This feels SO silly: I mostly do instant photography, recently got my first real digital camera, and I'm at a loss on how to use it. I'm on a Europe trip right now and having my digital camera AND my Instax out feels so goofy.
While traveling I usually have my Instax out, look through the viewfinder a bunch, but end up taking only 5-10 shots a day. With the digital camera it feels like a whole process taking the lens cap off, opening the screen (there's no viewfinder), setting up the shot, not even liking the shot half the time, taking the picture anyways, and then putting it all away.
I don't know how to feel more normal taking the digital photos or why I'm struggling so much to take photos on it. I feel it's also keeping me from using my Instax since I feel so uncomfortable with the digital camera.
Maybe I feel uncomfortable because I feel like a tourist or maybe I'm not cut out for the digital camera life (other than phone pictures)? Totally taking any advice-- I feel like I'm not enjoying my vacation because this camera stuff is freaking me out.
It's my first time posting here, and I don't know a whole lot about cameras, but I'm going on a 5 day canoe trip at the end of the month, and wanted to take a camera (a small sony cybershot digital camera). The issue is that it's not waterproof. Is there a case or cover or any way I can keep it dry? The water is super calm so it's unlikely that the boat tips and the camera gets submerged, but I doubt it'll stay completely dry, and I don't know if a zip lock bag will cut it (will it?). Thanks for any help!
I am a highly indecisive person, and easily influenced to the best and shiniest, and so have a hard time narrowing down my many many options. Thank you so much for the help doing so!
I have access to canon c500 mki camera which came with the original viewing screen. I am looking for a 4k external recorder which does not have a screen, to use with the camera as there is already the screen that it came with it. Or is there something I don't understand?
All those like Atomos Ninja v, Atomos Connect etc all have screens which I see as duplications of the screen that the camera came with.
Somebody please Heeeeeellllllp!
I recently got an a6100, but im still getting used to the camera. I want to transfer some old photos to a new SDcard but I'm unable to figure out how to connect it. Please help!
Budget: $200 (Flexible. Can increase if the features are right)
Camera: Sony ZV-E10
Country: United States
Intended use: Indoor selfie screen for centering streams and video recordings.
What features would be nice to have:
In case this matters, the camera plugs into an Elgato 4K Camlink. I assume whatever I use would need to also be 4K rated so the quality isn't lost on transfer.
I have never purchased one of these before and I have no idea what is quality and what is garbage so I appreciate any help you can give. Thank you!
Haii guys, I'm new here so I don't really know what I should discuss with you guys so.. yeah.. but, I do have a problem though. I have a camera, it's a Nikon Coolpix A100 and it stopped working recently, well, it still allows me to view pics I have taken before, but it doesn't let me take pictures anymore. Yes, I have tried restarting it multiple times, I have tried freeing up storage, I have tried recharging it but none work. I don't really know what happened but whenever I take a picture, it just says after the flash "This Card Cannot Be Read" and it just stays there, I turn off the cam and I turn it back on and it's back to normal but when I check the gallery, the pic I recently took is not there. Please help me guys? How can I fix this without going to some repairman or something?
It's 20 degrees celsius inside our home, and outside its 0-2 degrees celsius. I have seen a l of wildlife here, and I wanted to capture them, but I dont want to damage my gear with cold. I heard a lot of people say: put your gear inside a ziplock bag, but there's no way I can fit in a D500 and a Sigma 100-300 f/4 in there. Is it safe to just bring it out? Or do I need to do something before I can bring it out
I'm going on a trip to Victoria this Spring, and would like to take photos of the scenery and landscapes from the ferry, a moving vehicle, and the ground, at short and far distances, all times of day, and lighting environments. that I can eventually print out and frame. I'm starting from scratch with equipment and would like to have all my bases covered when I leave.
basically, I'm looking for some beginner friendly travel cameras and lenses that are as versatile as possible. Since this sub requires me to fill out a questionnaire, here we go:
- Budget: ~$500CAD could spend more on good lenses
-Country: Canada
- Condition: Likely second-hand for a better deal
- Type: Thinking Non-mirrorless, DSLR, open to others
- Intended Use: Photography, not too concerned with videos
- Style: landscape, street, wildlife, scenic, distance
- Must-have features: weather-sealing, switchable lenses, capable of 4k
- Nice-to-have features: Rule of thirds viewfinder, beginner friendly
- Portability: A strap is a must, not too picky, just want to be able to walk around with it reasonably well for long periods
- Cameras I already have: An Iphone lol
Since I'm a beginner without rlly anything I'm curious to hear about possible travel bags, cleaning equipment, etc. too!
Thanks!
Hey folks, I’m curious how are you all feeling about M43 performance compared to full-frame and APS-C systems in 2024? With tech advancing and sensor sizes playing a big role, do you feel M43 still holds its own, or are FF and APS-C pulling too far ahead? Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on how M43 stacks up against the bigger formats this year.
My camera looks like this when I hold the photo button.
Why? Is it fixable?
• Budget: $1500 aud • Country: Australia • Condition: Brand new • Type of Camera: camera for life • Intended use: compact travel camera but also one I can use when we have kids • If photography; what style: portraits, street, landscape (travel ) and family life • If video what style: n/a • What features do you absolutely need: there is a recipe filter on the Ricoh I love which is one of the Main reasons I want this camera. • Portability: • Cameras you're considering: Ricoh gr iii or Olympus OMD mark iv • Cameras you already have: • Notes: We are about to go on our honeymoon and I want a good camera to take over with us that we will be able to use when we are back as well. The only thing that doesn’t sell the Ricoh for me is that it doesn’t have a flash however I don’t know if we would be taking too many night photos. But I just feel like a flash makes everything better. Does anyone have both these cameras and can send me pros and cons ?
