I've seen lots of threads asking about RAM upgrades for Alienware systems. I recently purchased an Aurora R16 system (Win11, i7-14700F, RTX 4070Ti Super, 16GB DDR5 5600 MT/s). After reading lots of conflicting reports I purchased the Crucial Pro 48GB DDR5 5600 MT/s kit from amazon ($99.99 Black Friday Deal). The set is running at the advertised 5600 MT/s speed. I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it after a few minutes so the system would reset to bios defaults but this may not have been necessary. I hope this information helps anyone looking for an upgrade but was worried about getting the right speeds.
hello AW family I am a new user AW m16 r2 with ultra 7 16gb 4070 140w. do you have any advice? tell me what to turn on what to turn off? thanks in advance :)
Looking to add another SSD (Crucial 2TB P3 or P310) to an M15R7 in Slot 2 on my grandkid's laptop. I've noticed there have been numerous complaints of lost drive access. Unfortunately none have mentioned what OS they were using. I wonder if the problem is with the OS and does it only occur when gaming.
If this problem occurs only while gaming, are you playing games with anti-cheat software installed?
And if possible, could you also include the SSD brand and model used and whether if you have the latest BIOS. I'm going to assume you have the latest Windows updates.
Thanks.
Hey all, I’m looking to upgrade my gaming rig and have my eyes set on an Alienware desktop. I’m hoping to find a solid deal on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but I’m wondering if they usually discount desktops, or if it’s mostly laptops that go on sale? Does anyone have any tips for finding the best Alienware deals this year?
I picked up a m16 r1 amd/4080. Has anyone tried the 96gb ddr5 kits yet?
I know its old and the motherboard is custom made but Ive been basically researching for two hours now with little to no result, I should probably upgrade pc's but im a little budgety. right now, What do you think and will it work?
Not the best with computers but had this laptop for a little over a year now and when I boot up a game or have it running for a minute this sound occurs on my laptop. I don't think it's normal
Honestly, I loved that feature. Especially on 17 - 18" displays where connecting third party devices made sense, but I can see why Dell would remove it as no one didn't really used that, but, to me. I actually enjoyed using my Alienware laptop as a secondary monitor to play Xbox and switch back to Windows at the same time.
Although, as stated earlier. I can guarantee that probably a few people will use this feature again despite having other alternatives that can do the same thing if the Dell did approved the gimmick, then the cycle repeats itself.
But hey, while it was a gimmick. It did provide some kind of uniqueness to the brand and by removing that. It shows how dull and bland laptops became over the years. I could be wrong about this, but what do you guys think about the feature?
Hello. I have an Alienware M16 R1 with a 4090 and an i9 - 13900HX.
What will the best settings in bios and AWCC be? I want maximum cooling and performance, since using a custom preset is making my fps drop in some games.
Is undervolting and using the default presets better or not undervolting and using the custom preset better?
Are there any other things which I have to do?
Hey everyone, as the title says, I’m not sure how to remove the undervolt protection on Intel XTU. I’ve tried going into BIOS but I could not find any options there to disable the protection. I recently updated to the new 1.9.0 m18 r2 bios update so I’m not sure if that could be the reason? I’d really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks on advance! 🙏🏼
So I have a m18 r1, it lasted about 1 month of use before i had to send it back, and now I have another one, its always something screwing up, I spent about 5 hours messing with settings to get this one to game properly, I had to disable hybrid graphics to get my computer to stop freezing, now alienware command center isnt opening. I spend more time goggling fixes than I do playing games.
You would think spending 2200 bucks on a laptop would get u a decent one, I am almost to the point of contacting paypal to do a charge back, is all alienwares this bad??
Getting this sequence after changing from stock Ram to 1 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 4800Mhz c40 Ram stick. 2 red flashes and 5 blue. Any help would be great.
How do they clean their white Alienware when it starts to turn yellow or dirty? I tried cleaning whit degreaser but it didn’t work
I hope i wont regret it lol. I have the m16 3070 and was eyeing a 4090 gpu laptop for a while.
Got it 25% off on amazone cheaper then dell was selling it for cyber Monday weekend.
Anyone have any insight on how to get these programs to work on a brand new r16? Dells having issues.
I’m eagerly waiting for my gaming PC parts to arrive!
