So I got an MSI katana 17 around January but sometimes around May, it fell off an small stool and couldn't turn back on, no matter what I did. People in the forums and on YouTube said to reset EC and that it might be a battery issue which I tried to no avail. So I recently had the chance to take it in for a repair last week and the technician told me it was a video card problem. Now they are telling me the laptop is toast after assuring previously that they could fix it.....what should I do?
My cat recently ran on my keyboard, and the 2 keys - L and Backspace. Backspace turns off the sound, opens a random app, and the arrow keys do random things. The L key types ,hplok. Help me with this problem pls
Hi! I recently bought myself a second hand MSI laptop (gs66 Stealth 10SF) and usually within 4 hours of being open and used without the charger, it’s dying on me. How can I preserve battery life to the max for longer time than this?
I’m not really into computers and gaming but I’m trying to be. Any help may have to be a little “dumbed down” — so sorry 😅 I’m just unsure what to do and it’s frustrating me a bit. I don’t want to have my laptop on charge constantly!
i have an msi gf75 and the charging port doesn't work anymore, i had this problem before and fixed it (something needed to be soldered on again) and less than a year later it happened again. it stars with me having to force the charger in just for it to charge and then it just stops working what should i do because this shit is mad annoying should i just throw this shit away
Got the MSI Crosshair 15 with the 12th Gen i7-12700H and RTX 3060, and it’s been great for gaming and multitasking. The QHD 165Hz screen is super smooth, making games look sharp. It comes with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, so load times are quick, and it runs Windows 11 without hiccups. At 2.3 kg, it’s a bit heavy, but still manageable. Thermals are okay—can get warm under heavy gaming, but nothing major. Overall, a solid mid-range option for gaming and daily use.
Hey all, I've just bought a Llano V13 (NO RGB) laptop cooler for my MSI RAIDER GE78 VIG. I read that many people make changes to their laptop cooler to fit them correctly under their laptop. I did read that his laptop cooler is meant for laptops up to 19 inch. My laptop is 17,3 inch so it should be good. But can you please take a look at my 4 photos that I've made of all the sides of my laptop+cooler to let you all have an impression about how it looks like. I've read that some people also make cuts in the foam because it doesn't fit correct with their laptop, but that's only when your laptop is too small right? My 2 air vents on the back have free space to let out air. Are that the hot air outlets? All advice and tips on how to improve the cooling etc. Are being appreciated!
Thank you very much in advance, and thanks a lot for reading and thinking with me!
Edit: for some reason the photo's weren't added to this topic. So here is the Imgur link for the 4 photos: https://imgur.com/a/yG27kJP
Just ordered the MSI Katana 15 and it is arriving in two days, its an Intel Core i7 13th Gen 13620H - (16 GB/1 TB SSD/Windows 11 Home/6 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050/144 Hz ) What are the things that I should do at first.
Hi all, so I've been having an issue with my computer screen since August. I know I should have gotten it looked at sooner but I didn't really have the time or means to. Anyways, I'll attach a video of what's happening but the screen starts glitching and then goes blank. It started completely at random mid-use and hasn't worked since. Everything else on the laptop works completely fine (games, programs, browsers, etc.). It's not sluggish, virus check came back clean, drivers are up to date, and I can view everything completely fine with a second monitor, so I'm at a loss of what the issue is. I have been told by a fam member whose good with computers that it could be a display cable or GPU issue but, I want to be sure cuz I'm afraid it'll cost an arm and a leg and I don't want to waste money.
Side Note: I recently took my laptop to my local Geek Squad at Best Buy (mistake? probably.) and they sent it back to me saying they couldn't source the part needed to fix it? And to send to the manufacturer for repair. Is that worth it? I'd hate to send it only for it to come back with wasted money and an entirely different (and worse) issue than when I started.
Apologies for the long post or if I used the wrong flair, I very rarely use reddit. Any help or advice is thoroughly appreciated!
So I got my new laptop today, it's a Vector 17hx A13 vig with a 4090 and i9-13980hx. It's great for now especially performance wise (only played war thunder but runs at 300 FPS with max settings, quite an upgrade from my old gtx 1060).
So basically I'm just here to ask for advice on what to do, of course I have updated all drivers and I'm going to do the bios update soon. But I'm not sure about some other things, for example undervolting, do you guys recommend it ? I've also read about the microcode updates for the CPU but I'm not sure if that's a good thing considering they don't come from Intel. Is there anything else you think I should do ? I'd appreciate any advice
I want to be able to use the keyboard / touchpad when its open in Stand/ Tent/ Tablet mode. Is there a setting that I can disable or maybe even in the registry so that when I open it beyond its limit that it will continue to work?
