Just bought this beautiful m16 from Best Buy. It worked fine for the first day although I did notice the screen lines flickered quickly then went back to normal. Now the second day and it is just about permanently looking like this. The vertical lines shake a little bit and if I play with the laptop hinge I can sometimes get it to go back to 100% normal but it almost instantly goes back to this the second I touch the laptop it's very sensitive. Is there an easy fix for this or something I can do myself? I'm not sure if I have the tools to open this up or if that would work. Worse case scenario I can return it but I am traveling and not near a Best Buy at the moment so l'd like to have this fixed sooner than later so l can use it. Thanks for any advice.

Finally think I got my cursor freezing issue out of the way on my new M18R2 and ready to upgrade the RAM. When I bought it on sale it included 16GB. Was just going to buy 64GB but now thinking maybe 32GB is enough? Thoughts/suggestions?

I just received my M18 R2 and noticed some strange behavior. When the power adapter is plugged in, the PC makes a weird noise whenever I use an external mouse (I've tested both wireless and wired). However, if I unplug the power adapter, the sound disappears.

Interestingly, there's no strange noise when I use the built-in trackpad instead of an external mouse. Also, even when I'm not using the mouse or doing anything, the PC emits a slight electrical noise when the power adapter is connected.

Has anyone else had this issue or experienced something similar? Any advice would be appreciated!

Cause ultra 285k is just the worst you can think of for gaming. It does no upgrade compare to the previous gen and only cuts the power in half. Can’t think of it playing games compared to 9800x3d. What is Dell actually doing? Locked into some contracts they can’t shake off with Intel?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU on an Alienware Aurora R10 from the base AMD Radeon RX 5700 to an NVIDIA RTX 4060.

My current specs are:

AMD Radeon RX 5700

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

64GB DDR4 RAM (I use it for music production as well as gaming and some of those plugins are very RAM hungry)

1 256 GB SSD (will probably look to upgrade to bigger in the future)

1 1TB HDD (will definitely upgrade in the future)

1 2TB SSD

Anything else is the base R10 model as I've not changed anything.

I'm not too knowledgeable about this but this is what I've seen:

- I have a 550W PSU that came base with the model which seems to be enough considering the CPU.

- From what I see the maximum length of the GPU can be 267mm where the 4060 has a length of 240mm.

Is there anything else I should get alongside the GPU in order to help insert/make it compatible? I am open to other suggestions as well, but I'm limited to spending it on Argos (as I have a gift card for there 🤣) and my budget is £300.

Like the title says, I upgraded from the RTX 4070 Super to an RTX 4090. I know some of you are going to say it wasn't worth the upgrade, but I needed more VRAM, and I didn't want to have to fight for a 5090. Nevertheless, the GPU works fine, but on boot, I get "Top Fan 1 Failure", and "Top Fan 2 Failure". All fans are spinning, and I haven't seen any temperature issues. I can click continue to boot into windows and everything operates fine. However the message displays every time I restart the computer.

First question: Which fans are Top 1 and Top 2?
Second: Why are they failing? Am I drawing too much power for the GPU?
Third: Is there anyway to fix this?

This is a 1000W PSU, it only had two 8 pin connectors, so I had to add 6pinX2 to 8pin cable to get the third power connector for the 4090 (MSI only has 3)

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I have a 3090 gpu. Runs most games amazing but wanting to put in a 4090. My psu is 1000 I bought the maxed out r12 of that time and upgraded ram to 64gb. Nothing else done. Wanting to find the right gpu to change it with. Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

Simply put the previous tech guy done messed up with the thermal paste application months ago, like 6 maybe?

The hotspot temp on rhe gpu was ridiculous. 105c

Core temp was at 70 so I didn't notice any discrepancy until I played my older games and noticed I was getting lower fps, went to hwinfo and there was a thermal Throttle indicator. Turns out it was because of the hotpsot gpu temp.

I bought myself a ptm7950 but I am hesitant to open my laptop. It's my first-time and I'm a complete noob when it comes to this.

The motherboard seems to be flipped( alienware m17 r5 6900hx 3070 ti) so I'm kinda confused, the manual says to remove the ram, ssd, and basically everything, why tho? Aren't they part of the board?

Anyways, I didn't find any teardown or repaste guides for my specific model so I'm seeking help.

Is it worth doing myself and risk breaking a cable or a slot, maybe tighten the screws too hard causing stripping etc etc.

Any suggestions would be highly helpful.

