old iPhone 13 – less detail, less sharpness. Feeling misled.

My Takeaway -

The S24 Ultra is powerful but has a hidden flaw in its camera. If you're a low-light photographer, beware – the reviews don't tell the whole story. It seems like I'm not alone in this disappointment.

S24 size difference?

Let me preface this by saying I am a small person with very very small hands. Like for reference my ring size is a 5, I fit extra small gloves at work, and there's probably 10 year olds with bigger hands than me. With that being said, I also own the S22 ultra.

This phone is way too big. And it's clunky, it has fallen so many times. For being ultra, it's not that ultra. I've already had to replace the screen, and just cracked it even with a screen protector and case on. And since my insurance on it is gone, I'm contemplating just upgrading and using a credit before I inevitably drop it again. Not even just holding it, thing falls straight out my scrub pants at work all the time.

I just want the perspective of others with the s24 series. I imagine I'll have to bypass s24 ultra because I'm sure it's gonna be too big as well. Is the S24 and S24+ comfortable? How do you like it? Bonus points for sharing your experience and having small hands.

Issue with music playback

[Solution at the bottom of the post]

Hi. I have an S23U and buds 2 pro.. the phone is working perfectly, and the buds too. However, i just noticed that when i send or receive a message through whatsapp, the music playback stops for a split-second -which is roughly the same duration as the sound whatsapp makes when sending or receiving a message while in chat-

I have tried putting the phone on vibrate and also mute but the issue still persisted, i also added samsung music to the list of apps able to play when other apps are open through thr sound assistant app but it still didn't work. I am new to OneUI 6.1 (my last phone was at 3.1), so i'm still not familiar with how things work and stuff.

Solution: So, what i found causes the issue is every sound coming from whatsapp, whether it's notifications or convo tones (the sounds whatsapp makes when u send or receive a message while in chat). To solve it, i went into the sound assistant app (u can get it from good lock), scrolled all the way down to the "multi sound" feature, and turned it on for all apps. This stopped the music from pausing when a notification arrived. Then, I went into whatsapp's settings -》notification settings and turned off conversation tones (first feature in the page all the way up, it's a toggle). This turned off music pausing when i send or receive a message.

10 years is way too little for a digital device to become declared unsupported and handicapped artificially and by force

I volunteer at a place where we restore old desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets and then forward them to people in need who can't afford them. Many of the Windows laptops are over 10 years old, up to 15 in some cases. Sadly, we can't afford the time to restore devices that are 20 years or older, but at least in theory, they could be brought back to life and be used.

On the tablet side of things, Apple or Samsung, things are different. A couple weeks ago, I had an iPad Mini 1st gen that was borderline useless. One no longer can update the software, download any apps, or use most of the provided apps. It can solely be used for browsing Wikipedia or watching YouTube videos in a horrendously low quality, 360 or so, while the screen is almost 1080p. The device looks like new, feels like new, the battery works fantastically, yet the device is relegated to e-waste because using it only for the camera and browser is something nobody really wants. If the people could at least download newer versions of YouTube, a game or a navigation system, the device could still be used.

Another case with Samsung as the representative of the Android side. "Hurr durr Android freedom no walled garden"-BUUUULLSHIIIIT! The device is barely 10 years old and stuck on Android 4. You can't update the software, you can't update the apps, the apps refuse to work in their old versions, and you can't update the Playstore. The device is basically e-waste. THEORETICALLY you can install LineageOS or some other bullcrap, but doing that on an Android device is 4 times as difficult as installing Windows on a normal PC and nobody wants to deal with that crap except for the hardcore enthusiasts. The device is relegated to e-waste for NO REASON other than Samsung's greed, and Apple's greed, and general capitalist-corporate-greed.

What prompted me to write this rant was a random comment I stumbled upon while searching for a solution. The comment went something like "There is no good reason to use an Android 4 device at [current year], move on and buy a new device."

The degenerate morons like the commenter are the reason why modern devices suck, die way too soon, or are killed off by force; they are the reason why fighting climate change is an impossible task and why humanity is going to suffer a genocide executed by the fucking Sun; and I don't have any problem with calling that kind of people degenerate morons no matter who gets offended or thinks that that is ableist or a slur because that is what they fucking are - DEGENERATE MORONS.

There are many, many, many good reasons why you would want to use such an old device, and I will list some of them:
you want to experience old games or video media in the way it was experienced in the past, similarly to why people still use MP3 players or record players;
you want to experience using older versions of existing software for the thrill of it;
you are actively using a software that no longer receives support but works on that device, but you don't want to deal with all your other apps not working (might disproportionally affect people with disabilities);
you want to have a functioning backup device;
you want to give an older device to little children or people with disabilities and not be sorry if they accidentally break it;
you want to experiment with software and hardware on an older device so you are not financially ruined if you break it;
and the most important of all: you don't want to create unnecessary e-waste when you can use a device that still fucking works.