So, I desided to upgrade and repair my stealth 15m a11sdk (i7 1185g7 and gtx 1660 ti) For repaste Im gonne use honeywell ptm7950 and some thermal putty for vram. From ddr4 8x2 3200 I want to go to 16x2, get a 2tb ssd Is my cooling system ok? I think theres corrosion on the space over the die(the dark spot)
Hello, I recently noticed that the keyboard brightness does not change anymore with fn+f10 (or f11). Anyone has the same problem? How did you solve it? P.S. the keys fn f10 and f11 have been tested and work, the problem is the shortcut for highering or lowering keyboard brightness not working
hi, somebody have the gp66 leopard mother board schematic.
my laptop dont show video on your screen, only by hdmi port with a external monitor
Hello! I own a GF63 MSI laptop that needs to be thermally repasted. I never done this before and I'm thinking about doing it myself? Is it something hard to do for beginners? Are there any good tutorial videos? And what's the best paste?
My laptop has been frozen and blowing its fans for about 30mins. The fan is so loud that I can hear it from outside the room with door closed. Tried all button even the power button. Do I have to wait until it run out of battery? It foes seem to be cooling down.

Hi all
Looking to upgrade current msi i7 4070 16gb…what do you guys think of this model? Thanks for any input
My local Costco selling this as the last item for CAD800. Should I buy this ? This is my first gaming laptop so I'm seeking your advice.
Hi All, I just bought the subject laptop from a lady for CAD800. It's working amazing and so far I have repasted it, undervolted the cpu, flashed a 165w bios on the GPU, OCD the GPU, OCD the ram to cl16 and flashed a clean windows.
All in all I am really pleased with everything.
Just want to squeeze more from it and would like some tips on what I can do further.
There are a few more mv I can undervolt and few more mhz I can get on the cpu/GPU but settled on those for now.
Hi all, I have a Thin 15 with 16gb of ram but I want to upgrade it. Does it have 2x 8gb installed? And what’s the best 32gb ram to upgrade to? Tia
have MSI Sword 16 HX B14VFKG Laptop and want to undervolt cpu as the temp is too high but I wasn't managed to enter bios advance mode, I already tried Right Shift + Right CRTL(Copilot Key) + Left Alt + F2 but still cannot go into advance mode
The CPU and GPU temperature stays around 50°C-60°C (light gaming) but the chasis feels very hot on touch. Feels like the temperature should be 70°C-80°C inside. The reading shouldn't be wrong (ig) as I was getting the same reading on 3 different softwares.
So is this because of the dusts accumulated in the vents? Like the CPU and GPU stays cool but the hot air gets trapped inside and makes the heatpipes and the chasis around it hotter? You see the chasis except the fan area used to only get hot, only when the the CPU and GPU reached 80°C+, back when it was new.
I'm planning to get it a cleaning and repasting next week. I just wanted to figure out how it works. The temperature reading and hot chasis made me curious and a little bit confused.
I've trawled through loads of posts on here about the viability of using my laptop via the advertised PD charging and I'm none the wiser, nor can I actually find the official MSI charger for sale online.
So my question is; can I use the USB charging and use the laptop for gaming at the same time? Or is it more of a trickle charging type of thing and it will only give best performance from using the DC charger?
If I can use the USB while gaming, can someone link me the correct charger to buy?
I'm based in the UK.
Many thanks!
Hi All,
I need a replacement cable as per the attached picture for my laptop ( part # K1N-3040168-H58 ) and am struggling to find anyone shipping this to europe.
I found similar but not the same ( ie not 168 but 315 in its place. How do I know if a similar part number is compatible aside from the 3040 pin count.
Thanks
Was looking for a 16 but is this too good to pass up?
This happened to me a few days ago as well, but I somehow managed to fix it then (I genuinely don’t know what I did), but I have the MSI Sword 15 A12UE. The keyboard will light up, but no matter what I do with resetting it, the display doesn’t show up.
Last time this happened, pressing the windows key and a few others worked, but trying it again did not. I tried everything it suggested online that I could find, but still nothing. Is there something I might be doing wrong, or? The light is orange/amber and I know what that means, but I just don’t know how to fix this or what to do.
I have a MSI Laptop Alpha 15beek , I dont know but my laptop mic is not working Microphone Array AMD audio device which showed up earlier but its not showing now. I have tried multiple solutions like tried resetting the EC and even this solution from another post.
Solution: I had to disable the AMD Audio Device (Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> AMD Audio Device) , restart, enable the driver and then restart again. I think it happened after installing or updating the Adrenaline software.
I tried troubleshooter but nothing shows up.
Does anybody have a solution to this !!
It shows like this and that stereo mix mic is also not working idk which mic is that.
I am able to use my external mic but I need that laptop microphone ( I dont always connect that mic ).
I have tried every troubleshooting suggestion I have found on YouTube and this sub Reddit in absolutely nothing has worked yet,
Last night I was listening to live stream music, playing a game on steam and as soon as I tried to open discord, everything froze.
Since then, I have tried just letting it run its course and it was restarting all night and all day today and it’s still has a little spinning wheel.
After I’ve tried a few things the only thing different I can get it to do is a black screen with just a cursor.
It is completely unresponsive. I cannot open bios. I cannot do a safety start. Control alt shift B does nothing, control alt shift Delete also does nothing.
I do not have any way to reinstall windows because I would have to use this laptop to download it and I can’t use this laptop …
