Is there anywhere to play pickleball around here?
Hi everyone,
I hope this isn't seen as shilling but rather as a feedback request or idea request. A while ago, I created an app called "The Kilkenny App." The main reason was that I got annoyed with all the events happening in Kilkenny not that I could attend all of them, but I wasn’t aware of them and the lack of a single source to find them.
It took 3 months of research and 6 months of development, but I eventually got it published to the app stores. It has evolved a bit since the initial launch but still retains the original format. Since June, I have been able to secure some sponsorship from The Kilkenny Night-Time Economy and Kilkenny Tourism.
If you see the app poster on the old Mueble's windows or bus stops, that’s entirely thanks to them. They’ve been very supportive and a great help, and we share the same objective: promoting events in Kilkenny city and county.
The feedback I've received from people has been amazing. To date, there have been 6,394 individual events added to the app—about 90-120 events on average each week, which can go up to 200 during festival weeks.
The app is free and always will be, and anyone who wants to add an event can email me I want to try to get as many events as possible or If you have regular events, you can register for the portal and post directly to the app. It’s really just a one-man operation. I have a full-time job that has to come first so been a challenge to keep it up to date.
If you want to tryout the app, it’s in the app stores. If you like it, please tell your friends the more downloads, the better!
that's all
Is it just me or is there dog dirt everywhere in kilkenny. I have young kids and do a lot of walking around town. Say from callen road right in town and along the canal or in the castle park. I seem to be avoiding or telling the kids to watch out for dog dirt every few meters. It's really disgusting
Im over from the states, staying in Kilkenny for a couple of months for work. I’ll miss my local whisky club meeting while I’m here. Was wondering if there was anything similar happening locally that someone could bring me as a guest. I can even be a bottle bearer. I did see that whiskey guild meeting, but there aren’t any tickets available online.
There are a few cafes around now that are dog friendly which is great.
Pubs wise, I'm aware of Sullivan's and Bridie's, even if Bridie's are daytime only.
Are there any other pubs in the city that are dog friendly? Ideally one that would allow a well behaved dog inside and serves stout?
Howayis.
Looking at new builds going up in Nyne Park on the Callan Road and I found a post from a few months ago on here about anti social in the area.
(https://www.reddit.com/r/Kilkenny/comments/1bfr4ri/residents\_being\_extorted\_for\_protection\_money\_in/ - this thread).
Just wondering if anyone on here has any info on this, is it even worth looking at these gaffs or would I be better off looking in other areas?
Thanks in advance!