What an amazing screen! It’s a 32-inch QD-OLED 240Hz monitor, and it’s my first 4K gaming monitor and my first Alienware product. She’s absolutely beautiful!
I’ve heard some people say that Dell has quality control issues, and I’ve noticed a few small scratches on my new monitor. They’re not noticeable unless I use a flashlight, and I can only see a few tiny short scratches.
By the way, all Alienware monitors undergo rigorous testing before shipping, so it’s normal to see some fingerprints and micro scratches.
I hope you all like her! I’ll upload my gaming PC setup once I’m done building it. Happy gaming!
I just got it recently, so I was wondering what it means when it does this.
I did dumb stuff listened to friend on reinstalling windows using a iso with rufus to get rid bloat ware and fix driver problems, but to do it I had to switch it from raid to achi/Nvme to use the USB reinstall method but my PC is acting like its not a alienware PC and wont install certain apps cause i didnt just use the support recovery OS instead like i all ways used
i need help to know how can i get it back to original OS how i bought it day one back last year back in August
and switch it back to Raid,
I have a M16 R2 4070 Laptop. I am a sucker for brand loyalty and would like an Alienware monitor to go with it.
My options are between the 4k Oled 165hz monitor, the newest 32’ 240hz 4k oled monitor, or the 1080p 360hz monitor.
These options are what is only available to me at my local Best Buy. I do not want to order online and have it shipped for my own reasons.
Any recommendations on what monitor would be best for a 4070 m16 r2? I would like the new oled 4k but my laptop display is 2560x1440p and I heard that running games at 4k won’t hold well. If I were to lower the resolution, would the benefits outweigh the cost?
Please list your recommendations, pro/cons, any help would be appreciated and humbling.
Hi guys
My Alienware m18 R2
1 TB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12GB GDDR6
14th Gen Intel Core i9 14900HX (24-Core, 36MB L3 Cache, up to 5.8GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
16 GB: 2 x 8 GB, DDR5, 5600 MT/s, non-ECC, dual-channel
Intel Core i9 Processor Label
Just arrived yesterday. I set it up and downloaded a few apps I need. But the thing I’ve realised is that even without any apps open, when I open the command centre the memory usage is already at 10-12 GB…..
Could you guys help me out as I am new to this
New to the world of pc gaming so trying to figure out how to make this thing run at a decent temperature
I just picked up an m16 r2 I October- Ultra 9, rtx4070, 32gb of ram, 1tb ssd. The computer runs really nice and cool when I’m running on battery power no matter what I’m doing, really doesn’t go above 60°c and the fans don’t spin up like a typhoon
When I plug it in I sit somewhere between 70-80°c at idle and in the high 90°’s when I open the file explorer or a browser. I knock it down to quiet or the lowest preset in awcc and it still runs in the low 90’s.
Could it be something buggy with my awcc? The temp will say 98, 70, 65, 100, 88…etc. also when you click on the performance tab it’s blank for cpu temp in Celsius but when I click it over to Fahrenheit it reads 4°c. Has anyone had an issue like this before? And what are the right things to set to help it run cooler just doing regular tasks (anything not gaming)? Thanks
For some reason, my computer looks like i5’s on, but the monitor is completely black. Can someone help me?
I'll be quite honest I've never purchased a desktop by myself before, and I'm a little bogged down into what I need in terms of a monitor/ what is compatible with the Aurora R16. I don't want to spend a ton of money as I am honestly stretching my budget already, and am more than willing to upgrade to something nicer down the line. Are there any minimum requirements I should be looking for for a nice experience, or anything in particular you'd recommend? For reference I have been looking at the following: Pixio PX248 Wave 24 inch 200Hz Refresh Rate FHD 1080p Resolution Fast IPS Panel 1ms GTG Response Time Gaming Monitor with Adaptive Sync (unsure if outside links are allowed) Thank you!
I've noticed some issues at times that appear to be pointing towards my CMOS battery being on its last legs and needing to be replaced.
However, in trying to find out what to replace it with, I'm confused if it's a standard coin cell in some type of enclosure or if it's a special battery that has a cable or lead or something attached? Anyone here know what it might be of those options (or if it's something else)?
Thanks in advance!
I am thinking of getting the r16 soon. My question is if the liquid cooling upgrade is worth the $50 over the default air cooling? How about 500 watts vs 1000 watts PSU. Is it worth an extra $100 and why? TIA!
