Taken on the morning of Thursday, May 15th, 1980 at the 'Photo Me' booth in Woolworths Macclesfield, this was to be used as a passport photo for Joy Division's first US tour.
This is the last photo of my wife, Laura. We were together for 30 years. 25 of those years were fantastic and rewarding. Then her doctor cut her medication by 50% then dropped her as a patient two weeks later. She went to the black market for help, I wasn't aware until it was too late. She died 5 years later 😔
One of the final photos taken of Rustem Vladimirovich Slobodin before he perished during the Dyatlov pass incident.
The Dyatlov Pass incident refers to the mysterious event in which nine Soviet hikers died in the northern Ural Mountains between February 1 and 2, 1959, under uncertain circumstances.
A seasoned trekking group from the Ural Polytechnical Institute, led by Igor Dyatlov, had set up camp on the eastern slopes of Kholat Syakhl in the Russian SFSR of the Soviet Union.
Overnight, something prompted the group to cut their way out of their tent and flee the campsite while inadequately dressed for the heavy snowfall and subzero temperatures.
A Soviet investigation concluded that six of the trekkers died from hypothermia, while the other three had sustained fatal injuries from physical trauma.
One victim had major skull damage, two had severe chest trauma, and another had a small crack in his skull.
Four of the bodies were found lying in running water in a creek, and three of these four had damaged soft tissue of the head and face.
Two of the bodies had missing eyes, one had a missing tongue, and one had missing eyebrows.
The investigation concluded that a "compelling natural force" had caused the deaths.
In 2019 Russia re-investigated the incident and concluded that an avalanche led to the deaths. However, this theory is doubted by some.

She died two days after this photo was taken (2018). She was 56 years old and died from liver/bone cancer.
They did not make it after the captain made the decision to attempt to top an unusually high thunderstorm and led the plane to an aerodynamic stall from nearly 40000ft, a flat spin, and a firey crash. There were no survivors.
I do NOT recommend listening to the publicly available cockpit voice recorder. It’s beyond disturbing.
One of the saddest aspects of this accident was the fact that the crew member sitting in the left seat (usually reserved for an experienced first officer) was a 23 year old pilot in training. He not only had a poor example in the captain, but would never have a chance to fill that seat himself.
