Custom embroidery

I'm looking to get a sweatshirt made for my friend for her birthday with pictures of her two dogs faces on it, and maybe their names underneath their faces. I did have a look on Etsy but they all seem to use the same images and as it's a gift I want to make sure it's good quality. I would also prefer to support a local business if possible.

Does anyone know of anywhere locally, or an Irish business even if not local, that would make something like this for me?

Thanks in advance 😊

Pool and Ale

Since I arrived in Cork in the spring I’ve been loving the pub scene, in moderation naturally, but I have yet to find a decent pub with cask ales (I don’t like Witherspoon’s much) or with a decent pool table. Would I need to look elsewhere for the pool table? Is there any hand pumped ale around?

Underrepresented Music Genres in the Cork Nightlife Scene

good evening to all,

I am currently conducting a study to help provide more insight to the nightlife scene as a patron/attendee at the clubs and pubs here in Cork.

As we all know the Electronic Music scene is currently at the forefront for the nightlife economy but not everybody enjoys Electronic Music and the culture it brings. Thus brings forward the question of which genre is underrepresented?

I imagine there are many people both young and old who feel that there isnt enough space for their preferred type of event/party. How do you feel? Can you provide some personal insight? or does Cork finally have enough room for everyone to enjoy nightlife?

Restaurant recs

Hello all!

Looking for restaurant recommendations that would take a booking for about ten people that are reasonably priced or at least have cheaper options (want to make sure I can accommodate everyone)

Partial to Italian food but open to any cuisine, veggie options would be a plus too :)

TIA!

Identify earrings - long shot

Hi all. I know this is a long shot but I bought these earrings from a stall (I think local) at the Midleton food festival in 2019. I’ve since lost one and would love to replace them, but I can’t find them anywhere. I know it’s a long shot, but would anyone maybe recognise them. Thank you.

Bottled water in bulk

We are one of the unfortunate households that had to switch to bottled water (shared house, so 0 chance of installing a reverse osmosis filtering system). Alas, it's getting really annoying to haul the 5l water bottles multiple times a week, and Tesco delivery for some reason has a limit of 5 bottles per delivery. Are there any places where we could order in bulk, or perhaps get these massive "office cooler" bottles without paying for an expensive subscription?

Kind things seen in Cork

I was driving by the Eysian apartments turning towards the Link road. I saw a lovely and kind man help an older lady cross the (very complicated) traffic lights by there.

He then crossed the road on to another direction. It made me smile when I realised he did it just to help her. Completely went out of his way. It's always nice to see theese things as they often go unnoticed.

(Sorry for any spelling or grammar errors I am dyslexic)

Pergolas

Can anyone recommend somewhere/someone who does garden pergolas? Everything I find online seems to be cheap and questionable or the other extreme where the price isn’t listed and ends up being €30k

Nails knowers plz help me demystify all this manicure&pedicure jargon and terms. Looking for an Xmas present for Mammy.

She's not really into nails, a couple times a year if she's going abroad or to a wedding like. Out of these two price lists, mani&pedi, what should I avoid and what is worth spending the extra few bob on.

Manicure

Pedicure

I welcome any other businesses or advice.

Nice ppl.

BBQ Beef ribs/Brisket

Hi all,

Have family over from the UK this week and one of them wants to cook up a BBQ. They’ve asked me to try and source Beef/Dino ribs or a brisket. But I cannot for the life of me find anywhere online that stocks them in Cork. Anyone know/exp in sourcing any in Town?

Just why are people so horrible? (Vent)

I'll try my best to keep it short, but I've been shaking with anger and now I'm holding back tears.

I've been on again off again trying to move into the city for college for years. It's only this year I can really afford places that are in and around 800 per month.

I had a viewing scheduled today right after work at 2:30pm, but because they only confirmed it at 1pm, I would be 10 or 15 minutes late. At 2:25pm I recieve an email stating "Hey sorry , I’m actually just out of the shower so won’t be ready by then."

I emailed back at 2:31pm saying "Ah okay. I'm about 5 mins away now. Should I stick around or?", to which I got no reply. I emailed again at 3pm saying I'd be around for another 10 minutes before I'd be heading into town and that I'd be available till 5pm. Nothing.

I completely reorganised my day for this, I stuck around an extra 2 hours in town because that's when my next bus was. I have college work I'm under pressure to complete and this is what I spent my time doing instead. Their excuse after I thanked them for wasting my time?

"Are you for real I’m not a landlord I live in the house trying to fill the room. It’s taking time out of my day to." - You quite literally didn't take time out of your day. Also it's too*

"I didn’t treat you anyway , I asked you to come at half 2 today and emailed to say I wouldn’t make it as I’m not constantly looking at my emails." - You made an appointment for a viewing for half 2 and cancelled at 2:25 because you...weren't ready?

And the best part? They sent this immediately after: "And PS don’t worry the house is heavily sought after- so we’ll fill your shoes not a problem"

Even funnier still is that that was the quickest reply I got.

Anyway, rant over. ✌️

Overheard at cork airport.

Flying out of cork at the moment and just overheard a long conversation between two wealthy people complaining about how "renters have rights" in this country. It absolutely made my blood boil. They have no idea how good they have it. It took all my strength to not say anything to them. Rant over.

What's this thing at Corban Square up north of St Luke's?

Out for an exploratory walk of the north side and came across this.

Where to get cheap plant pots?

I have 5 house plants and they need bigger pots & trays.

This will cost me about 100 euro in woodies for bog standard plastic pots. 30cm diameter / 12 litres.

They're just plastic buckets. This shouldn't cost that much. I'm new to this so maybe they do.

Anywhere to get them cheaper?

I'm willing to DIY something if anybody has ideas, but they need to look kind of OK as they're indoor plants. A hellmann's mayonnaise bucket "grandad's shed style" would be great but would look a bit shitty, even with some paint. The missus wouldn't accept that. But the woodies bog standard plastic ones are OK.

Farrell Square?

Afternoon all

I am finally making a trip to Cork City next February. This is where my Grandparents are from. I found out my Nan was born on Farrell Square, St Mary’s in Shandon in 1933. By pure luck we are staying in Shandon however I can’t find Farrell Square on the map? A Google search suggested it was off of Shandon Street but none of the roads leading from here now are called Farrell Square (I’ve been told it was a tiny road)

Can anyone help me find Farrell Square or tell me what it might be called now as I suspect it may have been redeveloped.

Any help greatly appreciated! Many thanks