Hello all, I just bought an Alienware AW3225QF monitor. When I turn on my PC the monitor screen remains black and it displays a massage that there is no signal from PC. Restarting the PC doesn’t help. But when I unplug and then plug in the cable in the monitor it suddenly gets the signal and continues to work completely fine in games, apps, everything until the next time I turn off the PC. Then it is the same thing again. I use the supplied HDMI cable. PC specs are:

I don't know if it was an update, but I realized today that my M17 R5's screen has become yellower. I don't think it's a driver issue, because my external display is fine. I tried to calibrate with the Windows calibration tool, but that didn't help much. Is the screen slowly dying after less than two years, or is this a known issue which can be fixed?

So I recently moved things around in my room and my PC got unplugged moved and plugged back in. However now this happens:

Starts up fine, detects the display port cable , all is good, desktop is working just fine, but then it suddenly cuts out, and now can't detect the cable? I don't understand. I'm using the same cable as before, nothing has changed other than it's been moved.

I have an Alienware Area 51M R2 i7 10700K RTX 2080S and a QNAP TVS-872XT 10GbE NAS drive. I am seeking a 10GbE adapter for the Alienware to connect to the laptop for 10GbE data transfers between the two devices on my network. A friend of mine attempted to set up a QNAP QNA-T310G1S Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE adapter without success. Can anyone recommend a compatible 10GbE adapter for the laptop or any other solution that will enable high rate data transfer between these two devices?

Does anyone know what the exact difference(s) are between the R15 and R16 motherboards? The only difference I’m able to find is the part numbers but they both appear to be Z690 boards. Thoughts?

Or rather, why does the cherry mx keyboard require both a 2tb SSD and cost $700 extra.... I hope this is just a bug in the site, since I'm returning my m18 and was considering the x16 in order to get away from the 14th gen intel defects.

My ol' reliable 15 R3 Laptop still going strong, playing HellDivers with no issues!

Just picked up this fresh out the box M16 and for some reason the internet just keeps disconnecting whenever it feels like and I'm going insane, I've checked out just about a dozen other reddit threads that said they have the same problem but nothing seems to be helping.

Any advice or tips would be GREATLY appreciated I've never had this problem with any previous devices before :(

I'm torn between the WD SN850x 4tb $279, Crucial T500 2tb $154, or Samsung 990pro 4tb $296. This laptop clearly gets super-hot while under heavy load (easily reach 200f while gaming) so I know I'll some kind of a heatshield. From what I can gather the shields that normally come on these ssds are too thick for the area. If anybody has a recommendation between these 3 or possibly one I'm not thinking about I'm all ears. Also, if you have a heatshield recommendation as well. Mostly use the laptop for gaming and photo editing on Adobe and Affinity. Thank you

I was trying to update the windows through settings windows update, whenever I tried to update the laptop, the update installation failed with error 800700c1, I tried many fixes from the internet like running update troubleshooter, or cmd prompt (sfc /scannow) and stopping and starting windows services etc. but was unable to update.

So I thought of just resetting my laptop I tried resetting with the in-built recovery option, there were 2 options keep data or clear all data, I tried both(I didn't try the recycle one), but the laptop booted normally after the proces and showed reset failed, tried this process many times but was unable to reset.

Then I went to the BIOS and into Maintenance and Enabled wipe data on the next boot, after this when the laptop restarted there came a message

'Your Pc/Device needs to be repaired The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors

File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi

Error code: 0xc0000098'

Press enter to try again Press F8 for Startup Settings Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

When I press F8 nothing happens, only the screen flashes and same happens for enter When I press Esc BIOS settings open up

I created a Bootable drive with this laptop before wiping data with the help of Media Creation tool,and also another bootable USB with smartphone with DROFUS(formerly RUFUS) and added win11 ISO file with it.

Now when I try to boot, it says no bootable devices found, I went to bios and added "File Browser Add Boot Option" and added name BOOT64 and went to source and Select "efi". Select "boot". Select "bootx64.efi".

Now when I turn on, I instantly press F12 for boot options and select any 1 of the 2 USBs and boot, it waits for awhile and then shows this message again

Wanted to give a simple title to describe it as easy as possible but anyone got advice or a good idea dealing with this, the notches in the plastic light up area is a bit tough to get pushed together, I think it happened while in my backpack one time sadly this is the one negative with these kind of power cable designs (they should really be a rubber with better notches to lock the pieces in (or even just a hinge design that can bend and rotate).

I have AlienFx but even with the instructions it's a bit murky how to use it. This is a Dell G16 laptop. Mostly it's just used for Office apps or internet browsing, and I want it to run as cool as possible. Gaming is less frequent. Anyhow, I've uninstalled AWCC and AlienFX. So what controls the fans at this point. BIOS?

Initially I was hoping to buy a new desktop with 5080, but now that 5080 is not as powerful as people thought, and there is a tax break now in Canada until mid February, I wonder if I should take this opportunity to purchase a r16 with 4080 super / 4090 instead. What do you suggest?