We are travelling Europe in winter, the Ricoh is very compact, easy to get out quickly and has the filters. The Olympus may suit us later in life with our kids and family events.
Help haha.
Found an old Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10 in my parent's house but no charger. I've tried charging via DC in, but no dice. Also tried via USB to laptop and power bank but again, nope. I'm guessing I'll need to get another battery charger or universal charger?
Budget: 800$ can be stretched
• Country: turkey • Condition: used or new • Type of Camera: mirrorless (not sure) • Intended use: videography (photography as extra wont hurt :D) • If video what style: cinematic / night videography also • What features do you absolutely need: good colors / can handle low light scenarios. • Cameras you're considering: sony a6500 / sony zv e10/ sony a7 II/ sony a7 r. • Notes: i had a nikon d3100 a long time ago, didnt really use it that much, now i want to buy a camera mostly for videography, i’ve been using my phone to take videos, but now its not enough anymore especially in night videography, i am a video editor and been color grading/ editing for some years now and i finally want to start taking my own videos and editing them to my own liking.
I like sony :)
Hello everyone!
I am looking to build a budget home portrait studio at home. I found a moonlight near my area for sale however, I'm unsure if it is compatible with my camera. I am shooting with a Nikon Z8 and the light I am looking at is a Calumet Genesis 400 monolight.
I want to make sure I have this right before buying anything. I noticed that there is a 2.5mm jack on the back of the light. Will I need to buy a trigger and plug the two in together in order for the camera and light to talk with each other? The trigger I'm looking at is the Godox XPro-N 2.4G if that matters.
Please let me know if I am doing this right or if y'all suggest another way of doing this.
Thanks!
Hi,
I an looking for a camera and i am just looking for suggestions before i cave in.
I am leaning towards buying a Canon R50 with a 24-105mm lens
I want a compact kit. i want something versatile and i mostly shoot 4k30 videos so i want a capable camera but i want the possibility to take good photos as well.
I am not a pro so thats why putting this kind of money on a r50 is a big ask. the canon rf lens are crazy expensive so i was kind of wondering if there is a cheaper alternative with more lens options?
• Budget: ~1 000$ usd
• Country: canada
• Condition: open to suggestions
• Type of Camera: mirrorless? crop
sensor
• Intended use: travel
• If photography; what style: Open to learn
• If video what style: travel, portraits, landscapes, activites
• What features do you absolutely need: 4k30, autofocus, compact
• Portability: a must
• Cameras you're considering: r50, r10
• Cameras you already have: gopro and iphone
• Notes: thanks a lot!
I'm participating in a secret santa and the person I got put photography as an interest and linked to these two cameras, here and here. I rather avoid amazon and buy something personal and found Hanimex Compact A Film Camera on marketplace. Do you think that's a suitable camera and similar enough to the ones they post?
Thanks!
Budget: $50aud Country: Aus Condition: used Type of camera: digital cam Intended use: travel videos/photos Photography style: casual Video style: casual Features: videos/photo taking Portability: easy to slip in bag Cameras considered: Fujifilm Finepix j20 cybershot p73
Hi, I was looking for camera recommendations for travelling, taking videos/photos
I'm not super fussed about quality, as I like the look of older camera photos and want to capture some of that early 2000's charm
The Sony is closer and uses aa batteries which is preferred, but is a tiny bit more expensive at $50
The Fujifilm is a little further and uses it's own battery which is a concern if it's dead, but is $40. Could possibly negotiate with seller for both
Are either of them particularly recommended? Thanks for any help!
Budget: $500 body only (Canadian, sans shipping)
Photo style: Primary - Close to mid range wildlife (veterinarian assistant) for medical documentation. Secondary - general use that's better than an iPhone.
Requirements: Must be a Nikon brand compatible with the DX series of lenses so that we can share lenses (I have a D500), which I think are all the Nikkor F Mount but not sure if there are exceptions.
Previous Recommendations: A previous commenter recommended me the D5300 which I would have been super happy with, but I have not been able to find one for sale and the ones available on Amazon are currently flagged as suspicious (from the Amazon team themselves).
Let me know if I forgot any credentials/requirements I should post.
EDIT:
I should specify, I am very happy with the 5300 recommendation and just want a 2nd/3rd place recommendation to expand the number of available options.
Hey, first post here.
I've recently bought a used Sony Cybershot DSC-H100 camera and also bought some rechargeable AA NiMH batteries (DuraCell 2500 mAh), but after a few minutes (or even seconds) of using after charging the batteries, the camera just freezes and the screen start flickering in many colors, then the camera doesn't turn on anymore, unless I recharge the batteries completely.
Did I just bought bad quality or faulty batteries or is the camera malfunctioning?
Budget: Below USD1500 Country: Philippines Condition: leaning towards new, unless there’s a compelling option to go used Type of camera: mirrorless Intended use: mainly photography, may do hybrid If photography, what style: street, travel If videography, what style: unsure yet, maybe documentary Features needed: Features nice to have: Portability: priority. Small bag Cameras considering: Nikon Z5 Cameras you already have: Nikon D90 (w 18-105 AF-S and 50mm AF) Notes: want to go mirrorless mainly for future-proofing and portability. FF DSLR options are a bit heavier than my D90. May want to learn shooting videos soon as well