Do I think companies should be forced to support a 10 year old device?

HELL NO! I can understand that companies need to innovate and earn money and sell new products. I want them to do that.

What I don't want them to do is to wall-off functioning devices so that is nearly impossible for casual users to install an OS. People still use Windows XP era machines (both with XP and other OSs, regardless if Windows or Linux distros) for various reasons, including creating backups, digitizing analog media, or for retro gaming.

Companies should be forced to unlock bootloaders and to make installing an alternative OS super-easy and even provide tutorials on how to do it once they decide that their old device is not making them money. Companies should be forced to provide documentation. Companies should provide minimal server infrastructure to update the software to the newest version or release the needed files to the public so we can store it somewhere else.

If a company can't provide the minimum of keeping an old device somewhat running after 10 years, if that is really the straw that will break the corporate overlord's back, then I not only don't care - I want that company fucking gone off the face of the Earth, never to be remembered again.

My S10P's volume button fell off lmao, is there a way to map the Bixby button to change the volume?

I was thinking something like tapping increases and holding decreases

Would that be possible, through built in settings, third party or otherwise?

Does Samsung provide international warranty like Apple?

I wanted to purchase a Galaxy Tab S9 from US as I am getting it cheaper and I want to use it in India, can I claim that warranty in India even if the device was purchased in the US?

Samsung has launched the same version in India too, but it is just pricier.

Samsung A14 Is The Slowest Phone I Ever Owned

Why is this phone so slow, its stutters, lags, hangs and takes 5 minutes to restart.

I already did all the typical: Removed Apps Limited Background Apps Cleared Memory Did the whole DevMode animations and limited processes.

I have had cheaper phones that work faster in everything.

What is with this crappy phone.

So I know my S23 Ultra has been capable of everything so far. With that being said can I stand on my phone to measure my weight as if it was a scale? 💙

Last time I checked at the doctors I was 175 pounds and I think I am at 180 now and I wanna stand on my phone to check my weight. Im pretty sure they made a scale app on the play store already, just wondering if the snapdragon 8 gen2 chip is enough to get the job done? If not I am just gonna trade it in for the s24 ultra then.

My plan was to download the app and elevate the phone on 2 bricks placed by the edges of the device. I believe that if I then stand directly on the middle of the screen it would weigh me accurately.

My Samsung phone has been in a bootloop for 4 days, and no chance to get it out of this without a factory reset.

But I didn't backup the data so all my data will be lost. Now before I bite the bullet and do it, is there anyway I can get to my data? I tried everything, none worked. And there's no safe mode on my phone.

Routine for turning on Power Saving doesn't run during calls

I have a routine to turn on Power Saving on when the battery gets below 30%. However, if the routine runs while I am on a call, it fails to turn on Power Saving. I usually don't realise this until the battery has drained a lot more and have to turn on Power Saving manually. I am wondering how other people manage this. Do you guys have a backup routine or use Adaptive Power Saving?

Can a phone be damaged if it sometimes gets hot when we use certain apps or while taking pictures?

When I'm playing or using an app for a long time, I notice that it gets hot, but without displaying that message that it needs to cool down. I wonder if it causes any damage to its system or something related.

Shouldn't Samsung be sued for making the camera / picture quality decreased after every update?

The topic of "camera quality declining over time" have beem discussed to death now and I'm sick of this problem. Apple have been sued for making their phone slower so people buy the latest iPhones and this is Samsung way (allegedly) of making people buy their latest phone hence should be investigate in the same manners! This needs to stop. It's madness.

Flex2 Alpha: Second Monitor

Just picked up a second monitor for console gaming at 4k 144hz. I use my Flex2 Alpha (The 512 gig 16 ram version) for work and school.

Wondering: what's the best output I can get with this laptop to my second monitor? Will it be best for me to use the HDMI port or USB-C port to connect the two?

From asking samsung support, my flex2 has a 1.4b version of HDMI and some mystery version of usb-c that they keep telling me is (standard usb-c). My monitor is rated at hdmi version 2.1.

Is there a way I can look at my phone though a lap top? (The screen has broke)

My Samsung phone screen has broke. It is black and no responding to touch, so completely broke.

I really need my stuff off it.

I have tried to connect it to a laptop but it says I need to unlock my phone to get the files, which I can’t do.

Dose anyone know how I can get my files? Or how much it would cost to fix?
