Noisy Neighbours in Ratoath

Hi there, long-time lurker here. I've been looking at buying a property in Ratoath in Woodlands Park, but I've been informed that there are noisy neighbours/bad neighbours there. Can anyone help provide me more information on this? We're buying a property for my mam and I don't want her to have horrible neighbours. Thanks!

Moving to Mornington, Meath?

Looking for some steer/advice please. Considering a move to Mornington (Donacarney Wood). Young family (1 and 3 year old)

Property is likely overpriced if I’m honest but everywhere seems to be experiencing this

Any advice on that area or surrounding towns?

Leaving Dublin and the constant rush, increase in antisocial behaviour and just looking for somewhere to raise a family with other like minded people just wanting their children to grow into decent humans

Thank you X

Bus help!

How's things!

I haven't taken the bus to Dublin in 20 years, no idea what it's like now, is it cash only? What do I say to the bus driver when I get on, still "adult return to Dublin"? (Getting on in Trim) Does driver want exact change and does he take cash? I read that they don't take card yet!

Thanks in advance!!

I am looking for a pub in Meath that I can put some 21st bday decorations up for free

My 21st is in a few months and I am a college student and all the pubs in my area want like 200 euro for me to put up some decorations and I am super broke. A few of my friends who aren’t in the county was able to do this for free in pubs because everyone is buying drinks. Does anyone know of any places ?

Other towns in Meath

I'm from navan and would if I go out it would usually be in Navan (odd time up to the big smoke). But for a change we went out for dinner in Trim. Obviously been in Trim alot but never out for a night. Have to say there was a couple of lovely pubs we went to after and they seem recently done up , pretty lively and that. Will defo be back for a good session. Even after the pub, it wasn't too late, the streets felt very safe. Didn't seem to be scumbags hanging around like usually in navan.

Jobs

Hello,

I might be moving to Meath county in new year and I was wondering how job market looks like for foreigners. Is there any possibility to get “office” job while being foreign? If not office job even some blue collar job that needs some qualifications. I would appreciate any feedback 🙏🏻

Any decent barbers in the Navan / Trim area?

I used to go to cut and sew in Dublin but it's too far of a drive now.

I've unfortunately been butchered in a few places in Navan.

Looking at reviews online and there does not seem to be a half decent barbers anywhere around Navan.

I'd be willing to pay around 30 euro for a good cut. Preferably somewhere you can book before.

Two travellers tar scam Navan

Warning

Had two travellers in hivis jackets arrive at the house in a 90s? White SUV type car.

1st question, is your dad home

Well we are from the highway maintenance (shows a badge on his lanyard, picture of his face, and highway maintenance beside. No name, no company name, no serial number)

Says they have left over tar that's going to waste and offer to do driveway. I ask for business cards... Lol no cause they are going back home soon. Act nice and say it's only going to waste...

This is all in their car too, he wouldn't come up to the door (for fear of a doorbell camera I imagine) and parked a bit away.

Anyway after me politely declining, they kept looking at me as I took notice of their plates (UK reg started with Y) your one I was talking to leaned out of his window and in full traveller accent, "you dont look at my reg, dont take any pics ya hear me!"

Lol sure. "Highway maintenance" lol

Thornton Hall plan will be ‘disaster’ for Ashbourne

Anyone from around Ashbourne/surrounding areas have any thoughts on this and how it may impact Ashbourne/the small surrounding villages? It seems there are about to set up a tent like camp with roughly 1000 people living in it.

Injury from election sign post illegally placed

Has anyone else actually got injured by these election sign posts? The signs are supposed to be at least a minimum of 2.2m high off the ground, not allowed on roundabouts or electrical poles. This is part of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

But how many of them do you see that break our Road traffic act? I see it in every town across Meath/Dublin ( I am based on Meath/Dublin boarder) but I know its everywhere and its shocking to see such disregard. Any blind person, or anyone in general can and have injured themselves on these illegal sign posts including my own brother( Sinn Fein poster below 2.2m scratched right across his arm, causing a nasty cut while out for a 10km run).

These candidates are looking to get into government and or some position of power - shouldn't they be following the rules of the Road Traffic Act also, like the rest of us.....? or does it just simply not matter because of who/what they are? Also to add- most of them are putting forth their views on climate change, be Eco friendly, make sure to recycle etc. etc. - all these cardboard/paper posters are tied with single use cable ties........ For the last 3-4 years they have also preached to the high heavens about public health and safety etc. the irony, total disregard and hypocrisy is incredible.

I have copied a snippet below from Dublin Council but both links Meath and Dublin council here to read for yourself -

https://www.meath.ie/system/files/media/file-uploads/2024-04/Election%20Posters.pdf

https://www.dublincity.ie/council/voting-and-elections/local-elections/election-postering

I have called many party headquarters to complain (Sinn Fein most recently and they just said sorry about your brother, hope he is ok and we will remove the sign post. Yes, you guessed it - its still there) but I have yet to see one illegally placed sign removed.

Any thoughts on this? or am I just being pedantic....

Edit : shortened to remove the copied snippet from Dublin Council to avoid the post not being read/complaints the post it too long.

Elections

Apologies for the double post but I am looking to see if I can get some info on the candidates in the local election here in Navan.

I am resident here 5 years or so but just got it changed on the register so I can vote now but don't know much about the runners and riders.

I do like that Alan (Lawes?) doesn't have any posters up, so I'm leaning that way.

The NX

Why on earth is the NX not a feeder service into the buses at Blanchardstown. It would be more frequent and solve the issues of not enough space in the mornings. I thought the whole point was connecting the bus routes together
